@MartinSojka my solution fixes the not-constructive aspect. I'd argue TL is slightly misguided here (TL itself is an odd close reason...). The question I'm envisioning then becomes about character motivations. "how does motivation x impact my game play" is not TL IMO.
I've read here a lot about proper English... but English is not my native language, in fact, I'm not very confidence on my writing skills... is that going to be a real problem when asking a question?
An hour ago I made a question and I'm still getting the feeling that I didn't make myself clear...
You might be able to place a comment on your question. "English is not my first language. If you can help make my question clearer, can you edit this?"
Might help create more productive edits rather than people closing the question because they do not understand it.
To be honest, I was overwhelmed by the number and the frequency of the comments... and that's another point, when asking a question, should I answer to the comments, the answers? I'm having problems with the etiquette if you know what I mean
@Cazacurdas it shouldn't be. if you can communicate effectively enough to get your point across we have a group of fabulous editors who work on questions basically from the moment they are posted
@Cazacurdas answer when you feel the need, but often the answer to a comment is to edit the question to make it clearer.
Ok. And one more thing. It seems that I asked a question too broad to fit the requirements, should I delete the question? It was closed by some users, and I have to say that I cannot disagree on the points they made.
You don't have to delete it. You can try to fix it, if you think it can be fixed.
Sometimes the response to new users is a little harsh. Don't take it personally. People are just trying to keep new questions in line with the content standards.
@Cazacurdas glad to hear it, we try to go out of our way to be polite, especially to new folks. But sometimes it's hard to nicely say "we're closing your question, here's how to fix it"
In my case, my answer was something like "this is not the question to want to ask", and they were right.
I can see, by the changes they've made to the question, that maybe I didn't provide enough information, but once again, I found difficult getting the right length.
@Cazacurdas sure, the advice I can give is: provide more information than you think you need, you can always pull some back. But that's not always the best advice
@MadMAxJr yeah. My first question was crap, and as a result handled harshly lol. After a bit one learns the swing of things. The format here isn't like anything I've experienced elsewhere
@Cazacurdas yes. it will show a count of how many times a question was Favorited, and it will show your favorites in your profile to other users, but it's mostly just for you.
@Novian you can always use the web-published Inspirational Boost feat, giving you 1 inspiration point for each Inspirational Boost feat you have including this one. I grant you that the points are enough to polmorph into a cave troll, get another standard action and charge at an enemy twice (with belt of battle) in a single round. Plus, except for extra actions, you don't use factotum to spend points. You use it for either getting all skills as class skills or to get int bonus to initiative.
@LitheOhm I prefer to think about it as a scenario question. I try to make interesting scenarios, with stuff to do for the PCs if they feel like it, and a history to discover (and act upon this discovery) if possible.
@Novian One of the worst written spells ever. The duration could be a typo (copy-pasted spell with a field left behind) or the damage disappears after that time. However, twin maximize empower the spell and you don't have to worry about it. It slays dragons in one hit.
@BESW I've hard Guam is on the front lines against north korea. Are you ok?
Besides, what's there to do about it? We're an island accustomed to earthquakes, storms, and utility outages. Guamanians have been brutally occupied and brutally reoccupied, colonized and recolonized, forcibly relocated. Indignities, dangers, inconveniences and disasters are awful, and you take reasonable precautions to prevent or mitigate them as feasible. Then you get on with your life and don't let the possibility of Bad Stuff paralyze you.
I think it was William Sears, in response to a question about Cold War panic, who said that what's important is that you make sure you're still where you need to be, doing what needs to be done.
Also, for context, the pattern here is: a) the Western powers do something vaguely military somewhere in the Pacific; b) North Korea makes offended nuclear noises c) everyone pays attention to North Korea; d) the Western powers give North Korea aid or concessions; e) North Korea settles down.
Parts c and d are the important ones to understanding the process.
Well, I'm going to Haifa, Israel for about a week at the end of the month. Baha'i administrative duties; electing the international administrative body.
@Zachiel How long would you stay? There's never a time when North Korea rescinds its threats to bomb us out the water.
@Novian then they can make their own damn cleric. People'll always find something to gripe about. Anyway if you don't like my answer that's cool, thought it was worth the mention
@LitheOhm I've had a couple players who felt so strongly that their class choices had been stereotyped into expected play patterns that they worked with me to make sure the rest of the group didn't know what mechanics their character was actually laboring under.
"Yes, she's a paladin, but I don't want them to think of her that way. Can we just leave it a mystery and let her style and abilities come out in the sessions?"
