On a social site (mainly for Canadians), there was a "private" computer forum, where the elite could just talk and post. Then we had our own site, our own IRC channel, our own FTP repository, etc. But that's all gone now. But through that site, I learned about Stack Overflow, posted one question, left for a couple years, then learned about Super User
My computer is BSOD'ing after every 1-2 hour. It is doing BSOD randomly. When I check for solutions no solution came up. Even the xml file is not readable.
I'll try to take an screenshot of the BSOD screen and post here. Is there a way to read that Dump file?

I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the same hard drive. I followed the instructions at:
http://www.howtogeek.com/114884/how-to-repair-grub2-when-ubuntu-wont-boot/
I followed the terminal instructions to restore grub bootloader.
Whenever I reboot. I see two entries of Windows 7 on Grub. I do...
I keep telling my wife to sue the ISP but she doesn't want to
Not only they charge for a lot of unneeded services (antivirus, backup, etc etc etc), despite unavoidable coupled sales being forbidded by law; and they charge for access to wifi hotspots that haven't ever worked for the entire year we've been using this ISP
I am running a DHCP server on Debian Wheezy, with isc-dhcp-server. Because people were connecting unauthorized machines, my DHCP leases were running thin, and eventually, authorized machines could not connect to our network. So, I asked about blocking certain MAC addresses from even picking up an...
@OliverSalzburg They're blocked via iptables, so they can get an address, but not access the Internet or other computers on the LAN. The second part to that question prevented them from getting addresses via DHCP, but they're still blocked from entering a statick IP
A follow-up from this question.
I've noticed that many spam suggested edits have edit summaries that contain an email address (examples: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]). Spambots seem to be treating the edit summary field as if it were the email field in a blog post comment form. It would be great if we to...
Oh @DragonLord I didn't mean that I was reviewing an edit at all. It was just that the proposed edit was nonsense and once I rejected it, it showed that message, that it was a test and I passed.
I've reviewed edits and stuff before. That was the first time it said "It was a test" and it also was far and above nonsense.
Was wondering if the text was randomized by the site or if someone wrote it :P
I recently received this rather amusing message while reviewing a user's first post:
Congratulations!
This was only a test, designed to make sure you were paying attention. This post
has already been removed, but thanks for taking time to leave feedback for the
author.

Though with some of the really poor english I've seen in comments and people obviously using websites very wrongly, I wouldn't put it past someone to actually make a post like that :P
@CanadianLuke We actually are expecting only up to 8 inches. But it is very wet and it's sticking, plus it's the first snow of the year, so we expect slippery conditions :P
@allquixotic I have three options: VNC, NX, or X forwarding over ssh. I fear the performance I would see over a cell network. Even LTE. :P
(besides, I'm close to my 2GB data cap and don't want to push it over this month. Also, I'm rural so cell connection isn't necessarily stable even in the best conditions, depending on what part of the house you're in)
Used to be worse. Can't complain. But it's not necessarily good either.
I interviewed for this one a few years ago but didn't get it. Apparently not for lack of skills, but b/c the boss said I didn't seem too enthusiastic. I wonder if that's a general problem for me.
Can anyone teach me the basics of Cobol Programming. I'm a 2nd college student and it's one of my majors. I'm having trouble understanding it. Can someone please help me? ^_^
