@BESW I disagree. Alignment tells you how you choose to treat your enemies and what tactics you're willing to employ.

@MC_Hambone Did you see my Wall O' Text?
Cliff's Notes version: don't plan cool futures, create an awesome present which can't help but become cool futures when the players poke it with a stick.
Do this by creating tension points that can't stay the way they are (rivalries, resource limitations, natural events, rampaging demons), and by including the kinds of feature you want to see included in the fallout (dirigibles, half-orc werecrocodiles, powerful artifacts).
(I may never use half-orc werecrocodiles again, but I will never be bored by the concept.)

@BESW - Did that cur honestly freakin'...
There is no end to my rage

Q: "Rude or offensive:" how does the nature of the offense and its visibility influence flag responses?

BESWThis is about our behavior policy and how it relates to flagging offensive comments (and posts, I suppose). Is it a violation of the behavior policy to insult another citizen, or to equate their actions on the site with serious offenses such as violent hate crimes? In particular, should a "rude...

Yes you do

No, I don't. I have no idea why you're bringing up a months-old issue that's been well put to bed.

I saw it on the front page

You did notice that everything on the front page is edited by "Community," and it's all jumbled up because of the MSO/MSE changes?

@BESW Noooooo I did not

Maybe put a few more points into Perception (context).

I'm working on maxing out my Craft (Outraged Remark) score

Ah, I understand; you're getting the lack-of-synergy bonus to Craft (outraged remark) for not having any ranks in Perception (context).

Q: Is it true that vampires used to crave garlic but a spell was cast on vampires to make garlic their downfall?

Mack BuckAbout a year or so ago, my friend and I were watching the TV show Merlin together and my friend brought up an interesting point. He said that vampires used to crave garlic, however, Merlin cast a spell on vampires to make garlic repel them. Is this true?

They're almost always vampire questions, too.

@JonathanHobbs [wave]

Hi!
@BESW Oh wow. Since the question's deleted, I am very pleased the entire thing got oneboxed.

@Lord_Gareth Gonna ask this in IRC.

That is an incredible questoin. I am bemused and befuddled as to what thought process would lead to someone asking that question.
I'm gonna leave that typo there because I like the way I'm pronouncing it in my head.

@JonathanHobbs Questoin is a rejected name for one of the dwarves in The Hobbit.
@JonathanHobbs I think it was probably some misconception that vampire depictions are homogenous.
We run into that a lot on sf.se, but this is particularly egregious and stacked with a few other weirdnesses.

@BESW Yeah, I suppose it'd be that, but that takes some uncanny arrangement of exposure to vampire literature.

Possibly "none."

Oh yeah, that'd do it.

7:51 AM
So, I was hoping to talk about one of my recent questions:
http://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/36043/how-does-the-multi-weapon-fighting-feat-replace-the-two-weapon-fighting-feat
Most people seem to be of the opinion that option 2 is correct
However, no one has really addressed my main issue, which is the potential balance concerns that presents
Kryan stated that it was too expensive, of course, but never really expanded on that, so I'm forced to assume he was speaking monetarily in-game. Going under that assumption, I'm forced to outright call him wrong.

I am sorry, but there is no mention of cost in Kryan's answer.
And most people agree option 1 is correct.

In comments he made previously in response to the only answer that addressed balance concerns, he said that the cost offset it
I believe those comments have since been deleted
I originally meant option 1, that was my mistake

So - what is your concern here?
What do you want to expand into? What part of the answer do you want clarification on? What is still bothering you that you aren't happy yet?

The issue with balance within the game
If multiweapon fighting works as option 1 would allow it to, it simply becomes Better than two weapon fighting
Which makes it over powered within the context of the game
I'd like to know why some people think that that's not the case

What makes it over powered?
You state that as a fact, but you have no substance behind that reasoning.

8:07 AM
Well, without going into specific numbers, the main thing is that it allows a very large number of additional attacks each turn, at no penalties other than would be placed upon standard TWF. In addition, if option 1 holds true, all the options in the game that mitigate TWF's penalties would Also apply in equal parts to MWF

Okay, but if you are a creature with 10 hands, why shouldn't you attack with all of them at the same turn?

Going under the assumption that additional attacks at no penalty can only ever be a net gain, that would imply that it is Always better to use MWF over TWF

The balance of this damage potential is handled by the ECL of monster-type races. And any magical effects that grant additional arms are expensive.

Except it's not
There are, so far as I can see, two ways to get additional arms at a fairly low price

Please highlight them for me.

8:10 AM
Aside: "Cost" may be referring to the rarity of feat slots and the difficulty of changing one's feat choices, making feats one of the most "expensive" features of the game.

The first is to be the new Kasatha race, presented in bestiary 4, which just Has four arms, at no negative, especially since the race's stats and abilities lend themselves well to the build

That is another part of this - you are spending feats to take MWP, and you are spending in-game time/money/energy to obtain weapons to use, and also extra arms (unless you are a monster-type - in which case it costs you ECL)

And the second is to apply them either to your Eidolon as a summoner, of if you're the right archetype of summoner, to add them to yourself with your 'outsider armor'

The "balance" comes from the fact that another character with the same level, time, money, energy, resources potential as you could go in another direction and make an equally powerful build.

Except, when I run the numbers, it doesn't work

8:12 AM
Is a level 10 fighter better than a level 10 rogue?

Assuming your using the Kasatha race, and option 1 is correct, there is no negative, feat-wise, to being a MWF over a TWF, because it makes them the same
Going by gold, literally 2 gold will allow you the benefit of having the two extra arms, as the additional damage even basic daggers yield once introduced to the standardized build for TWF as just extra attacks makes it better than being a TWF
Even at first level, when gold is sparse, two gold is nothing

Is a level 10 fighter better than a level 10 rogue?

Now that I've said why MWF is just Better than TWF, let me continue:
Assuming that all builds, once maximized for combat, are by-design approximately equally effective within combat, then if there is something that is just Better than one of those builds, it would stand to reason it is just Better than all other builds
@Inbar within combat, it depends. Both can, potentially, be very effective, if maximized towards that goal. However, in both cases, having 4 arms is just better than having 2

@Zach You are correct, MWF is better than TWF. But that doesn't make it unbalanced. A creature with more arms is better than a creature with less arms. Just like a creature who has SR is better than a creature with no SR when defending against magic. There are lots of factors here. The balance does not come only in relation to TWF. Of course MWF is better - but that doesn't make it unbalanced or overpowered in the game mechanics terms. It just makes TWF more robust by being able to...
...apply to more than two hands.

Except it Doesn't
if option 1 holds true, there is, literally, Nothing that TWF has that MWF can't also get, and just be better at

8:21 AM
Yes.
Why do you think this makes it unbalanced?

So, there is Never a situation in which being a MWF isn't just Better than being a TWF

Correct.
What is your point?

Going under the assumption that TWF is a standardized build, one which the game's mechanics are made around, and that all other standardized builds are, by-design, approximately equal to it (excluding MWF, because it's Not standardized) within the context of combat
that would mean that MWF builds are just better than All standardized builds
And, by extension, better than the game's mechanics were designed to challenge
Meaning that using the build within a game where everyone is maximizing their characters for combat is the only option, because it's the best one, and there's no point in taking anything else, because it won't be as good

@Zach Listen. MWF is better than TWF. This is a given. But that doesn't make it unbalanced, or overpowered. First of all - simply look at the requirements of the feat itself - you need to have more than two hands. So already the feat itself has a higher cost than TWF. Now lets look at the cost of having more than two hands. Either a monstrous race (pay with ECL) or magic (more expensive than two hands) So already it is more costly than TWF - even if only marginally.
Secondly.... Characters who choose to go fully combat builds with multiple hands and taking MWF are not taking other things instead.

But it's Not
I've already said, there's no penalty for being a Kasatha
Which Has 4 arms

8:27 AM
No penalty where?
Are you forgetting this is a Role playing game?

Don't try using DM fiat as the basis of arguement

It's not a "build the best mechanical damage dealing character"

That applies equally to All builds

Let's make a simple experiment.

Again, not applicable. Being a maximized TWF is equally as harmful to other aspects of the game as being the same character with MWF. The only difference is that the second is better at combat
With no penalty for it

8:29 AM
A character who is fully built at level 50 (whatever) with all the two weapon fighting feats he wants, and no shortage of any money whatsoever.
Now - the same character with MWF ... what does he need for this?
First - he needs more hands.
If he is a kasatha (as you say) it has no ECL.
So far so good.
Now, with only this change. changing only the race, and TWF to MWF ... is it better?

Yes

Okay, please tell me in what way
Making only that change.

Well, for one, you said he had as much money as he needed

Well
I said ONLY changing TWF to MWF and his race.

Even if he's just wielding his back-up weapons in the extra two hands, then

8:32 AM
He has no problem to purchase more weapons for his new arms - but he still has to do that. Without purchasing these weapons is there an advantage?

Are you asking if I take a character who has a privilege over another, but is basically otherwise the same, then deny him that privilege via denying him what he needs to use it, will he be the same? Well, obviously
1+1=2+(1-1)
However, assuming that he can actually Use his additional arms, even with basic weaponry, he'd still just be Better

You are forgetting something.

Which would be?

This Kasatha race, has different racial benefits to other races. For one - when compared to a human for instance, it has less feats.

It has 1 less feat. It also has darkvision, treats perception and stealth as class skills no matter what, has a bonus to both Dex, and Wis (a TWF human would only have an equal Dex bonus, if built right) has benefits when moving in specific terrain types, and is always counted as running when it jumps
The last one is a class feature you'd have to take monk levels to get
Like I said, in addition to having 4 arms, the race itself is geared towards being a good race for a TWF build
Giving it two extra arms just ensures it will be the best
Oh, I almost forgot
A free +2 bonus to its AC that stacks with all other kinds of bonuses

8:41 AM
Look, if you want to bring optimization into this - then as I said earlier - another player with the same character creation potential could create a character with a completely different type of damage dealing optimization that could rival or be better than this MWF optimization.

Except, he can't
I've ran the numbers
It doesn't work

I am agreeing with you that TWF is worse than MWF. But that doesn't make MWF unbalanced.
Much like a longsword is better than a shortsword. There is no denying that. But does that make the longsword unbalanced?

Fire and flames... If you want to prove something, provide example builds already.

The most maximized build you could originally go for, strictly speaking in terms of damage output, would realistically be a rogue/fighter multiclass, specializing in TWF... which is just Better if it's a MWF

Set out rules to work with, and then work within that framework.

8:43 AM
@Metool I've done that

So you are saying that someone optimizing a build for critical strikes and power attacks with two-handed weapons would not deal more damage than you?

Certeros Paribus, if MWF is just Better than TWF, then MWF is just better than Any Other build
I've tried that as well

And what about casters?
And what about other effects like tripping, grappling, ranged attacks, etc...

Maximizing the damage output of a crit. specialization , mounted combat Palidan, yields a max output of upwards around 600 damage in one hit

"in one hit" is never a way to judge D&D

8:46 AM
You can only get one hit a turn with that build

D&D uses goblin dice specifically for that reason.
A character is not measured by a single action, but how that character manages over time and many actions to survive, and deal damage in the most effective way.

At best, if a 20th level wizard with the appropriate build used optimized delayed blast fireballs on the largest number of enemies possible, all capable of taking the maximum damage and not able to make the save for half, then yes, I could see That out-damaging the build
But the main issue with that is that you'll almost never see an instance where that occurs

Look, clearly there is no way that you will listen to what I am trying to say here.

and if you want to talk about cost, That takes up more gold, spell slots, etc., then I care to calculate... only because I've done so before
I'm only being difficult because I want to play this race, and specifically this build, but can't because my DM is worried it will be overpowered
And I tend to agree with him, as I've yet to find an argument to appropriately counter his stance

@Zach My final word on the matter: I agree with you that MWF is better than TWF, there is no denying that. But MWF is not unbalanced or overpowered. And you have yet to explain how it is, so far you are only explaining how MWF is better than TWF - and that is something I have agreed with you on since the beginning.

8:51 AM
Okay, I'll take one last shot at explaining this
TWF is a standardized build. When the author of the book made it, it was an obvious build path, and one such they would have used as a basis of scale when calculating things such as level of difficulty when defeating monsters, etc.
Can you agree to that?

[unrelated] I wonder what the greatest total attack penalty you can willingly place upon yourself is.
Non-proficiency, size modifiers, weapon-size-difference modifiers, more than one weapon of a heavy weight class, what else?

The big one would be off-hand wielding without TWF feat
-10
Speaking in Pathfinder terms
So: A medium creature, using a large-sized light weapon (wielding as one-handed){-2} it's not proficient with {-4}, in its off-hand without TWF {-10}, while wielding a Tower Shield it's not proficient with in its main hand {-10}, in armor its not proficient with {-7}, while fighting defensively {-4}, with maximized Power Attack and Weapon Finesse penalties {-12}, for a total of... -45
Assuming strength 10, you'd be hitting at a -25, as your BAB would have to be 20 to take the full penalties from power attack and weapon finesse
Oh, sorry, bad math
-51, -31 to hit
@Metool Did that answer your question?

So, still a 5% chance of hitting!

Because of how Pathfinder works, yes
Unless they've got intervening cover, or are invisible, which could knock it down to 2.5%
Or they're incorporeal, and you've only got a non-magical weapon, which would make it 0%

So what happens if we say that instead of someone with full BAB and Power Attack, we've got someone with half BAB and hardly any training at all?
Say, a 1st-level Wizard?
(Because Power Attack, while it is a penalty, doesn't outstrip the BAB scaling.)

9:07 AM
Well, the penalty itself would go down
However, the effective negative would go up

Something like -15?

No, all others could still apply
The max negative would only go down by 11

I meant the difference between Wizard 1 and Fighter 20
Ah, I see.

A 1st level wizard could still take Combat Expertise, which would still be a -1 assuming he used it
Which is what I meant when I said Weapon Finesse earlier
The maximum penalty the wizard could inflict on himself would be -38, which is less than the -49 for the 20th level fighter
But would take the full negative

Non-Fighter. Barbarian?
(Fighter proficiencies, yay.)

9:13 AM
Well, assuming the fighter was using a light large-sized exotic weapon, profs still would apply

Armour and shields?

There are fighter archetypes that give up heavy armor and tower shield profs.
You'd basically be the world's dumbest gun-slinger

Oh, lord...

It's happened
Try being a 1st level gunslinger in a world without firearms

Semi-broken pistol or musket only?

9:16 AM
No, the gun worked fine
There wasn't anyone selling gunpowder

Ah, right, which is why you take the secret stash deed and find bullets in your pockets each night.

Still doesn't help with the no-boom thing
Plus, he was 1st level, and I'm pretty sure that's an upper level deed

> Benefit: Spend 1 grit point while in combat to recover either 1 bullet and 1 dose of black powder or 1 alchemical cartridge from a hidden stash on your person that you had, until now, forgotten about. If the bullet and black powder or the alchemical cartridges are normal shot, you do not need to pay for the ammunition.
> Prerequisite: Grit class feature or Amateur Gunslinger feat, Sleight of Hand 1 rank.

Ah, you meant a Grit Feat
I thought you were referring to the Dead class feature

Also provides a not-insignificant bonus to Sleight of Hand while gambling, for what that's worth.

9:20 AM
Though, assuming you're not being particularly awesome that day, that's still only 5 shots a day, which at best are taking a -3 at anything your allies are in melee with

Yup yup.

Not exactly my build of choice, but it's something

3 hours later…
12:05 PM
Good Morning

Heyo!

12:23 PM
Morning

hiya

So that's two shows I've seen in the past week with a two-headed dog, or dogs.

@Metool which ones?

Well, I suppose that Chaika just showed them in a preview for the next episode...
@waxeagle My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, where one such dog was part of a trade sequence, and Chaika - The Coffin Princess, where there will be many chasing a vehicle in the next episode.

[waves distractedly at @ThalesPereira]
@Metool Every now and then they throw in some hardcore Greek/Roman mythology stuff. It's weird.
(I mean, I guess pegasi sort of set the stage for it, but...)

12:35 PM
Woo, orthros/orthrus/orthodontist.

12:54 PM
Suddenly, the idea of an "Orthomancer" had come to mind.
A wizard with teeth based powers that have also favored enemy against cavities.
Too much sugar on my coffee. That's for sure.

Ugh, every time there's a discussion with Zach it makes me want to drink >.<

What happened?

@Zach - MWF has significant gold costs above and beyond TWF. Additionally, it does not resolve the myriad issues with TWF; those carry over straight into MWF with no correction whatsoever, not the least of which is Mobility Problems. Last, but certainly not least, it doesn't resolve the accuracy issues whatsoever.
@Zach - Inform your DM that it won't be a problem, since your choices are essentially to either invest in just two weapons that will ever do damage (b/c DR and suchlike) so you can keep up on your defenses, or invest in all 4 weapons and die constantly

Did you follow the conversation? - he is not really interested in that line of logic.

@InbarRose He's never really interested, I just figured I'd add another voice in case some unsuspecting innocent came along to the chat without knowing who he is.
@ThalesPereira I have no polite way of explaining this. Essentially, Zach and a group of other posters - hereafter defined as Anyone Who Has Ever Spoken To Him - have ongoing problems
His questions trend towards being worrying. His chat conversations are marked by asking for help, then adamantly refusing that help because it doesn't cleave to his narrow and extremely specific play style/worldview
Last time he wanted us to justify him telling his players how to play their characters.

1:03 PM
Hm... just to get things Right. Zach is a user named Zach? Or he uses some other nickname?

@ThalesPereira Yeah, that's his name. Scroll up on the transcript, you can see the latest disaster

I'm... not sure if I follow his rationale.

He says he made some builds, but didn't provide them or the rules they had to follow. [sigh]

I actually know that fighter build of the 600 points of damage, but it is rather hard to pull on the point on being impractical

Didn't he say Paladin? [forgets]

1:10 PM
Yes, he did, but by "fighter" I mean "Mellee based" attacker
It is a problem around the mount rules and a thousand gaps on lousy suplements, like Exalted Deeds
It falls on the same build category as pun-pun. It is "Legal", but absolutely no DM on its senses would allow that.

Not without pulling equal or greater cheese on the player.
(This is absolutely not necessary.)

Yep. The problem with his build is that it is charge based, so if you can nulify his charging ability, game over for him
The nicest thing to do is using an explosive decoy as his target.
He charges, die, them the game go on.

The nicester thing to do is take the player aside and say "Hey, this is not how this game goes. If you want that, we'll see if that can be arranged, but this is not where you're doing it."
Talk it out, and all that.

Yeah, that's true. Most of the table problems could be solved with a good talk between the players and the GM.
But heck, it certaily amuses me to blow a problem player with a obvious, simple and idiotic trap that any other character could survive.
Anyway, just to note. It is not MWF that is overpowered, is the Kathasa. A race like this should have at least a +1 or +2 of ECL.

1:27 PM
Mmm, class feature: bonus arm.
(Pathfinder Alchemist)

Hmm
What are exactly those small numbers below the users?
(on the "users" area, on the RPG Exchange)
That doesn't seen to be the reputation

Badges?

@ThalesPereira if you just click "users" it's filtered by reputation for a time period. For instnace, right now I think it shows Month
There is a time period selector in the top right corner

What. The. Hell. imgur.com/gallery/hHzx1gU

Hm... but it is even possible to have negative Rep? Zach have -156 of reputation. Or it is the reputation delta?

1:43 PM
@Aaron - I am given to understand that you may be seeing Path of War material in a game you're running. Feel free to ask me questions or leave 'em on the Stack; I'll direct the other project leads onto the site so they can poke 'em for ya.

@ThalesPereira it's reputation delta. If he offered a bounty that's usually the cause

@Aaron Japanese cartoons man, what do you expect?

@Lord_Gareth Metool was playing a POW character I think but that is about the extent I am using it.

@Aaron 'Kaykay, just figured I'd let you know since I'm, y'know, involved

@ThalesPereira rpg.stackexchange.com/users/5793/… 250 rep looks like

1:44 PM
@InbarRose I have seen weird stuff but sometimes I just still go WTH

@ThalesPereira A note - there's 10 users with 'zach' in their names, at least three of which are just called 'zach'

@Lord_Gareth Yea. If I have any questions about his class or powers I will ask you.

Noticed that. I was talking about the "Skull" one

2:30 PM
If I've got a question that really isn't a good fit for the RPG.SE format, is it useful to ask it here? It's pretty list-y, and I'm pretty sure it'd get closed on the main site.

@DuckTapeal worth throwing up against the wall in here,

So, there's a king with a bunch of palace guards. The king knows (somehow) that one of the guards is plotting against him. What kind of things could that guard be doing to make the king (and possible investigative players) think that he's being seditious?

Spending more money than he should have.

I figure that the traitorous guard might be going to meetings involving other people who speak out against the king, and he may complain about the king to people, but after that I can't think of anything.
@BESW Ah, good idea.

Suddenly changing regular habits.
(Different bar after work, different hobby on the weekends, new friends in the break room.)

2:34 PM
Keeping caches of supplies in unusual places.

Suddenly changing his romantic patterns--breaking up with his woman, or suddenly getting a woman.

Meetings with people they've never been seen with before in secluded places (garden, vineyard, etc)

Requesting certain postings and jobs and schedules he wouldn't have wanted before.
Reading literature associated with sedition, such as an adventure novel by an author from an enemy nation.
(I'm trying to assume the guard is relatively canny.)

I'm even happy with stuff that a relatively non-canny guard might do.
This is all great stuff.

I'm specifically thinking of Tower of Secrets and the various things Sheymov did and didn't do in order to defect without suspicion...
If he's smart, the guard will increase his obviously patriotic and devoted activities, offering to help with volunteer work and propaganda.
A smart guard will make it look like he's invested in continuing in his position for some time, working to move up the ranks and establish lasting connections. A dumb guard will stop caring about those things.

2:53 PM
Is there any way that I could phrase this such that it'd work on the main site?
Something like, "How can I make NPCs seem suspicious in an investigation in a fantasy medieval setting?"

A smart guard will setup someone else to take the fall by having him involved in discussions and meetings with questionable people, then have this intermediary report back to him in secret.
Plausible deniability and if all else fails... Just have the middle man murdered.
3

@DuckTapeal: why is the guard defecting?

@MadMAxJr - Did you detect my musings re: Paizo trying to capitalize on the 4e -> 5e transition?

@Dane It's not really clear. Maybe because he wants to feel special, and the only way he knows how to do that is to defect? Maybe he isn't actually defecting, he's just collecting info on traitorous groups?

@Lord_Gareth I did. I really don't have a horse in this race. Just interested in the opinions that are forming.

2:58 PM
It's almost certainly not money, and probably isn't to get a better position; he's got all the money he could want, and his position is super sweet.

K. Ideological defections strike me as a relatively modern reason to defect (anachronism, of course, is perfectly fine in medieval fantasy).
Now, relgion!
*religion

Religion is certainly possible. There's a state religion, so maybe he is an apostate, or a heathen?

Religious sects and cults are a perfect reason to defect, and what the Spaniards feared from Jews during their war with the Muslims.

If possible, make it personal.

Family ties to the enemy kingdom...
Injustice suffered within this kingdom...
I mean, how bright and shiny is the king and his kingdom?
If you want to make things a bit more depressing and twisted all around, perhaps this seemingly good king is responsible for some secret atrocity that plagues the guard's conscience.

About as bright and shiny as possible.
@Dane That's... actually pretty on point.

And what kind of sedition are we talking about? Putting a new king on the throne? Overthrowing the monarchy and establishing a theocracy? Helping an enemy nation invade?

It's sort of super bright and shiny, with a tiny core of evil at the center.

or is this long game infiltration a-la hydra? been filtering in for 50+ years etc

If the guard seemed a bit less enthusiastic about his duties, that might raise the king's suspicion (since he knows the guard might know about the atrocity), but this wouldn't be evidence to the PCs.

@BESW I'd like to try to be pretty ambiguous about exactly what the endgame for what this guy wants is, but if there's stuff that he'd be doing for a particular kind of sedition, I'm willing to use any of it.

@Lord_Gareth And at least one of those who just have Zach as part of the name (me) often falls into the aforementioned "unsolvable problems" issue.

It's very possible that the guard isn't actually seditious, he just seems like he is, and is being (intentionally or otherwise) framed.

If the guard is a regular fighter-type, and if he has a problem with the atrocity, he probably knows that he doesn't really stand a chance of publicly standing against the king. So he's trying to find another way to off the king or at least help out a neighboring kingdom that seems better (if only because he doesn't know it as well).

I need help with building a sorcerer for my Fiance in a Pathfinder campaign.
I know how to build a vanilla sorcerer pretty well, but want to make something a little more unique as there is already another sorcerer in the group. Can anyone link or help me with ideas?

@Phorden What kind of character does she want to play?

Not sure, she has only played a sorcerer once, which was of the elemental bloodline. Not a very interesting choice.
I was looking at the tattoo sorcerer from Inner World Sea Guide, which looked interesting. Not sure if it is decent though.

quick question, does it have to be a sorcerer? I know PF has simulation and cant really separate crunch from fluff, but couldn't she be another class that operated similarly but brought a different range of powers to the table?

@JoshuaAslanSmith possibly, she just said that she really enjoyed playing a sorcerer, but if it is an arcane class that doesn't requite spells to be prepared she probably would consider it.

just food for thought
I can't really assist with any 3.5/PF questions beyond parsing rules given to me or much more general RP questions that happen to occur in those systems

Ultimate Magic has a decent amount of interesting bloodlines. I will look into those for now.

9:13 PM
I would recommend a character concept first.
Also, for sorcerers, the spell selection is a big differentiator.

@JoshuaAslanSmith Thanks for editing your old questions, I'm getting noticeable rep bumps on my answers to them.
Got "Nice Answer" and "Enlightened" on the DFRPG/Core post.
