Yeh well that image is not rude or abusive, or NSFW, in any shape or form. Honestly if otherwise OK posts are being deleted via SmokeDetector for having an image like that then there is something seriously wrong with the system. That image shouldn't have been in the post, sure, but it should have been edited out and locked at worst; the whole post being nuked by SmokeDetector for it is in itself abusive IMO. — Cai 19 mins ago

oh, this'll be fun

Oh, was about to comment, but you two did already

Thanks @Art

np
aye, but I'd rather claim system admin and therefore system knowledge first before I have to resort to "yeah, have diamond, know things"
@QPaysTaxes no, but Cai was claiming that Smokey nuked the post automatically and therefore was badly designed. As the system designer, I have something to say about that :)
shrug
My concern was first to defend Smokey from misconceptions. If he cares to argue further about the post's appropriateness, I'll pull the diamond card.

Sometimes you mis-communicate without the chance to fix it. If they aren't listening, commenting won't help

5:12 PM
I wonder if we could get a feed bot posting new pull requests in here

Could, I guess. Should we?

@quartata GitHub has pull-request feeds; feeds can be fed into chatrooms. That’s easy to install.

Do they have RSS feeds for it though?
I thought it was just the webhook

@quartata Atom, but that works as well.

5:25 PM
Wait those are commits

@quartata dangit. I hate it when feeds are linked to a page where you would expect another feed.
Are commits okay too, or shall I remove the feed again?

Nah, commits will be too high-volume

Wrzlprmft has stopped a feed from being posted into this room

Might be easier to use metasmoke to feed us pull requests

that was a strange thing to see in the sidebar.

5:37 PM
Wow, Flake seems to like me. I hope I didn't sacrifice my first-born child without realizing it or anything.

probably

6:19 PM
Is there a polite way for me to grab the entire metasmoke history of posts short of scraping metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/posts and all the links? Also, the older posts (e.g. the last pages) on MS aren't really accessible, guess db stuff changed over time, is there a way to get those posts as well (specifically site + post id on that site or site + original post text)?

@JasonC In theory, the API will give you the lot, but there's something like 600 pages of that, which is probably 10 hours of requests. In practice, I can ping you a not-quite-current-but-still-pretty-good copy of the metasmoke database.

Oh sweet, if you don't mind, that'd be awesome.

Yeah, no problem. Where d'ye want it sent?

@ArtOfCode spam.shaped.hole@gmail.com works (not my usual email, but paranoia keeps me from posting it in transcripts).

cool, I'll get it to you in a few :)

6:25 PM
Thanks!
Heh, that gmail account averages 1 spam every 7 minutes. Woohoo, technology.

@JasonC Wow, so how many?

I use it exclusively for those sites that inexplicably require you to sign up even though their service could easily be provided anonymously.
Where "inexplicably" is actually "lead gen".
"Register to read this article", "register to search this forum", etc.

yeah, some routes are more heavily throttled

@rene That must've been it. Seems happy now.
38 hours remaining.
Oh, nope. Same deal. Maybe it's not a rate limiting thing.

Q: Obtaining text of spam/offensive posts

Jason CIs there any way for normal people to grab a list of all posts on a site deleted as spam/offensive (presuming I have privileges to view them)? All routes I've explored are dead ends: Archive.org data dump: Does not include deleted posts. SEDE: Drops body text from deleted spam/offensive posts....

@rene Like 30 I think.
That was weird why did that post show up here

it is tagged as spam

@JasonC what is it about our database that doesn't fit your needs?

8:53 PM
fp- by Yvette on Ubuntu user permissions [MS]

@angussidney I don't know how to access it. @ArtOfCode gave me a dump earlier but the dump messed up the character encoding and ended up with lots of literal ?s. I didn't see a reason to take up more of anybody's time there. Also I'm not sure how far back the MS database goes.

@JasonC about 2 years
I can also get you an MS API key, if that helps
