I have to go now. I'll be around a bit later tomorrow.
May 9, 2022 21:37
Chat is built into gmail now
May 9, 2022 21:35
Hmm, not seeing it
May 9, 2022 21:33
I have no idea whatsoever. Maybe they program them at the factory for you? Or maybe you need special hardware? I don't know.
May 9, 2022 21:29
Time for me to go shortly. I'm away most of tomorrow, but feel free to message me on google's chat system in gmail. It's easier than email for general chatting.
May 9, 2022 21:20
But hard to get at the moment like many components :(
May 9, 2022 21:20
These are the ones I usually use with PIC32MZ chips: uk.farnell.com/abracon/asemb-24-000mhz-lc-t/…
May 9, 2022 21:18
It can, yes. You need to be careful with your trace layout and grounding arrangement to reduce EMI.
May 9, 2022 21:17
A crystal and oscillator circuit all in one tiny package. Puts out a simple square wave. No need to mess with load capacitors, or problems with EMI regulations.
May 9, 2022 21:14
Early versions of the PIC32MZ chips didn't work too well with crystals, so I switched to MEMS clock chips instead. Now I use them all the time and rarely use crystals any more.
May 9, 2022 21:14
I use 24MHz external clock chips for them. You have to be quite careful with your clock selection as only a limited range can work with the USB PLL.
May 9, 2022 21:13
It's getting hard to find things that aren't 32 bit now. It's all "ARM Cortex" everywhere you turn...
May 9, 2022 21:11
It's like I can send a letter to a friend with your address in it because it has his address on the front of the letter.
May 9, 2022 21:10
1110xxx0 is only ever seen by the switch if it immediately follows the start bit.
May 9, 2022 21:09
But you can send S11000110A11101010AP fine
May 9, 2022 21:09
So S1110xxx0A00001000AP
May 9, 2022 21:09
You send the start bit, then 1110xxx0 then wait for an ACK response, then send the port setting, then wait for an ACK response, then send the stop bit.
May 9, 2022 21:08
No

I know someone whose daughter moved to Finland. She had big problems with the language because the muscles in her jaw weren't capable of making the right shapes to speak the words. It's a very strange language.
May 9, 2022 21:01
Danish is closer to Swedish. I can almost converse with them...
May 9, 2022 21:01
Neither do most of the finns ;)
May 9, 2022 21:00
Many things are. Just add a few more A's to the english and you get the dutch. Or maybe the Finnish ;)
May 9, 2022 20:59
Yes, they're nice.
May 9, 2022 20:59
Ah, chicken satay.
May 9, 2022 20:59
Not sure I want to ;)
May 9, 2022 20:58
I was delayed sorting out some sales for dispatch too.
May 9, 2022 20:58
Yum
May 9, 2022 20:52
The value 1110xxx0 is only recognised as a device address if it follows the "start bit". All other 1110xxx0 values are just values and pass through unhindered (unless preceeded by the address of the switch of course).
May 9, 2022 20:50
Only if a device sees the transaction start with its own address will it take any notice of anything else that follows.
May 9, 2022 20:49
Every I2C transaction starts with the device address.
May 9, 2022 20:49
Only as a start value though.
May 9, 2022 20:49
Kind of.
May 9, 2022 20:25
?
May 9, 2022 20:24
yeah. You just write the "control register" for which channel you want connected and it connects it.
May 9, 2022 20:18
It's just a device on the I2C bus. You send it a command and it switches to one of the sets of switched bus pins. It is then transparent for other addresses.

I usually shop for my displays in China. It's cheaper... aliexpress.com/item/32879702750.html

This looks a good one - does the level shifting too. ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tca9544a.pdf
May 9, 2022 19:38
Simpler would be to use an SPI based screen instead.
May 9, 2022 19:37
You would need an I2C multiplexer.
May 9, 2022 19:37
There isn't.
May 9, 2022 19:36
Two of the same device on the same bus with the same address doesn't work.
May 9, 2022 19:36
You can have lots of devices on one I2C bus, yes, but only if they all have unique addresses.
May 9, 2022 19:35
These ones are I2C, so getting more than 2 (2 I2C buses) is tricky
May 9, 2022 19:34
All off one fubarino?
May 9, 2022 19:30
ok
May 9, 2022 19:28
Cariad has a good few hundred fonts in it, from tiny 5x7 pixels to massive full screen characters.
May 9, 2022 19:27
If you can display graphics you can display text. Text is just graphics in certain shapes :)
