hey there @Quentin

Today in Adventures In RPG Kickstarters: "A traditional, old school RPG, with strong roots in Fighting Fantasy, Dungeons & Dragons, Savage Worlds and a bit of FATE." Emphasis in the original pitch.
On the up side, trawling through RPG Kickstarters is a great way to find free downloads of games that are about to get updated.

@BESW I must admit I'm a bit spotty on my RPG history.
Those influences don't sound particularly traditional, old school RPG to me
Who's the fool here?

@UrhoKarila Yeah, that's why I'm sharing that sentence.

In the USA, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owners are also being offered $100 credit to buy a new Samsung phone, or $25 if you want to switch brands.
Now without further ado, some novelty twitting.

@doppelgreener -- you mind helping me workshop rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/88630/… ?

7:33 PM
@Shalvenay i'm not sure what i'd suggest for it at the moment
I would point out that your whole (very long) post is only five sentences. One of them is very, very long. You should try to break up your run-on sentences.

@doppelgreener uhm, how many clauses are allowed in a sentence, provided that proper clause joining is used?

7:52 PM
did a bit of sentence splitting anyhow though

8:24 PM
hey there @nitsua60

@Shalvenay Tautologically, "provided that proper clause joining is used" there's no limit to the number of clauses allowed. Readability I've always assumed is well-modeled by attenuation: each clause you add is another layer and decreases exponentially the number of readers who will make it through the sentence with any comprehension.

@nitsua60 ah.

In any case, how's your Saturday going?

@nitsua60 not very well -- went to put a new graphics card in the family PC, only to discover the motherboard SATA controller died shortly thereafter

ugh =\

Q: What is a good system for a political espionage game?

Tritium21I want to run a political game, focused on intelligence and counter-intelligence. The PC's would be analysts, trying to influence their own leaders to take action (or not to take action as the case may be), in an effort to avert war, or protect their nation. I am not looking for a game system t...

can you go ahead and vtc this quickly?

9:40 PM
@Tritium21 Done. Then I noticed it's your own question, and not recently-active. What's up?

@nitsua60 Its got a couple of votes recently, so it showed up in my inboxthingy

@Tritium21 gotcha.

@nitsua60 Btw, it might be worth taking a second look at the spell components rules - the second category you mention isn't clear about whether it can be replaced or not.

@Miniman you mean "caster must provide this component for each casting" could be read as superseded by the use of either a pouch or focus?
That's a reading I'd not thought of, but which seems reasonable...
Might just strike that second point--it's not terribly germane to the titular question of costs.

Yeah, they put it in a separate paragraph, which suggests to me that it's not meant to have anything to do with pouches or foci.
I'd upvote , but I already did.

9:58 PM
@Miniman Interesting; I'd always read that para. as saying "if the component's consumed, that component must be provided (in its listed form) each time." But now I can see the faces, not the vase.

It's not very clear either way, sadly.
