Hehe I had a funny experience in our M&M group once. our dark controller who was semi-evil tried to turn a hobo into a horse made of darkness to ride,(he was also police cheif.) he failed and it turned out this hobo was superhuman. the hobo stabbed Zari(our dark controller.) and ran off nearly killing him.
Ollie the Magic Hobo.
He later consumed two of our dead party members with his shadow powers(materializing them as a gaping maw in the ground) and became stronger
also dont refuse little girls with more power than gods.(IE questgivers). they will drive your characters insane.
Originally my character was a Dimensional Shaper capable of quite a bit(Backstory anyway....) he was on a task for said little girl and was forced to make an emergency Dimension Jump into another dimension(ours). because he wasnt careful his jump went awry and cause him to lose almost all of his power(Left with rank 2 superspeed and rank 2 disintegration but not his dimensional powers. which is how he was power level two.)
he ended up in an alleyway unconsios(Spawning terrible jokes OOC) and when he awoke the girls voice was inside his head telling him to meet the rest of the group. he tried to explain about the little girl to everyone else to get them to come along and theythought he was crazy, which eventually did go crazy because he lacked the power to withstand her presence in his mind.
he was captain slow..... a joke spawned from the fact that he could run only marginally better than a human, and no one belived he used to be able to shape dimensions to his will.
the Keeper of the Flame is not (necessarily) chosen from among the Church's bishops, but rather chosen directly by the Silver Flame itself, and usually has more to do with the Keeper's destiny status and prophetic abilities than with any other qualifications
heh, the other important note is that the country of Thrane is a theocracy ruled by the Church, so Jaela's not just the spiritual leader of the church, she's also a head of state
@Novian: anyway, the reason I brought up Jaela Daran is that, while in Eberron the highest-level humanoids are just pushing level 10, and Jaela herself is just a Human Cleric 3, when she is within the cathedral that houses the Silver Flame she counts as a Cleric 18. Which, in Eberron, is high enough to go toe-to-toe with anybody
well considering at my current level even if I could use the Feat then they would only last 5 rounds. unfortunately i cannot cast 4th level spells yet.
@somori Yeaaah, not so much for combat. Most Reserve feats are bad because they're combat abilities (mostly blasting), and they're really mediocre as combat abilities. But Summon Elemental's got great utility use.
@somori Yeaaah, (Summoning) effects don't really give them a lot of choice about it, and besides, you explicitly get a new one every time (there's actually a variant where you don't), so it's not like they know what's coming
@Novian eh, water breathing can be had for cheaper, and the CL boost for [Water] spells is only useful if for some reason you have a lot of those
Warlocks have a fair few nice things, but ultimately they get far too few Invocations Known, and the Invocations were nerfed too hard in compensation for their at-will nature
like, clearly at-will is better than limited per day, but Wizards overvalued how much better, and therefore made Invocations worse than they should have been for balance
with spellcasters, which admittedly are a poor balance point in the first place
@Novian: it's class features are a mish-mash of minor abilities that dno't synergize in the slightest, and it's few major class features are mutually exclusive. It's a melee class with d8 HD and 3/4 BAB, and Flurry piles more penalties on top of that.
@somori eh, Iaijutso caps at 9d6 and it's non-trivial to get there, plus it's usually on only one attack. Neat that you needed only skill points to do it, but it's not amazing
I strongly recommend replacing it with Ardent (Complete Psionics) or Psychic Warrior (Expanded Psionics Handbook or SRD) with Tashalatora (Secrets of Sarlona), or with the Swordsage (Tome of Battle)
@Novian really not "my" opinion so much as the consensus opinion of the wider 3.5-playing community. This is generally an accepted fact.
ToB is the best-designed book WotC ever printed for 3.5, and its balance – both internally, among the options it presents, and externally, in how it responds to encounters – is tighter than any other book by several orders of magnitude
@Novian that's due at least in part to your playing an extremely low-op game; generally speaking I've found that's true of a lot of members here.
@Novian: by the way, I really hope you do not take comments about "low-op" as an insult or anything; they are very much not meant to be. Having fun is what matters. In a conversation like this, though, I'm talking about my own experience with much higher standards for how a class is supposed to perform, and the Monk does not keep up.
....too bad I cant summon trolls. One thing im good at is making horrid puns. I want to be able to say "For my standard action "I Troll the enemy""
wonder is my freind has gotten off his ass and finished the 3rd edition of his RPG
Im looking foward to Unrealistic Chaos 3rd Edition.....
somehow he takes nonsensical DM and Player Bullshit and makes it both playable and enjoyable.
an enemy once threw a dMillion at me.
another of my freinds is working on his custom Digimon RPG and the only thing that was wrong with the last one was Digivolution imbalance. I digivolved 2 or 3 encounters before anyone else. I was a Badass
