@Moshe well I opened the file in a hex editor and stared at the bytes for an afternoon. No I have a tool that reads and writes those files. No idea what that's usually called.

Argh... HTC Titan or Nokia Lumia 800 or wait longer?

The specifications / reviews don't really give out a big winner and it comes down to details on both.

If it depends on availability, only HTC Titan is available here at the moment.

But that might be because the Nokia Lumia 800 hasn't released here yet as far as I know, it does however seem to be available in the UK...

And I let him know that it's actually WP content, and he's in violation of their licensing terms, as there's no attribution to WP in his post.

And they'd answer "No, it's not, it's from QuestionHub, and I attributed it to them"

@studiohack The difference between stealing and this is, that they probably didn't do anything wrong until you told them. Once they were told they don't attribute the original author, it becomes a clear violation.

But it'd probably be a fruitful business to hide on some Pacific island and republish everything imaginable under a more permissive license not requiring attribution. For a fee, of course.

My suggestion is you either explain the situation with some more authority than some random dude on the web (i.e. me), that yes, it is Wikipedia's content (maybe after discussing in diamond chat), or edit in the attribution yourself.

Can't believe that situation hasn't come up so far. Maybe the team or SO moderators know something about it?

@DanielBeck How much extra would you have to pay? (You're in Germany, correct?)

@iglvzx Germany, right. It's 19% VAT but I get that back as a business (or rather, I pay less of the VAT I temporarily got the tax authority through my invoices).

But if I buy something for my business I don't pay income tax for it. If it's more than 1000€ though I have to split it over the time I use it.

So If I buy a 900€ computer today, I don't pay income tax for the entire 900€ this year.

If I buy the aforementioned iMac today, at around 3600€, this will be divided up into estimated 36 months of use, so I only get to save income tax for 100€ this year.

1200€ next year, etc.

@iglvzx That was as much for you as it was for me. Took me almost a week of deciding on the specs and where to have it upgraded without losing the warranty until I remembered that I don't get a nice tax reduction this year by buying it.

So, 3600 euros includes the upgrades? Over here, the newest, highest end iMac is $1999 or about 1500 euros

@iglvzx It's 1900€ incl. VAT here. +100€ 2GB VRAM, +200€ 3.4GHz, +200€ 16GB RAM, +700 (!!)€ SSD+2GB HDD, +180€ or so extended warranty...

Q: Can´t see PNG previews in Windows 7?

I´m using Windows 7 x64. I can see the .jpg, .gif, etc. preview thumbnails but if .PNG, I only see the generic image, and not the image preview like in the other formats. What can I do to fix this?

There is one compiler that drives me nuts

I am guessing some keyboards or input methods automatically convert apostrophes ' to their left and right counterparts.

I think it's the headless PDE build (Eclipse). There is this one error message, that, for emphasis presumably, i s t y p e d l i k e t h i s. Combine with the Windows cmd.exe and it's totally unreadable.

Plus, it contains a file name. Good luck copy&pasting!
