When I'm President, I'm regulating Password interfaces. Companies by law must, upon a failed login attempt, state what their initial password requirements/restrictions are.
just got a request to submit resume again to someone on LinkedIn. Instead of my usual rejection I'm actually asking them for a job description and to know where they have offices.
Hey, I'm helping someone on a simple wordpress site and the theme we chose hides the subheader on mobile devices. Any tips for finding where it would be? I'm not seeing it as <h2> or as .site-description in any of the @media stuff
@Vincent it's weird I found .site-description { display: none; } but its not inside an @media and when I remove it then it stays visible if I make window smaller but still not showing on mobile
if I click on one of the posts it doesn't show the site-description but viewing the source I can still see it. So I guess its there but something's hiding it again
If your'e shooting a movie worth thousands or hundreds of thousands, or millions of dollars... is it really so hard to get the cast together for a photoshoot? Really that intern with Photoshop will do a LOUSY job of pasting them all into the same image....
I have noticed that some browsers (in particular, Firefox and Opera) are very zealous in using cached copies of .css and .js files, even between browser sessions. This leads to a problem when you update one of these files but the user's browser keeps on using the cached copy.
The question is: w...
I am currently making some web images and am getting very riggid lines. Exhisting images on the website seem to differ (these images are pre me so I do not know how they created them so differently).
Does anybody know why they are so different? The image on the left has very smooth edges, whils...

What is Stack Overflow's long-term solution for the Help Vampire problem?
Quote from article follows:
Identifying Help Vampires can be tricky, because they look like any ordinary person (or Internet user, whichever is lesser). But by closely observing an individual's behavior using this hand...
at least with pencil, there is the trusty eraser. with ink, none, your horribly misjudged attempts of limbs are there perpetrated for the model to have nightmares forever
maybe digital arts breeds insecurity, because you can always go back
I'm with you, I am used to the micro movements of the mouse. have to say, it is quite interesting and humbling to draw with ink. it is like a reality check: yup, this is what you can draw, don't fool yourself
I actually went and read about classic Chinese ink drawing, just to feel better, and the article was explaining that it is not a realistic drawing form of art, but a symbolic one, which makes a lot of sense
I am used to knuckle hitting teachers, so it was refreshing : )
I also get to get away from my office, which is great for me and for my bf. we both work from home so we start developing a serious case of cabin fever with folie a deux if we are not careful
I have a bird feeder in the backyard so the squirrels and birds keep luring me to the deck window... they are sometimes way more fascinating than CSS : )
we'll solve that and have to work on something else
I think I would get in trouble if I said what I really wanted to... The amount of time some people put into asking an entry level question they could have easily googled it and found tutorials
tiny computer to store all of my data. 30% remaining free space on my current NAS
I could just replace the drives in that one for larger capacity, but I think it might by a good idea to keep it as an added backup for the important stuff.
@BESW circles and disks I've heard of - never heard of horns before. Have a reference or painting in mind? I could see if he wanted a circle behind an arrow that you might call that a Halo. Regardless it certainly doesn't sound like a "Standard Term"
The "horns" thing is a good example of language's impreciseness: the Latin Vulgate version of the Bible features an interesting translation choice. It seems that the translator felt only Christ should be depicted with "rays of light" coming from his head.
The Bible used the Hebrew word karan for this, which had multiple possible meanings, and he chose a different Latin word depending on whether it was applied to Christ or other figures. The word he used for Moses's glorification in Exodus was cornuta, which literally means "horned."
There's also an artistic tradition wherein halos are rendered as flat disks resting on the figure's head, rather than floating behind also perfectly parallel to the viewer:
