Thank you :) I will take a look

Here's another example. Thank you @AlessandroCodenotti, @Thorgott and @Semiclassical

I thought it was a typo at first, but then he used it many times over, I'll see if I can upload a screenshot

Exactly, was thinking the same, the 'I' was where I got confused...

x ~ NI(0, \sigma^2)
Jan 15, 2020 20:44
dont recall seeing this notation before. NI(0, sigma^2)
Jan 15, 2020 20:43
Hi, does anyone happen to have an idea what this notation means: NI(0,sigma^2). I'm reading about sampling statistics by Fuller and I don

Sure, no problem. Little help is still help :-)
May 26, 2018 11:43
Thank you for sharing, you do important community service :)
May 26, 2018 11:42
Okay, nice to know. I need to check these out as well :-) Appreciate it.
May 26, 2018 11:38
Perfect, thank you so much :-) I will take a look on the links you provided :)
May 26, 2018 11:35
okay, thank you very much! :) Appreciate your help. Maybe I'm being too careful on the words.
May 26, 2018 11:32
@MartinSleziak yes, exactly that part :)
May 26, 2018 11:26
I've been reading about Statistical Learning Theory by V. Vapnik and the context has been about Hilbert spaces. Actually my previous question was from the same book :) Thank you for your help!

I have a simple question. What does "weak compactum" mean? I know that compactum means a complete metric space, but what does "weak compactum" mean?

Appreciate it @BAYMAX, maybe I'll do that :-)

hi @BAYMAX thank you for the links. Unfortunately they don't provide me the answers I'm looking for.

What does this mean: "compact with respect to the weak topology"? specifically?
Apr 27, 2018 12:44
So I'm interested about this part: ""One may call subsets of a topological vector space weakly compact, if they are compact with respect to the weak topology""
Apr 27, 2018 12:42
English is not my native language and in this case it is difficult for me to understand what this sentence means.
Apr 27, 2018 12:41
One may call subsets of a topological vector space weakly closed (respectively, weakly compact, etc.) if they are closed (respectively, compact, etc.) with respect to the weak topology.

Hi, I'm trying to understand what a weakly compact set means. I tried to read from wikipedia which states the following:

Yes I was going to mention in my presentation that these categorizations are not so rigid and some technique could belong to more than one categories
Jan 26, 2018 13:47
I will add those methods to my table
Jan 26, 2018 13:47
Thank you so much! :)
Jan 26, 2018 13:45
Hi @RobertoRibeiro, thank you very much for your help! =)
Jan 24, 2018 12:37
Note that the categorizations here are not absolutely rigid, some techniques could be in two of the boxes but this is just an example in my school project. Anyways, I would appreciate if you could verify whether my classification is legit or not. Furthermore, if you can come up with more devices/techniques I could add to my table that would be super!

Note: I'm not sure is it correct to use the category "non-optical" here, but I use it here to simply mean devices/techniques which don't utilize the visible light band in the electromagnetic spectrum.

Hello everybody, I'm doing a presentation in my school about different remote sensing sensors and techniques. I have made the following categorization and I just wanted to make sure that I have not misclassified anything:
