tell them that it has to be priced by word count, either they are trying to short hand you by the page count but you should ask what their pricing is set for print as it would seem they have a page count in mind which is another complete item to discuss.

nah, there's no real limit to the page, just a limit to the budget (that's not known to me)

I'd go with around 20 to 45 minutes per page without knowing word count and such. But you really need to know a word count and/or page count

for a 250-page book that sounds like a lot of time, @Ryan

um.. the budget for designing a book includes knowing what the final page count is and what the printed book dimensions are, how are you going to know what to design if you do not know the trim size and page count?

It's an outsourced job for another designer

they deal with the customer, they design the cover and do things for the cover

Well I'm considering that you said there's pictures. If its educational than there's probably a lot of different colors and heading types to put in place. And then any changes and such.

not sure where the data is from but it shows some different prices and times

layout about 6 to 10 pages an hour... Newsletters 1 to 4 pages an hour...

you'd be somewhere in between if not closer t newsletters since there's pictures and such in an educational book

(I'm picture this educational book being like a small textbook, which could be completely wrong)

if this is mostly just text all black and white with a photo or illustration every few pages that's completely different

The copy is 144 pages of A4

And I can quote a per-page fee so more pages means more expensive
