I am still no closer to a correct font, but I have eaten all the TimTams, and that must count as progress of some sort.

Can a mod dupe this Q with the one @Cai suggested? graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/76676/…
@ZachSaucier kinda. Edited it to be a better fit, but I think OP is never coming back anyway

morning

'lo

hey hi ho

nice weekend?
my markers arrive today...can't wait to put them on a shelf and admire them from afar xD

My best friend got married on Saturday, so yeah it was a nice weekend (except for the terrible headache on Sunday lol)

haha very good. what's a dutch wedding like? they can get a little crazy here sometimes

10:21 AM
It was a Belgian wedding. And it depends heavily on the families involved. The grooms family was quite reserved, so they stayed away from alcohol and the dancefloor for the most part. The bride's family on the other hand...

hehe i see

Hey @Vincent, good Q on the book design, I was immediately intrigued.

yeah UV'd there. never heard that term before, strange name

thanks doodz!
Any of you have any experience with printing very light shades of grey?
oh, sound slike you had fun, @PieBie

I don't...I like using grey type with some logo marks but I was always told to avoid anything below 70 (thought that was extreme, however). what's it for?

10:27 AM
it's a background design on a business card

I have no experience with print whatsoever, I am a web guy pur sang

ah i see. well if it's not gunna be photocopied then i dont see why you cant go light

I have some elements in 10% grey in the design and I'm wondering wether that will show on a white background, especially in digital print

i would imagine 10% would be a little imperceptible but it depends on the design i guess and how much white there is to contrast with it
if you're doing something like a subtle pattern or texture like these maybe go for 12-15% subtlepatterns.com

lemme post a screenshot
this is the idea
and there's 100% in the logo, 50% grey, some colour, and some 10%

10:37 AM
ooh nice...so you're worried about the little squares?
i would say it's alright in that case
the structure of the pattern is very strong and well spaced so i dont think a lighter grey would be a problem

Q: Handling image masks and borders when exporting Sketch to Adobe XD

JaneDoe1337I am trying to export some of my current designs, made in Sketch App, to Adobe XD so I can make small prototypes out of them. I don't want to be remaking these in XD, so I export them instead. However, the file has a number of image masks that don't export well in the recommended SVG. Is there ...

11:08 AM
@johnp thanks for the opinion! :D

:3

1 hour later…
12:44 PM
@johnp I convinced to customer to go offset anyway, so I have way less fear that the visibility will be bad. Upping to 12% to be sure, though

cool
hard to say with digital printers i imagine...

sigh, back in the office

1:05 PM
@johnp yeah, in my experience digiprint in less reliable and is not as good at light colours as offset
@Ryan awsum pic! :D

yas. very painterly @Ryan

Thanks guys! I think I'm going to try to get this one printed. If it comes out well it might be the one I try to raffle off

I love the balance in shapes

hi guys. @johnp I checked the tiny international section at my grocery store, only candies from your region were Mars bars, Aero bars, and Maltesers

1:28 PM
@Ryan this is really awesome.

@JohnB blush thanks

2:45 PM
@Ryan One of the aspects of the question I ended up not including was whether 'critical spine' is a term. Googling ended up zip for me, indeed, but I translated the term from Dutch literally.

3:14 PM
@JohnB aw no kinder then...aero mint are nice. thought that was everywhere though. think nestle make it
the smell of alcohol markers is nom

@johnp addict :P

haha
i havent drank in months mmkayy? :P

suuuure :P

3:26 PM
trying to think of minimal ways to communicate the theme of corruption...tis a tricky one

@johnp I bought one of those water brush tube things you showed me and a water color sketchbook (not a great one though in terms of paper weight). Much nicer than the pencils alone
Still think I'd be happier with Oils but going to give this a shot. Might even go back to the gardens with no camera and just focus on painting next week

oh cool, you like it then? it's portable at least
mine arrived in the mail but i havent had a chance to use it yet

Its pretty cool. Need to practice more like my set of pencils didn't come with any shades or tints of red but it did come with a white. I still haven't been able to make a pink out of it yet. But I need to practice. I might fill this entire first sketchbook up with color wheels and gradients and stuff to try and learn that before I go back in the field

if you shade really lightly with the red and mix it with a lot of water itll give you a light transparent pink. personally i think it's nicer to use the water to max without adding any white. except for maybe specular highlights
i like this artist. she uses a white gel pen at the end for white highlights youtube.com/watch?v=qWmF-bJj5Xs
i would recommend a white molotow acrylic pen or posca white brush marker instead though

I just need to practice, a lot more. I brought it with me to work so maybe on my lunch break I'll play with it a bit

3:41 PM
nice, sketch your lunch :P lol

I really think I need to start with color wheels before trying anything else

4:10 PM
oh just watched another video that came up after the one you linked. It shows Masking Fluid. That stuff looks very handy

yeah it's nice, smells absolutely horrid though! you can get it in pen form too, but if you're gunna use it, use a cheap brush cus it will ruin whatever brush you use for it
you can also use candlegrease if you get a white candlestick and draw with it...the water will avoid the waxed areas

4:28 PM
is this guy looking for the word "font"? :O graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/76753/…

lol yes I do believe so
Font Family might also be acceptable

strange thing is...
he used the typography tag so you would imagine he'd have an idea...
the night is dark and full of terrors

4:58 PM
weird that your answer was downvoted...

We should make a candy ring. Everybody sends local candy to somebody else on this chat :P

lol can I make it myself? @joojaa >:)

I'm in! @joojaa I did that with another online group once. Great fun even though I sent 2 and only ended up receiving 1
But we didn't restrict to candy so the one I got was from France and included Fig, Armagnac (french cognac), and Pate among some other stuff
@johnp meh. Let people downvote me. IDGAF lol

yeah, i just think that whole question is a troll though, very suspicious

I feel like I need a blow dryer for water colors :\

5:08 PM
Oukay, be prepared for salmiakki
so where do i send this stuff?

you may be able to get a chemical to speed up drying, though i think the one i saw was for slowing the drying process even more...it shouldnt be that bad though!
