The premise reminds me of the Sock Eater and Wart Gnome by Terry Pratchett :)

Even if they bring antibiotics, almost all of the time travelers will die of some horrible disease. And worse, the bacteria and viruses they bring with them might wipe out a good potion of the humans living then.

It would be mich easier on Midnight..
