@lsiunsuex I had a buddy who had a radar detector. He got 3 tickets while he had it. Because the police all have newer style radar guns with a trigger. They don't send out anything for your detector to pickup on until the cop pulls the trigger, and before you can hit the brakes it's too late.
i've gotten more than my share (probably > 20 since i started driving) traffic violations in general - speeding, to dark window tint, under body neon lights, talking on a cell phone, etc...
I'm in the same boat as @ChrisS- no moving violations, and I'll likely never get one. I drive the speed limit and never do a rolling stop through a stop sign.
I got pulled over the other day and the cop asked me if I knew why. I genuinely didn't as for once I wasn't breaking the law. I felt like saying "Depends on how long you've been following me", but that wasn't the case. Ended up being expired license tabs, borrowing my sister's car and she didn't renew.
@ChrisS That happened to me a few years ago. I bought the car after the tag reminders would have already been sent out, then I completely forgot. I actually asked the cop if he was sure. Took me a bit by surprise.
once when i ran the car club. we held a meetup at a local starbucks. something like 100-150 people from the local university showed up (big parking lot) - earlier that week i got pulled over for under body neons. that night, 7 cops + 7 troopers + 1 drug dog showed up. one of the cops walked right up to me; "don't i know you?" "didnt i pull you over earlier this week" yes? "get the f' out of here"... that was the last of that.

I need to query a whole bunch of Proliant servers for the firmware version on their NICs. I know I can find this information through HP Insight Management page, but the sheer number I need to check makes this a daunting task. Anyone know of a way to get this information remotely through WMI or ...

@voretaq7 Don't remember offhand. Something about running Chicago and making cubic meters of money at it. I mostly remember the lesson about not putting your end in places that you wouldn't want to introduce to your mother.
@MarkHenderson Ah. That's not too bad then. They're just recently adopting that in certain areas here. Being a distrustful git, I don't like having to tie my name to my ballot.
And I certainly wouldn't trust the local election officials not to use different handwriting legibility standards for ballots that voted for opposition parties.
Best part is that I got a phone call to come in and verify my signature because the ballot wasn't sufficiently legible. I hadn't even voted yet.
@voretaq7 Oh that. Taxes I'm not worried about. That's small potatoes compared to the Child Support Enforcement people. Miss a payment and they shut your passport and cancel your driver's license and any other state-issued licenses.
@voretaq7 That's doesn't matter. If some lady decides somewhere that you're the Daddy, half the time the judges ignore the DNA evidence and decide that you're "close enough" and you get to pay child support for 21 years.
@MarkHenderson Well, there's states where there's no cap on child support. They can take every last penny you'll ever make.
I had a co-worker whose wife left him while kid was still in-utero, moved to Hawaii and filed for divorce and child support the day after the kid was born. They took 70% of his income and he's never been allowed to even see his kid.
That would put most people below the poverty line, surely?
@Adrian Honestly, if I had that enforced on me, I would skip the country as soon as possible. I'd rather be exiled and lead a healthy life than live below the poverty line
@MarkHenderson Yeah. If you don't have that kind of money, you end up homeless and with a suspended driver's license. And unemployable because your pay is garnished up to the maximum the moment you get a check.
My sisters husband has 50/50 custody of his kids, but what ends up happening most of the time is my sister is left looking after his kids and she pays for their schooling, etc, but she has no legal right over them at all. So she basically has to be their parent, but has no rights
For example, one of the kids got suspended from school while she had them, but she wasn't allowed to go and meet with the principal, only the husband was
She can't go to parent teacher interviews, but she's expected to enforce the homework rules
It's all just messy
(it doesn't help that the ex-wife is vindictive and chummy with the principal)

@MarkHenderson yeah, that happened to a woman I dated a couple years ago too. Total mess there. And the husband screwed up their taxes by claiming the child even though he had no right to do so, and she had to pay the $5k in back-taxes since he was a dead-beat anyway.
@MarkHenderson The only nice thing is that if you're actually up to date on your payments and the custodial parents tries to claim that you're not, the State keeps records of your payments.
