Q: Document tracking ms-excel facing problems?

user316389I want to do which is so 90s at least ; this is the view if I google it. I want to add www.sometrack.com/blah.gif In excel I'm using this option: goto insert a picture option -> select all files -> filename(http://sometrack.com/blah.gif) I open the excel on my computer I get nothing, I ...

@Saladin What about it?
Hm, I see, it doesn't really make a lot of sense.

I asked a question, got a good answer that included a recommendation to improve a particular regex pattern involved, constructed an improved regex, and added the improved pattern, with an explanation thereof, to the answer, which I also accepted and upvoted. (I also made it quite clear which part of the answer, post-edit, was mine.) However, my edit was rejected: superuser.com/review/suggested-edits/222755
I'm pretty sure my edit is valid, though, for the following reasons:

@KyleStrand Unfortunately, it needs to be its own answer. When you edit someone's answer, it's to improve formatting, readability, or correct obvious errors.
If you found a better form, you need to post as a new answer

Did you look at the original answer and at my edit?

I'm looking JUST at the actual edit you linked to, one moment

The core part of the answer, and the credit for demonstrating it, belongs to Ingo Karkat.

Then I would create a new answer, and start off saying "I found this out with help from [username's answer](link to answer). This is what I ended up doing, which worked for me: <solution>"
We just like seeing one answer, per answer
If that makes sense

I do do that on occasion, but I don't think I changed the core part of the answer, which is the trick of using c_CTRL-\_e with getcmdline() =~#.
The regex Ingo Karkat included in the original answer was essentially a simplistic "placeholder" for a more robust pattern to match any :s command, and the answer even stated that the regex should be improved. I wrote one possible implementation, which I thought should be included with the rest of the answer.

Still, it appears to change it too much from the original answer, so we'd like seeing it as a separate post altogether

By "appears" do you mean that it is your opinion that it really is too much of a change, or do you mean that the review literally looks too extensive?

It's enough new information that it deserves to be its own

Mkay. Done.

Remember, as the OP, you only mark the answer of what worked for you

11:28 PM
Meaning that I'd mark my own answer in a couple days, right? I know--that's part of why I was reluctant to make the switch.

It's dependent on when your question was asked. 2 days after the question, you can accept your own answer

Oh well, Ingo Karkat has plenty of rep, I guess. Not to mention that I probably accept his answers more often than anyone else's since he's often so quick to solve my Vim needs.
Hm, looks like there's a similar case where my edit was accepted: superuser.com/posts/714587/revisions
Should that have also been its own answer?
