9:29 PM
@QPaysTaxes I would've liked that exact feature
being able to report without worrying about imporper feedback

@QPaysTaxes I can't, no. I can, however, strip them of their privileges.
@AndrasDeak what feature?

being able to report+ask smokey to delete reports, but not being able to give feedback on posts

@QPaysTaxes yeah, anyone with GH team membership can do that. Technically.

@ArtOfCode Only if undo pulls after their commits

@AndrasDeak so a limited set of privileges just for reports and sd del?

9:33 PM
I recently got access to NATO on SO, and I might run into crispy-fresh spam/abusive posts
@ArtOfCode yup:)
and I'd have asked Smokey to test some websites for me, but I wouldn't have been able to make him delete afterwards

@QPaysTaxes Got a little confused, thought we were talking about mtasmoke, not smokey

@Ferrybig nah, Smokey privs. Just needs a pull command here, which literally any privileged user can run.

so I didn't ask him, lest I keep the link in the SOCVR transcript

@AndrasDeak NATO?

sorry, new answers to old questions 10k tool:)

9:34 PM
Oh that. So why do we need mini-privs?

what do you mean?

What's the correlation between your newfound NATO access, and needing a stripped down privilege set for Smokey?

Directly, nothing:D OK, let me explain as clearly as I can.

My brain is addled right now, so that sounds like a good plan :)

I've been listening to smokey reports for a while in SOCVR, I even subscribed to his reports a while ago. I happily don't give feedback, as I see that I'd often miss.
But recently I reached 10k and got access to the NATO tool. There there's a nonzero probability of me seeing spam/abusive garbage for the first time. At times like this it would be nice if I could report. But for this I need privileges. But with privileges comes feedback, which I'd like to avoid on the Smokey side if possible:)
I trust Smokey's ignoring more than my own ignorance.
@QPaysTaxes it's not just clutter: testing for a possible spam site and leaving it in the transcript kinda beats the purpose

9:39 PM
@AndrasDeak oh, are you not privileged at all?

I don't want to leave any hints of these in any transcript
@ArtOfCode indeed:)
and this was cool as long as I didn't see any reportable posts anyway

Ah, there's my confusion. I thought you were privileged, so this new set would have been a downgrade.

@QPaysTaxes there are sometimes offensive stuff too
@ArtOfCode yes, it would:) Sorry for the confusion

No worries

> Offensive body detected, offensive title detected
----------
Title - Offensive keyword: fuck you
Title - Position 1-5: fuck
Post - Offensive keyword: fuck you

9:41 PM
@QPaysTaxes how dare you bans

And leave that in SOCVR? Yeah, that won't fly.

[ SmokeDetector ] Offensive body detected: FATAL ERROR DETECTED by user6569764 on stackoverflow.com

@QPaysTaxes touché

1 CV on it already..bah

@AndrasDeak You mean deleted already?

9:42 PM
@Ferrybig Yes, with 1 close vote...

Honestly, from what I know on Smokey code, implementing different privilege levels would be a nightmare. It might be easier just to give you full privileges, and you can simply avoid feeding back.

Offensive garbage should be flagged, not CVd. Assuming of course, that the voter didn't flag.
@ArtOfCode sure:) Or maybe put me on that ignore list:P
but as I said, this is not of high priority, I'm happy with the status quo too. I'm just investigating my options.
thanks for feedback:)

I also voted to close first because it was obviously too broad and without error, afterward I wanted to double read the post to see if it was really abusive, but it was deleted too quickly

@Ferrybig it was

@AndrasDeak Undo could make you an ignore entry, but I designed the system so well that it would do a grand total of diddly squat.

9:44 PM
it was apparently about brainfuck, but the last sentence was something along the lines of "answer me bitches"
@ArtOfCode haha, great:D

FYI, updating metasmoke to Rails 5 release.

@Undo oh, they released it? Sweet

I'll just determine then whether I want privileges or not:) Thanks

@ArtOfCode Yeah

@AndrasDeak no worries

9:45 PM
Apparently it was June 30th, but I never noticed

9 days behind the edge...I think that's acceptable;)

@Undo since I don't know Smokey code too well: how much of a nightmare would it be to implement different privilege levels?

@ArtOfCode um
Depends on a lot of things :P

@ArtOfCode Noooo don't do that

Like what exactly one would want to do

9:46 PM
Read up :P

I've already asked Undo a few days ago

Heh

his answer was "probably not possible" before going afk:)

I would've been absent for that :)

I mean, I asked if it was possible as it is to get only reporting privs
and I wouldn't have brought it up at all if it wasn't for those meddling kids QPays talking about a very similar thing:)
I was perfectly content with Undo's answer

9:50 PM
Seriously, though, I'm more than happy to give you privs even if you don't use the feedback thing

Thanks, I appreciate it:) I'll still think about it, and anyway I'd probably ask for it in SOCVR (for which I'd have to ask there, right?)
well, they can easily clean up after you if you mess up:P

@AndrasDeak Don't really need to as far as I'm concerned
CHQ historically has higher standards for people than SOCVR does, so I don't have an issue managing SOCVR's list myself.

Ah, awesome, thanks:) Then I'll just bug you if I decide to go with it.
@Undo heh:D
and yet you gave @QPaysTaxes privileges

CHQ and SOCVR focus on different points when deciding who to give privileges

The decider for giving people privs is more often than not "do we think you're sane"
I've seen Q around and he's mostly sane, so privs are fine :)

9:55 PM
slim pickings... ;)

I also doubt that anyone in here would have a problem speaking up to veto a privs request. And hey, if someone would have that problem, most people also have my email address :)

I'm not really worried about privileges from the side of the community, I'm concerned about my own perspective:D But not too much, we've already spent way more time on this than necessary:) Thanks guys for all the input.

Metasmoke now running on Rails 5.0.0. cc @ArtOfCode b/c you might want to update your gems.
Somehow it feels faster. Probably Turbolinks
Although I broke the (needs admin) thing. Should fix that.

@Undo yet another thing to add to the rapidly lengthening list of things to do when I'm back at a proper workstation...

API quota rolled over with 4592 requests remaining. Current quota: 9999.

Rails 5 update broke metasmoke login

@Undo FYI @rene usually wants a chance to weigh in as if stuff starts going wrong the room owners will probably be blamed. Unlikely that rene would disagree with Andras getting privileges though. :)

:) Anyway I've been thinking and I'll just probably use the privileges here, when I decide.
I'm mostly in SOCVR for a few people, not for the moderation activities. And for spam, charcoal is the right place.

@Undo Fixed

Like, PNGWriter would have been great, but it depends on libpng -- which actually was fine, except that it depends on zlib, which doesn't work on Windows 10.
FYI @QPaysTaxes libpng works on Windows 10, not sure how... I've compiled it as part of Chromium on Win 10
Eh I prefer to not clutter up SOCVR. :P
It depends on zlib, perhaps the Chromium version has some Windows modifications? cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/third_party/zlib

11:36 PM
@ArtOfCode that looks really awesome, but can it support POST reqs?
if it can, a userscript with little buttons on the SD posts for feedback would be easy peasy :)

@Quill one of those exists already, but it doesn't use the API

hmm?

it cannibalises metasmoke native functionality
As in, it hits a route that was originally designed for metasmoke internals only

oh, fair enough

The current API routes are all reads, no writes, so they're all GET. But yeah, if we add write support it'll be POSTs.

11:40 PM
or maybe PUTs
Still trying to figure out what to do with my free 1yr domain registration from Google
Have until July 31
I'm tempted to go register metasmoke.org
Although I'm not sure I want to pay $12/year on it forever

$12 is a small price to pay for the freedom of SE

11:57 PM
It's a shame there isn't a free domain scheme for organisations
