@BMitch The two questions are asking about bonding different things. While the same tables may apply, the questions are slightly different (in my opinion).

Q: How do I know what size grounding conductor is required?

miguelao75Is there an international standard that specifies the size of the grounding conductor to bond a metallic part of the installation to a grounding bar?. And to connect the grounding bar to the grounding rod?.

Asks about bonding the enclosure, and connecting the panel to the grounding electrode system.

Q: What size conductor do I need to bond water and gas piping?

user39594What is minimum size ground do I need for a 200 amp panel? I need to bond the hot and cold in the water heater and already have a ground rod in the ground. I also need to bond the water and gas.

Asks about bonding piping systems within a building, where the plumbing may not be part of the grounding electrode system.

@Tester101 mentally I'm considering the question if it was a different topic, e.g. "how large of a joist do you need when it's resting on a concrete foundation wall?" and "how large of a joist do you need when it's resting on a timber framed wall?" the answer would be the same since it's based on the load from above, not the support it's resting on.
So back to electrical, for me to vote to open it, I'm looking for what the bonding target is to have an impact on the answer given.
That said, if someone else voted to open it, I wouldn't undo their change, there's a lot of other dups on the site that need cleaning, and electrical isn't my specialty, at least not compared to the knowledge of others here.

@BMitch I think it's a bit different than your example. But I do agree that I'm not sure if it's different enough to reopen.

@Tester101 I thought the electrical questions were different, too, until I saw the answers. That's when I started to second guess myself and look for more information.
