Even if the ISP does, it is against the law and would be thrown out in court.
It's the same concept where the police can't walk into your house, even if your door is wide open.

The ISP can. I don't think they need a warrant, unless they can get warrants at short notice at any hour of the day, because I had to call in something to 911 once and they were able to match an IP address to a physical location within an hour, and it was late at night.

The police had to request it from the ISP but I don't think it's a warrant-needed thing, but that's just a guess.

@surfasb You could always configure Outlook to match emails that are of that sort and filter them into a dedicated folder that you can then ignore except maybe once a week when you delete everything. :P

Q: How do I elevate permissions from within a batch script in Windows 7 or 2008?

AndreyI'm writing a batch script that requires administrator permissions to execute, so to start it I need to right-click and select "Run as Administrator". Is there a way to elevate permissions form within the script instead, like "su" in *nix?

The dup that is linked isn't the correct answer.
The dup that is linked has runas as the answer. Runas does not elevate commands in a batchfile if UAC is enabled.

@AmithKK Yeah, there were some books and a CD somewhere. I took it, installed it and started having fun with it back then... :)
I wrote a back-up application in it a long time ago where you give a source path and destination path and it copies everything in a new folder with the current date and time. I think it got saved to make it easier than manually going to copy / paste.
Useful back then if you didn't know about anything else.
Now I would use a one-liner at a CLI to do the same... o_O
On the other hand, calling the beep() and trying to replicate songs that were popular to kids back these days was another thing I did, as well as try to make some patterns with it.
But these days the PC speaker is not supported anymore, so at one or another day I removed that. I don't think that any VB6 stuff survived my computer history.

I think i just burst my last brain cell. I just realised that 64bit programs are in system 32, which wouldnt be so bad, if i had not tried to read this msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa384187(v=vs.85).aspx
So just to clear things up :-) the 32bit programs are in WOW64, WOW has always meant backwards compatability, the 64bit programs are in 32, and 86 means 32 but 64 means 64

Halp... I have a Windows process that won't terminate.
Neither Task Manager nor Process Explorer can kill it.
Each reports "Access Denied"... even when run as an administrator.
(The program in question is BitPIM - nothing malicious.)
