If I did this right, we should get meta questions posted to this room.

@MonicaCellio I think a lot of people look at Wikipedia as a guilty pleasure. I know I do.
Sep 19, 2017 22:17
@BESW Heh. RT'd.
Sep 19, 2017 22:17
@JDługosz Howdy
Sep 15, 2017 02:18
@MonicaCellio excellent. I wish we'd had this back when we had the scheduled chatroom events.
Sep 15, 2017 01:16
@MonicaCellio - How did you make that writing challenge meta question into a community event? My first thought was "wow, SW AI is getting really good. :D Then I saw your comment.
Sep 10, 2017 05:03
@BESW LOL. I use Google Keep on my phone for stuff I think of before falling asleep.
Aug 17, 2017 18:06
@BESW That was an amazing movie, and that documentary is quite good. Saw it a while back, I think on the DVD...?

I've been eyeing Primus's album about charlie and the chocolate factory, it looks pretty weird and cool.
Aug 9, 2017 19:07
My daughter's a bit of a TV junkie while she gets over her cold, which may have informed my choice of topic. :D

Q: Writing challenge - 9 Aug 2017 - 29 Aug 2017 - Television

Neil FeinWelcome back to the Writing Challenge! After feedback received, it was decided that the next one should include a prompt. So, here are two options: Challenge Write something about television. This is based off what my daughter is doing while she's sick with a fever. Prompt [...] bli...

Didn't want to step on your toes or anything.
Aug 9, 2017 18:57
Sure, I'll do it now.
Aug 9, 2017 18:57
Ha!
Aug 9, 2017 18:57
Feel free to ask someone else to post one.
Aug 9, 2017 18:57
Oh, no worries! Keeping this stuff going is a lot of work.
Aug 9, 2017 18:56
Hoping to see some new writing exercises soon, anything I can do to help?
Aug 9, 2017 18:56
@Mithrandir Hey, how's it going?
Aug 6, 2017 13:41
@Standback sorry to hear it, no worries about the site.
Aug 4, 2017 23:31
@Standback @MonicaCellio ^ FYI
Aug 4, 2017 23:30
We reopened this and @MarkBaker made it less of a question jamming on what to write and a better question for Writers. A lot of the answers are out of date, now. Anyone want to take a stab at editing answers?

Q: How can I have a war with no "good" or "evil" side?

Aric FowlerI'm conceptualising a story involving two heroes who go on an epic journey and return bitter rivals etc. etc. and form their own forces in a sort of civil war. My issue is that I want them to both be on the "good" side. How can I write a story in which both sides are "good". I want to somehow ma...

Hey, could use some thoughts on this question:
Aug 4, 2017 18:27
You pantser, you.
Aug 4, 2017 18:06
I'd like to see more. :)
Aug 4, 2017 18:05
@KitZ.Fox That's quite good.
Aug 4, 2017 15:41
Gonna have to read it later, I have a toddler screaming in my ear.
Aug 4, 2017 15:40
That did it.
Aug 4, 2017 15:39
It's not loading for me. I'll try another browser.
Aug 4, 2017 15:27
@KitZ.Fox Sounds like there' gonna be identity confusion with this. "Hold off, am I Mom? Am I her son? Help, I'm feeling like... wait a minute, Mom did this."
Jul 28, 2017 01:34
:)
Jul 28, 2017 01:29
@BESW Will do.
Jul 28, 2017 01:28
And... I remember my first downvotes ever, on Superuser. It was like a punch in the gut.

Writing mod here. Thanks for taking this conversation off the main site. I was fine with it until the discussion started degenerating into name-calling. I don't see any benefit to the site in unfreezing this room.

Hey, anyone in the NJ/NYC area want to buy my Burley Minnow? It's a one-kid trailer (I upgraded to a bigger one) and less than a year old. Asking $200.
Jan 4, 2018 22:24
@Criggie I used some yellow safety glasses for a while and they were quite nice at night, I think they increase contrast in low light. The ones I ordered have an amber/orange tint, we'll see how that does.
Jan 4, 2018 16:47
I used a pair of these‌ a few years beck. They kept my eyes amazingly warm, and the interchangeable lenses are great, but they fog up a lot and never quite fit me right.
Jan 4, 2018 16:44
Most importantly the Smith Optics I got has vents and purportedly don't fog up. They're inexpensive and good starter goggles.
Jan 4, 2018 16:43
They won't work for riding at night but I don't do all that much of that these days, and the night riding I do is mostly less than a mile or so; I can just use regular glasses for anything that short.
Jan 4, 2018 16:42
@Batman @Criggie @alex I ordered a pair of these for now.
Jan 4, 2018 12:13
@Batman yes.
Jan 4, 2018 04:45
My sister's family does a lot of skiing, gonna ask them next time I see them. Just thought of that.
Jan 4, 2018 04:44
@Criggie there are a few that have bents to prevent digging, gonna try looking for that.
Jan 4, 2018 04:44
I'll keep an eye on the tint, thanks for that
Jan 4, 2018 04:43
Unfortunately lab goggles kill my peripheral vision.
Jan 4, 2018 02:24
Hey, anyone here have a set of ski goggles they can recommend? I'm looking for some for cold-weather riding.

@MichaelKjörling I'd add that if this question were asking how to write a good answer on this site it'd clearly be a meta question; but since it's broader than that, I'm of the opinion it's more of a meta-ish-writing question than a writers-meta-question.
