12:28 AM
Anyone have AT&T uverse?

12:48 AM
my two favorite things - beer and football - are fighting! (stolen from reddit)

1 hour later…
1:49 AM
sigh

@Wesley Sigh indeed
I literally just learned that this new tool I'm poking around in will let you delete hours of work by accident with no confirmation prompt and no way of getting it back

2:08 AM
@MarkHenderson So, you're using Linux now?
:D

2:28 AM
@Wesley Almost
I was working in VMWare Fusion and pressed Fn+F3 to show all my OSX windows, but I didn't press Fn and apparently F3 is a hotkey for "baleet everything"

@MarkHenderson That's outrageous.

@Wesley shrug
Thankfully nothing critical
Just me mucking around

@MarkHenderson It get delivered tomorrow.
@Wesley Windows: You want to write to areas of memory containing the kernel? No I don't think so. Linux: You want to write to areas of memory containing the kernel? Very good sir, anything else I can do?
@FalconMomot You around?

@Jacob I have to wait 3 weeks for mine. Getting it through work and the person doing it didn't do a pre-order so I'm on the normal waiting list

@MarkHenderson Gonna let the first adopters work the bugs out while I wait for my contract to expire in December

2:42 AM
@Wesley I've read strong recommendations not to put iOS on a 4S
And I'm inclined to believe them because when I put iOS6 on my 3G it almost became unusable
Or whatever the last version for the 3G was

@MarkHenderson free > release day

@Jacob Damn straight

@MarkHenderson I need to find a way to get a case, no one would ship it fast enough to arrive before/ with the phone

@Jacob Just be super careful until you get one
I usually buy a case and then fuck it off because it ruins the asthetics and weight/size of the phone

3:01 AM
@MarkHenderson yeah, I tried that with my HTCOne. Didn't work that well,

3:20 AM
I think my retinas are going to detach.

@Wesley why?

@Jacob Working in front of a computer screen for about 16 hours out of the day for weeks on end.

@Wesley Been there done that, and some of that in a cold data center.

4:00 AM
Fuck me, I don't know why we bother trying to work on a Friday afternoon. Just had a meeting with a client where we're going through a workflow. They're cleaners and we're going through a typical job. Conversation went like this:

Us: "Ok, so let's say you're in the womens bathroom and you need to do $x. Then what do you do?"
Them 1: "We get the fuck out of the womens bathroom because we're men"
Them 2: "Yeah what are you, some kind of pervert?"
It's been like this all afternoon
I say we just go home

@MarkHenderson Go home then

@Jacob Not that simple
Sadly I have work to do

@MarkHenderson Work from home?

@Jacob I can't work from home at the moment. Working from home is a bad idea with infants
Plus hard to have a meeting with a customer when you're at home

@MarkHenderson I don't have kid, can't relate.

4:12 AM
@Jacob Consider yourself fortunate

@MarkHenderson I don't understand the conversation, but I'll gladly commiserate with you.

@Wesley Just friday afternoon shennanigans

@MarkHenderson Well, you did choose to do an action which you knew could cause a child to appear. :P

@Jacob Meh. I love my kids and they are the best thing to have happened to me. But they make actually doing work virtually impossible

@MarkHenderson Not always how it works BTW

4:19 AM
@Jacob Depends on the parent

heh
@MarkHenderson: and the kids.

Bob
4:34 AM
@MarkHenderson Deprecated just means 'should not be used in future, start phasing out'; existing uses can remain for a while

@Jacob Hey they permit remote workers now
@Bob That was a simplified version of our conversation, btu the point of the conversation was that they wanted me to take a bunch of shit out of the system and when I did it they said it was still in use

@MarkHenderson want a(new) job?

@Jacob Not right now, to be honest
My pay/conditions here have improved markedly since I interviewed with them

@MarkHenderson stability > fun?

@Jacob Absolutely
I have a family
I have committments
I have responsibilities
Not only that but I have a lot of people here who rely on me a lot and it would be pretty difficult to extract myself without a very long lead time
I like it here

This is the first in a multi-part series where I explore the process of transforming an existing Graylog install into a resilient and scalable multi-site installation. When I started at ${DayJob} we were using a single server Graylog2 for log storage. Honestly it works out pretty well, the only real resource hog is ElasticSearch which will eat up as much memory as you can ever throw at it. O

@MarkHenderson .That's what matters.

@Jacob Plus they said they'd come back to me if I it would work for them in the future and I'm totally sure that that's not just a flippant throw-away comment and every time a job comes up they discuss "Would Mark from Australia be suitable for this job?" and that I havent heard from them means that they have already thought about me and decided not to contact me
</sarcasam>

@MarkHenderson error saw closing sarcasm tag, but expected opening tag.

@Jacob swift boot to the arse
Don't be a smartarse

okay
:(

4:43 AM
@Jacob Burgler
Trust breaker
Integrity betrayer

I accept NOTHING
@MarkHenderson I have tomorrow off, and can't think of a better way to spend it than waiting around for mah iphone

@Jacob You said you're getting it delivered?

Larry Ellison is leaving Oracle.

@MarkHenderson yes
@MichaelHampton no, he's becoming the CTO is what I heard at the office

@Jacob Then hang around in your underwear and play destiny while you're waiting

4:47 AM
@MarkHenderson all of mah friends won't be around

@Jacob Oh, you're right

@Jacob Then do what you would normally do. Sit in the dark watching depraved pornography masturbating until your cock is raw
3

@MarkHenderson Pretty sure that's not it either....

@Jacob Denial

@MichaelHampton oh, if only...

4:54 AM
@MarkHenderson uh no

5:12 AM
good morning lovers

5:28 AM
damn vimadventures
can't make it past level 2 :)

5:51 AM
@Jacob yup!'

Wow, @Jacob and @FalconMomot at the same time!

Look! a dragon!
someday my test will complete
then, it will be finished.
that is all I have to say about that.

@RyJones they must be burgling the office together!

@FalconMomot no, you will find a constant was actually a variable, and you'll need to fix that and run again
been having arguments with a co-worker that expects wifi to have full fidelity in a capture.

@DennisKaarsemaker Oh no, a witness! Slip on these handcuffs and gimp mask, would you?

5:54 AM
"wireshark has a bug, it keeps saying tcp ack for missing segment!" "you missed a retransmit or some fragmentation" "but the capture from the wired network only shows one packet and one packet only!"

@RyJones what, you mean the ISM band and license-exempt operation means that the circuit is lossy? Crazy talk.
@DennisKaarsemaker zip
you didn't photoshop that did you? :P

@FalconMomot his counter argument is that it's in the RF cage, so there can't be any interference. Other than the 150 other systems in that cage using wifi, sure

@FalconMomot no, too lazy. Just googled it. In "private browsing" mode...

5:56 AM
visiting the swyvl website fills every page with retargeted ads for swyvl, even though I own one and am not buying a second

@RyJones yeah also amazon gives me ads for things I just bought from them
context- and tracking-targeted ads make sense until you think about what you're really doing :P
hmm, I am apparently compiling openoffice filters for lotus word pro

@FalconMomot agreed.

for that one time in the history of the universe someone will send me a lotus word pro document

nooo, don't think about what you do. it's dangerous!

can you even get lotus word anymore?

5:59 AM
@FalconMomot sure, from medical transcriptionists

wordperfect 5.5 is locked in for lawyers... forever

yeah, I know how that one works.
did @Jacob ever come back?

scared him off

I'm going to drink tea and play TF2, and grouse about the fact that I don't have a porterhouse steak in front of me.

6:03 AM
13 coins is open
although I usually get the steak David

oh did you hear someone is trolling the seattle hacker community for socialite hackers with more money than god for a reality TV show?
I don't think I've heard anything so absurd in a long time.

STEAK DAVID*. Our Filet Mignon grilled, topped with dungeness crab and housemade hollandaise, served on a bed of sauteéd spinach.

also FYI I am in Calgary right now :P
otherwise I'd come join you
I'm back next Wednesday

I have not heard that, but I can see it happening

oh I believe it but it's absurd.
anyway, to TF2!

6:06 AM
to bed, sadly, or I'd join you

@FalconMomot yes

@MarkHenderson Yeah I've got a few people that have hit the 0000 mark with me.
Like, a long time ago.

6:25 AM
@Wesley People are dumb
We don't need them
2

6:41 AM
I see dumb people

6:51 AM
Morning!

morning

7:09 AM
Oooh, Wasteland 2 was released a few hours ago. Guess I'm playing hookey today!

7:20 AM
morning

@Jacob what did you want?

this friday somehow feels like a monday.

herrow

@DennisNolte This has been a week full of Mondays.
@FalconMomot Havne't seen your punk head in a while.

7:29 AM
sup?

G'day

7:45 AM
ock aye the no!
very happy, made nine hundred quid off the scots misery :)
6

you bet on it?

@FalconMomot Mongoing all the DBs
@Iain Cycling plans for the weekend?
Gonna bike up to the border and moon the Scots? =)

oh no, tomorrow starts Oktoberfest in Munich
I should leave the city

@tombull89 yup
@tombull89 I used to build trading floor networks right, a lot of my mates still work there - they bet on all manner of stupid shit, sometimes I do to - never things like strictly/xfactor or anything like that, rarely sports either but things like this referendum are right up my street

@faker make holidays here, we have enough beer, and way cheaper.

7:55 AM
@Chopper3 I'm not a betting person at all

@tombull89 I wouldn't consider I am either, just this kind of odd thing

@DennisNolte I've used up all my holidays already :/

mornin' gents

@Magellan Roughly what part of your day is this

8:06 AM
@Wesley It's my early evening, really. I live pretty cloes to GMT+10 this time of year.
I'll be sleeping enough to go to bed in another hour or so.
@Wesley I prefer the timezone shift when the southern hemisphere jumps ahead for their summer and we jump back. My days aren't offset so far then.

@Chopper3 Where do you bet on that kinda thing? Any of those Euro betting sites friendly to Americans wanting to open an account?

dunno, don't think normal bookmakers would take things like that
one of my housemates wants to put £20 on one guy winning the x factor

@tombull89 I know a lot of my European friends and colleagues have been betting online on non-sports things for years... when I asked (years ago), it was some betting site that wasn't taking American customers at the time, no doubt due to the fuckwits at the DoJ prosecuting all the online gambling sites. >:/

Today is a particular day in my school history - 10 years ago today Eric Pryzd relesed his "call on me" song and video. When I was in school I e-mailed a link to the song to a fellow student...the ICT manager called me out and banned me from the computers for "distributing mild porn".
It's become something as a family joke.

morning

8:17 AM
'ola.

He didn't like me much.

@HopelessN00b this was just betfair

@Chopper3 And you made 900 quid? Wasn't "no" paying out at 1:4 or something like that? Big bet.
Alas, I are not permitted to register with Betfair from the country I are in. :(
Bloody Americans.
3

@HopelessN00b put it on about 8 weeks ago

Ahhh... I really gotta find a way to open an account at one of these online bookmakers. Being Canadian ought be useful for something, even if only skirting stupid American laws.

8:31 AM
@Magellan It's almost 2AM right now, but you know what time that is for me?
2AM

yesterday we launched a new website and put out a press release which was only missing a small detail: A link to the new site.

@faker to qoute fefe : "one time with professionals"

@faker You didn't want to do that anyway. All the traffic would have crashed the site.
:D

not that anyone would read our press releases anyway

Still, classic.

8:35 AM
@Wesley =p

the team that develops this site is anyway crazy, since the name includes blacklist they send e-mails from a different domain and not mention that word in any e-mail because they fear of getting blacklisted for spam

@Magellan Been up since 7AM
ugh. Time to shove off.

@Wesley same here sadly

'nother 16 hours tomorrow because what's being youngish if you're not driving yourself into an early grave.

so instead they send mails as HTML and put the name as an image and all links back are channeled through external services. Which, uh, is exactly what spammers do...

8:39 AM
Early graves are for people who don't want to see themselves age.
@faker That sounds fantastic. :D
Okay, faceplant time

8:52 AM
We've bought a couple of small HP StoreEasy Nas boxes, they're Windows Storage Server 2012R2 based and two of my guys have been working with the HP installers all bloody week struggling to get it added into our AD, all sorts of problems; netbios/15-char name issues, couldn't create the cluster object, couldn't link to the file server object etc. Driving me nuts, hate to do it but I'm going to have to get some MS people in or on the phone :(
This is weird - very - just reading about LarryE stepping down as CE at Oracle, I used to work for Msrk Hurd, one of his successors - that's odd, I had one of those shiver moments down my back.

@Chopper3 demons from the past coming back to haunt you?

9:08 AM
@DennisKaarsemaker not really, I liked him, very focussed and quite charming compared to many at his level

9:21 AM
Ugh. A little help nuking this shit, please?

Q: no internet connection after upgrading Ubuntu 14

Benjamin HarelI upgraded to 14 from 12. But then the system totally lost internet connection. What should I fix. I definitely can write more characters. But it does not help.

@HopelessN00b to be honest, i had that issue aswell, turned out to be the deinstallation of the network-manager, all those pesky tools these days, just let me write my interfaces file and start my own services..
with blackjack and hookers!
5

@DennisNolte Still, "halp, halp why do I has no internet... o, i rebooted and its working now" is shit that needs to be eliminated from the site at all costs.

9:43 AM
what not to do when you get your iPhone 6 ...youtube.com/watch?v=RjaxxC2bys0

Bob
9:56 AM
@HopelessN00b Without clicking: is it that guy in Perth who dropped it?

Today, it's "fuck you friday" and the spinny wheel lands on...EXTERNAL E-MAILS! Yayyyyyy!
@Bob erm, if you mean me, yes it is.

@Bob I don't think so. Just some dumbass who thinks that "reboot" is a proper answer to "why did my Ubuntu upgrade break the intertubies?"
Ugh, fucking Steam. Nothing like actually buying a game to remind me why I pirate them. Incompetent pricks.

@HopelessN00b steam still tops origin with magnitudes.

@HopelessN00b wat
If you said uPlay, I'd agree. But Steam is typically quite good.

i like that it finally works when you dont have internet.
at least as long as you "activated" the game before .

10:01 AM
Bought game, downloaded it (twice), won't move out of the temporary downloading folder, and is thus, unplayable. Steam support is experiencing high ticket volume and wants me to register a new account so I can tell them to fix their fucking shit.

Alternately, download it from TPB and save 4 hours (so far), not to mention the money I paid for this headache.

Bob
@tombull89 Oh yea. Reply fail :\
@HopelessN00b ^, sorry

@HopelessN00b well, for a lot of older titles i do similiar, i own the cds and either rip it +nocd-crack or have the licence for the game and have the "external copy" somewhere on drive..

I do find Steams pricing to be a bit odd sometime - Watch Dogs was £39.99 though Steam but I went to G2A and got a code for just under £17

Bob
@tombull89 Yea, careful with those codes.
IIRC a lot of sites are reselling codes that came free with video cards.

@Bob I've bought four games off of G2A, never had any issues (Watch Dogs, Portal 2 (as a gift) Spec Ops: The Line, and Sleeping Dogs)

Bob
10:04 AM
Was suspiciously cheap ($16) here: ozbargain.com.au/node/156336

Not sure I can be fucked with today, might sack it off and play bf4 instead

Dan
10:22 AM
@Chopper3 It's a dull Friday morning - get onto XHamster, crack one off and then spend the rest of the day gaming.

@Chopper3 play any of the CTE Final Stand maps?

@tombull89 no, can't be bothered with the extra downloads

@Chopper3 not sure what to think of them to be honest...they should leave the futuristic stuff for 2142
although if they did a 2143 after Battlefront I would be very happy with that.

@tombull89 do nothing for me, the railgun is silly for a start
@tombull89 looking forward to the star wars one very much

@Chopper3 I just hope that Battlefront and 2143 is "done properly" and not rushed like BF4 was.

2 hours later…
12:06 PM
sup

@cole It's FRIDAY!
explosions

thank jesus
Fuck this week in the ass with no lube.
4

This is pretty neato: gegeek.com

oh god, reddit's gone pirate

12:10 PM
yarrrr!

wat
Oh, I see.

@cole wtf, this is nice looking

12:44 PM
Jesus, freaking developers. It's surprising they can wipe their own asses. Wait, can developers wipe their own asses?

Do I want to know the answer to that?

@Hennes Well, if they can't parse the difference between "C:" and "V:", it would logically follow that other extremely simple tasks (like ass-wiping) might also escape their grasp.

Bob
@HopelessN00b I sense a story behind this.

@Bob Nothing all that interesting. Just 6 hours of my life lost because some dipshit developer decided that anything that exists on a Windows system must be located on the C drive.

@HopelessN00b WipeAss(): Command not found

12:53 PM
... when, in fact, I had it located on the V drive, because I'm not a moron who has a single gigantic volume for everything on my Windows installs.

Huh, that's weird. I had answered a question and SE told me the question was removed by the author. But...the OP replied to the answer and the question's still there.
I is confuzzled.

Could have deleted it... then undeleted it... then self-answered it. Happens irritatingly often.

@HopelessN00b Well, they commented on my answer. It was kinda a junk question anyway...
"Can I use SBS 2011 with a 2012 R2 server on the same network?" was the basic question ...and no, no you can't.
That is, unless you give M$ more cash

I vaguely remember being disgusted by that question recently, I think.

Q: Google DNS was faster at the beginning but slower over time?

Andy HI am haveing an ADSL home connection at around 1M bps (150 KB/s) with a NetGear WiFi modem router. At first, I used the DNS assigned by by the ISP. The Ping response time is typically over 1000ms against yahoo.com and google.com etc. Then I changed to Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. The Ping res...

kill!

1:05 PM
@faker Damn, is ADSL so shitty that 300ms+ latency is normal?
Then again, at night with netflix streaming my poor cable connection goes >500ms

@NathanC no, not at all. But who knows where he is from...
ah, profile says Australia

Bob
@HopelessN00b ...oh, those programs.

@HopelessN00b mklink could help - helped me get around some nasty bugs in 3rd party software.

Ugh, people abusing the code tags irritates me
Because every buzzword or program needs a code tag

Bob
@NathanC It's normal if you have such low bandwidth and it's saturated. I'd bet money on that being the case here.
(Incidentally... Google public DNS servers in Aus have had routing issues in the recent past, as I discovered while trying to use them as a latency test. Completely unrelated, of course.)

1:09 PM
@Bob It's a 50/5 connection, but I also don't know how much bandwidth netflix in HD mode eats

Bob
@NathanC Well, I was talking about the ADSL guy with 1M down and unknown up.

@NathanC Hm. Some form of emphasis makes posts more readable for me. People tend to overdo it though.

Bob
I know nothing about cable nor Netflix.

@fuero Yeah, a recent question I edited made it way too confusing

Q: How to find out who accessed a document?

eeliasI got a call today from a friend asking for help, it is not my area, he is from a school, it is a big institution. They have 2 windows 2003 server sp 1, one for MS Sql and the other is Domain controller. The internal network is based on Windows XP sp 3. There is a linux firewall and proxy for...

Mmm... popcorn

oooohhh - nvida 980's out today....

1:12 PM
Last night I got to deal with my desktop PC suddenly deciding it wanted to spit out graphics card BSOD's
Got bad enough that it would even freeze on the Windows Error Recovery screen...
I moved the graphics card to the other PCI-E slot and it works fine now....

Bob
@NathanC Tried cleaning out the original slot?

morning

sup @Basil

@cole the gegeek site's design reeks of chm shudder

Damn, every time I visit a new vendor's website lately, I come to the conclusion that there's another MBA out in the world that I desperately want to set on fire and kick down a flight of stairs.

1:21 PM
@fuero yeah the design isn't great but that's a lot of info in one place.

@cole a little Windows heavy, but the PowerShell section will come in handy. Thanks for sharing :-)

@fuero I wish I had time to put something to together like this for Linux and Windows. (since i do both)

We keep a wiki around where we put our cheatsheets/references, but it's messy.

powershell is awesome

Has saved me from many OpenSSL related headaches though
I swear I'll do horrible things to whoever came up with its syntax.

1:34 PM
Yep @NathanC - I went here:
No personal offense to you OP, but it doesn't sound like you know enough to be the one investigating this for them. — TheCleaner 33 secs ago

@TheCleaner Heh. Guess I'm the polite one today.
> if you're trying to catch a technically skilled individual abusing their administrative privileges, it really helps if you have some technical chops of your own. In this case, that might mean covertly bringing in outside help.

but this is not a big deal
uh

It never is a big deal until it is a big deal, right?

haha - "yeah, it's serious alright, but we're on a budget".

It would be a Big Fucking Deal with brass bells and lights and all kinds of fancy decorative extras here if students were reading exam questions like that.

I can't be the only one who thinks "good for them, smart kids" ... can I? I almost feel bad for helping to bust them.

Well... needs to be leaked to the media first to make it officially a big deal for them.
@HopelessN00b: Yeah, I sympathize too. Especially if they make it that easy.

We had a student here who found an unlocked room with a staff laptop logged in and logged into the school management system. Wiped all but a few of their behaviour points and it was a while before anyone noiced. Think it took CCTV to see what had happened.

The problem is, you don't want to be speculating on something like this where students and staff could be suspended/disciplined/etc. If you give even an opinion on this the school could take it as a qualified expert opinion and run with it. You are better off telling them to hire a firm to do this. You might be wanting to help, but there are legalities involved that you don't want to accidentally end up involved in. — TheCleaner 20 secs ago

'course... that's exactly the type of thing I'd do in classes I was weak in. Only makes sense, really. Why should I spend 8 hours studying French when I can spend 8 minutes on the library computers and get the exam answers?

1:47 PM
all I say to that kid is GG. We tell people to lock their rooms and their machines.

> Just lean on the kids to spill who it was.

Reminds me of this: http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/security.png

@MichaelHampton or @tombull89 or someone else that might know (sorry don't know who all is intimately involved in SF/SE. I'm curious how the whole "draft saved" thing works on the site. If I start to type an answer and then close the page/tab, I know I can come back at any time to finish the answer. I can also "discard" the answer if I want. I'm just curious what is involved to make this work. It's a handy feature that I'm surprised forum sites don't have.

@TheCleaner I'm not quite sure. I know it's not based on the local machine because I started a post in work, went home, and found it waiting for me on my home PC.

@tombull89 even more interesting

Spammers getting my email from my domains WHOIS... thank god for WHOIS guard

2:02 PM
@Bob Yeah. It seems that every few months the slot the card's plugged into decides to quit working and swapping it makes it work again

I was curious HOW this works...I like the feature and was curious how it was implemented. It appears to function server-side, but I'm curious if anyone can shed some light on it. — TheCleaner 34 secs ago

@TheCleaner It's database-driven I'd imagine. AJAX calls to save the text you're typing to the database (much like Google Docs stuff)
It's probably not on forum software by default because of how heavy-traffic that sort of thing is

Bob
@NathanC That's really weird.

It's Friday fun post upvote day!!!!

A: How to find out who accessed a document?

TheCleaner The problem is that someone apparently could get access to a coordinator PC where the exams were prepared and copied the file. I think it's pretty obvious how they did it:

Wheee, our ERP software is crashing and burning again

2:13 PM
@NathanC Ours is rocking right along today. (knocks on 11g server)

@TheCleaner Heh. It happens often enough that we have a procedure for dealing with it...

Argh. librarian-puppet is giving me the finger.

I have a batch file that everyone runs to launch the ERP software ...I can disable access to the app by putting a .disabled file in the same folder as the program

@TheCleaner FIREfox infestation? Pesky little pests :-)

2:18 PM
@fuero I like their "server room" door. High tech stuff there!

Could as well be taken from some building at our site.
"Freiheit für Forschung und Lehre". bah.
Abandoning common sense is more like it.

@TheCleaner Oooh, fire

@Wesley No plans at the moment but I'm sure something will happen. The border is a but far too.

2:36 PM
@tombull89 You know, it's things like that which convince me that that the best condition for crime isn't darkness, but cold weather. Walk around Florida in a ski mask, and you'll make it 2 blocks before the cops curb-stomp you. OTOH, back in my frozen homeland, I'd walk around a third of the year without a square inch of skin showing.

@NathanC Lol, awesome. On that note, I'm off to find a box of crickets.

Printing and hanging a Certificate of Failure when a coworker brings down a server isn't funny.
lol

@NathanC pretty hilarious - my friend tagged me on FB and linked that haha.

haha

The comments are pretty depressing. Lotta humorless fuckwits in our profession, evidently. (Shocking, I know.)

3:24 PM
@MichelZ I need to do that.
Although, I'd be printing out them way too often.

I know a couple of occasions where I need that

I know of too many times.
Like how my coworker setup 6 production boxes and didn't set them up in NetWorker

@NathanC Heh, the first one... this is still my favourite Annoy-a-Tron story.

It's not necessary to conduct a turing test on new hires to ensure they're not robots.

> Do not assign contractors numbers and refer to them by number alone, even if they take well to the system and begin addressing eachother by number.
bwahaha I got to remember that one

Bloody earthquake scaring me to death ...

Blow-up dolls are not to be stored on company premises or left in chairs with 'out of office' signs draped around them.
@NathanC thx, that was a very good laugh!

> Two by fours are no longer allowed in employee offices, nor are sticks, or any other objects that could be deemed a 'clue by four' or a 'clue stick'.
> Nerf products are not allowed in the office.
that could sting me :-)

haha
A good laugh on a Friday

@fuero How are you supposed to do your job, then?

Do I really just need to embrace Ubuntu?

@fuero "I quit."

Bob
@ewwhite huh, didn't expect to see them there

@ewwhite nooooo, don't!

I think I'm just surprised how many of these job ads say, "WE USE UBUNTU"

@ewwhite I can't believe how these job ads say "WE USE PHP"
:)

3:55 PM
@ewwhite I think it's reasonable and valid to question their sanity if they're using Ubuntu.

@MichaelHampton but when most of the jobs seem to say that, there's some momentum to content with.

@ewwhite Lemmings off the cliff...

> Hiring PHP developers does not contribute to the quota of employees with disabilities.
I like that one

@MichaelHampton I use ubuntu for both desktop and servers

@Nick I rest my case.

3:59 PM
@Nick That's a banning offense 'round these parts son....

"Don't care" is not an appropriate status for a ticket.

Neither is "Can't be bothered to fix"

Nor "To be fixed if dev ever get around to it".

Nor "Not fixable due to management incompetence".
