You're not - it's definitely not intuitive and a later change has made Jeff's answer less than useful - the chat links in the side bar don't always turn up now.

Why does SF replace chat with blog, instead of something like Meta since meta seems to be a place for you to just be told you're an idiot? At least in chat there's talk of boobs. Or just add a full-time blog link.
I'd ask in meta but they'd just tell me why I'm stupid. I have users for that, I don't need the site doing that.

Instead of questioning why you'd have a link that changes to something totally unrelated for 24 hours.
And why chat is replaced instead of something like "meta" or some other random thing. Be consistent in your inconsistency...randomly change which part of your interface is going to be changed. So then your blog link could just randomly replace something with each new blog entry.

Also, I haven't seen Jeff in m.SF lately. There's at least two tag burn requests and there's been no response. But I guess when you're overseeing the fracturing of the sites into tiny hyper specialized pieces, things get back-burnered
Aside from the usual bullshit there's some escalation of stress and steam, but nothing I shouldn't be able to find a reason to get out of bed for in the morning.
Although it's really bullshit to have someone say that Chat is worthless because they don't use it when a number of people here dedicate a fuckload of their time into answering questions and participating on the site and then get their concerns shrugged off like that.
And then talk about it being community centered and community run when chat fosters an important connection among many of the participants.
We should start our own fucking Facebook page for SF chat then start posting to their FB SE and see how meta inception that can get. And we'll use a fucking Paddington Taxi as our mascot.

Things are getting a little better than they had been lately...wife's concussion seems to have healed up mostly, she finally had the infection in her sinuses identified as a staph infection so that can get better treatment after three months, and tomorrow she's having a growth on her arm removed to see if it's a carcinoma.
My sciatica thing was like...what...early last month. That was just a WTH thing that happened where I was glad I still had those leftover pills rather than another trip for the insurance company to bitch about paying.

Mostly just because you see that to a user that has 300 rep, which is above the average, aye? And considering he was previously mentioned to have bad answers, it's more context of the chat than anything, I doubt someone outside the chat (or anyone that is not me as I have a weird way of associating things in my mind) will construe that as snark
Have a customer who's got a Lenovo server. 4 drives in a RAID10, one SSD, one standalone drive. The Lenovo utilities on his (Windows) install are reporting a drive failure, but won't tell him which one. We connect to his machine, install the RAID management utility, etc. Alarm starts going off immediately, OK good. Then we fire up the management client. It's a web interface. Rather than making a sensible GUI program, it installed fucking Apache *just* to serve up the interface. And the client only works in Internet Explorer. Except it doesn't work, it crashes.
Oh, even better… the utility wasn't preinstalled on the machine or on Lenovo's site. Coworker had to track down the make of the RAID card, go to the site, install the driver. The driver install drops a setup executable for the management utility into the filesystem. You have to go find that, run it, it installs the utility. Then through trial and error discover it only works properly in IE. Fun.
@MarkM The Lenovo desktops are pretty decent, we sell a lot of those. As for the laptops, only the ones that are the Thinkpad line from IBM are good in our opinion.
@jscott From what I recall, the SE sites use Lenovo servers. Believe it or not.
@MarkM Yeah, I'm a fan as well.... Our X200s don't have touchpads, but the X201s do. I also like the three different replacement tips they provide: convex bumps, concave bumps and crusty-fuzz.

OK, it requires some soldering inside the cable, but it's definitely do-able. Easiest way: Join all the TX pins to a common point, connect that point to all the RX pins (optionally with diodes, but not strictly necessary)

Enter the name of host in linux hosts file, /etc/hosts like:
192.168.2.2 mydomainame.com
or add its dns entry in your local dns to make it work.
