12:18 AM
So I will make two lists here. This first one is a list of terms or people that I think need a bit of explanation. The second will be things that in my opinion should just be translated in the question.
List 1:

Esther
Mordechai
Ahauserus
Gemarah
Megillah (tractate)
Harvona
Hegai
Malbim
Vashti
Amalek
Deuteronomy
Elijah
Maharil
Hagaos Maimonious
Chida
Gra
Torah tmima
Rashi
Meam Loes
Midrash Rabah
Adar
Shushan Purim
Purim?
Jebusite
King David
Joshua
Judah
Radak
Judges
Benjamin
Hannukah
The Mordechai (rishon)
Bach
Rama
Tractate pesachim
Beit yosef
Rav hai gaon
Kol Bo
Elya Zuta
Orach Chaim
Mishloach Manos
Ksav Sofer
Matanot leevyonim
Nitei Gavriel
Yad Aharon
Chug Eretz
Ezekiel
List 2(some of these may already be translated):

Yezer harah
Yezer tov
Sof nidasa
Menora
Tzedakah
Aveil
ADD TO LIST 1: bigthan, teresh
@monicacellio @isaacmoses @hodofhod if you notice anything I should add, or subtract, (like king david or ezekiel or deuteronomy, wasn't sure of the expected affiliation level), please advise. I will start on this list when I have time, probably motzei shabbos, but perhaps tomorrow, depending on how much math homework I can finish.

1:24 AM
@BabySeal thanks! That's very comprehensive. I would suggest prioritizing the Purim-specific and less-obvious ones as you work, and if you run out of time before getting to Deuteronomy or King David then no worries.

@BabySeal If you'd like help (we certainly don't want this to interfere with your schoolwork), you could add the list to the meta post and invite people to help with definitions. The post is community wiki so everybody can edit.

1 hour later…
2:38 AM
@Isaac, intro edited. Sorry it took until this evening. See comment there.

2:53 AM
@Monica Thanks! I'll take a closer look a little later.
@BabySeal, for the ones that you think should just be translated in place, could you possibly just go in and make the edits? When writing up the glossary, you needn't worry about alphabatizing, as I'm pretty sure Word'll just do that for me.

3:24 AM
@IsaacMoses that's a good point -- especially for terms that are only used once across the set of questions (some look like that might be the case, but I haven't done the search), an in-place or parenthetical translation serves the reader better than making him go to a glossary anyway.

3:52 AM
@BabySeal also - Thanks!

5:36 AM
Sections 0 and 1 typeset. Taking a break to do other stuff ...
Oddly, Hebrew hasn't yet been a problem, B"H.

2 hours later…
7:20 AM
Section 2 typeset. Time for another task-switch

Alright, I think we've got a 90% first draft: PDF Word
2
Known deficiencies:
- Glossary is not complete
- Widow/orphan adjustments needed
- Some formatting niceties
- There may be room for one more page of content
Anyone who wants to help proofread, please post proofreading notes, including page numbers, in this room.
According to the rough schedule, this draft was to be due this coming Sunday, and proofreading of it due this coming Tuesday. As this draft is ahead of schedule, it'd be great if the first round of proofreading could be complete ahead of schedule, as well. Can we try for end of Sunday?
I will ask my mother.
Could a mod please superping TRiG?
T Z T!

@trig see notes from Isaac. We're ready for your mad proofreading skillz!

@MonicaCellio Thanks
Note that beyond mere "proofreading," suggestions for improving the actual content, the formatting, the question order, my questionable title choices, etc., are all welcome

@IsaacMoses thanks for your work on this! I may not have time tonight, but I intend to do a pass in time for end of Sunday.

@MonicaCellio Thanks for yours! Sounds good.

3:29 PM
@MonicaCellio Hi. Shall have a look this evening.

@IsaacMoses These notes are on the Google Docs version of the PDF. Page3, col 1, line 2, two hyphens should be a dash. Usual is en dash with spaces around or em dash without. Some people use em dash with spaces, I think. Whatever, just be consistent throughout the document. I'm not gonna point out future instances of hyphens for dashes or inconsistent dashes or spacing around them in this version. (Unless you want me to.) (But this is also relevant in the title "Purim - Mi Yodeya" itself.)
Page 3, col1, in the Question: you use straight apostrophes. That's great for the 'Net but the usual in print things is typographic apostrophes, and I really think it looks better. (Actually, I'm surprised Word didn't convert them.) Again, I'm not gonna keep pointing this out in this version unless you want me to.

@IsaacMoses ... and the document already contains a thanks to me for proofreading ...
!

@TRiG @IsaacMoses is a prophet.
@TRiG And thank you for helping with this!
Page 4, bottom, copr. notice: perhaps instead of "user contributions licensed...", use "user contributions © 2010[en dash]2014, licensed...".

3:49 PM
@msh210 Thanks! I can probably fix both of these issues using global find/replace, so no need to enumerate all instances.

@IsaacMoses Yeah, I figured.

@msh210 I copied that text verbatim from the bottom of Mi Yodeya, so unless you express a strong need to change it, I'm inclined to keep it as-is (except for formatting)

@IsaacMoses Very well.

I'm going to star suggestions that I've already actioned/resolved.
@TRiG Thanks ... in advance! ;^)
@msh210 In the traditional Tanach sense of "motivator," yes, that's what I've done in this case.

4:06 PM
@IsaacMoses oh good, I was just about to ask how we should track this (star could be either for "needs action" or "done"; thanks for picking one).

4:21 PM
@MonicaCellio I was thinking the "needs action" path, too, but it seems that a few minutes after I star, I can't unstar

@IsaacMoses oh right, stars get locked after a while (except for mods, which is why I forgot). No worries; you're doing the editing work so the rest of us will do whichever makes your job easier.
Everybody: don't star proofreading comments for attention.

@MonicaCellio Thanks!

@IsaacMoses Am I right in thinking that the links here will always be the latest versions at any given time?

@TRiG I don't intend to put out another version until after I get as many inputs from you and from my mother on the current version as you care to produce. If @MonicaCellio would be so kind as to pin this message, we'll have a handy link to the current version on the sidebar, which can be replaced when a new version comes out.

@msh210 @MonicaCellio @IsaacMoses meta.judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/1931/…

@BabySeal Y"K

5:56 PM
@IsaacMoses pinned.
@BabySeal thank you!

6:10 PM
@MonicaCellio Thanks

4 hours later…
10:00 PM
BabySeal, based on the amount of content you and @msh210 have already generated here, it looks like it'll take up 2 - 3 pages. If possible, I'd prefer to squeeze it to 2, so I may end up reducing a word here or there where a word can save a whole line. Also, I may come back to you to ask about reducing the number of entries. — Isaac Moses 49 secs ago
... some of which we could probably accomplish with inline definitions, especially for terms that appear only once.

10:40 PM
@IsaacMoses Aaaaand it's beginning to look like I won't get to this tonight.
And tomorrow I'm doing CoderDojo (teaching kids how to build websites).
Sorry.

@TRiG No big deal. Do you think you'll be able to help within the next few days?
@TRiG Cool, BTW

11:01 PM
@MonicaCellio @IsaacMoses can still tell which he starred (gold vs. black).

11:24 PM
@IsaacMoses Probably. I hope.
