2:22 AM
@BESW one of the strangest items in 4e.

1 hour later…
3:34 AM
@BrianBallsun-Stanton Whyso?

@BESW the capabilities it offers are... very odd for 4e. What are you actually supposed to do with it?

One moment.

cause if you take a carpet and go up high to become a literal eye in the sky... you uh... then what?

Cosmic Soul feature, Cosmic Connection (30th level): All your ranged powers and area powers have a range of “sight.”
Now let's use something like... Lightning Lure.
At-Will Arcane, Implement, Lightning
Standard Action Ranged 3
Target: One creature
Attack: Intelligence vs. Fortitude
Hit: 1d6 + Intelligence modifier lightning damage, and you pull the target to the nearest unoccupied space adjacent to you.

@BESW yes, see the astronaut build.
What non-game breaking option is there?
That's both fun and within the spirit of the game?

3:37 AM
Wait, breaking the game isn't fun and within the spirit of the game?

@BESW not when it causes @Magician to throw things at you. He's got spiky bits.

Ah. One of my friends throws keys.
Well, if you're in a wilderness (as opposed to dungeon) campaign with a GM who pays attention to distance penalties...

@BESW and stlil allows you to do what, exactly?
4e is fantastic at set-piece battles. Stuff like "We spot the encounter and go around it..."
which is absolutely something I try to do at every opportunity....

Prevent Custer's Last Stand?

Isn't actually fun in a 4e mileu?
@BESW really? you know of a 4e group who'll decline an encounter?

3:40 AM
@BrianBallsun-Stanton No, I know of a 4e group that'll see a Custer's Last Stand ambush scenario as an opportunity.

@BESW ... right...
but yeah. It'd be absurdly fantastic in a game setting that supported operational-level decisions instead of tactical and plot-strategic.
But... It's very hard to actually derive utility from the item in a normal 4e game

I suppose so.
If I had a more free-form campaign in which item like that were requested or bought, I'd probably use advanced skill challenges whose feasibility are justified by the goggles.

@BESW mmm, fair enough.
okay, let's do this the slow but fun way.
since I can't focus worth shite.
Hrmmm
Lots of field operations, with the frontier regiment on defense.

Operational-level type things would probably work as a set of extended skill challenges with multiple stages, each of which requires and/or enables a setpiece.

4:04 AM
Okay, I've got terrain for the fight in the dragonpope's lair. Anybody willing to review it?

4:24 AM
ooooh oooh pick me, pick me! (j/k)

Bad Ben. No cookie.
Anyone who's NOT going to be in the lair fight tomorrow?
@Magician Care to bite?

4:40 AM
@BESW I would, but won't be around for much longer today.

Alas!
@SimonGill ?

3 hours later…
8:01 AM
@BESW Sorry - was sleeping - and will be heading out to see my sister and her family very shortly.

I'll just leave this here, then. docs.google.com/document/d/…

8:28 AM
@BESW Perfect! Thanks, BESW!

6 hours later…
2:10 PM
@Ravn Glad to be of help.

QUICKLY @BESW, YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE
rpg.stackexchange.com/a/22370/6172 <-Is my last suggestion ("don't go to the Paizo forums for help") okay?

Maybe tone down the attack on the design team.

But that's actually a concern. I mean, crap, they wandered into a thread about converting VoP to mock the OP

I'm not saying "don't say it."

Alright...so since I thought I had the polite version installed, how can I say that more politely?

2:19 PM
Just tone it down; say that they're invested in their content vision and express it strongly/firmly on the forums?

Edit'd
Better now?

It's better. Still a bit hostile, but gives an actual context and reason by specifying the legacy content thing.
So I think it'll probably pass.
I wouldn't say it, but I don't think it'll get a modhammer.

Well, see, what I want to say is that every time I've seen the PF design team post anything that wasn't a blog (and even then, flip a coin) it was hostile, confrontational, insulting, holier-than-thou, and spent large amounts of time belittling one or two specific posters in the thread and anyone who dared to play PF differently than SKR thinks they should.
But I figured that accusing them of being wretched, inhuman scumsucking sins against nature might get me moderated.

6 hours later…
8:18 PM
Giving Fractal Mapper a try.

8:54 PM
Any PF Char op types around?

1 hour later…
10:03 PM
@William'MindWorX'Mariager Looks useful. What's going on in this area?

1 hour later…
11:30 PM
@SimonGill [poke]
@SomeGuy Hi.

@BESW hello there

@SomeGuy Is there an antagonist from heroic tier that you think the party would like to see again?

@BESW You are expecting far too much of my ability to remember things.

Fair enough.

@SomeGuy lol. asking players to remember even the previous session is often too much :)

11:37 PM
@waxeagle I am the sort of guy who comments his code before he goes out to lunch, just in case he forgets what he was doing
Occasionally I open the wrong project.

Tonight is the last night of the big D&D campaign.

@SomeGuy I hear yah. I usually show up on Monday wiht no clue what I'm supposed to be doing. Thankfully VS keeps my files open so I can figure it out from context (usually)

11:57 PM
Hello folks
Trying out the chat. I've never been here before.
