I actually think that not misgendering people is very important - I would no more want to use the wrong pronouns than the wrong name (which is ironic since I'm extremely bad at remembering names...). And I think that SE considering this is a good thing. But the way the CoC, and especially the FAQ, are written, is not good, and the way they have treated Monica is abysmal - even if she had violated the CoC (which I've seen no evidence of), this would still have been the wrong way to go about it.
Yes. I'm very fed up with the situation. Speaking as a SJP (like an SJW, but Paladin) and as being in a relationship with a trans person, I am very in favour of not misgendering people, and if that were what the new CoC requires I would be applauding it. But it's not, and kicking out a respected moderator and shaming her with the media under her actual name, and resolutely ignoring all the long-term members who've made the SE sites into what they are... it's way beyond what I can support.
All this is very near to Arlanda, the main airport for the Stockholm area. The authorities don't allow building houses near the airport because that inevitably ends with noise complaints. So the farms and the woods nearby are likely to stay the way they are, giving us a lot of lovely routes to go riding!
This is very good training for the horses, the climbing is good exercise for the muscles and the tricky ground means they need to be careful about where they place their hooves, which trains their balance. And mine - it's hard to sit well balanced on a horse that's moving around sideways and downhill!
The stable is attached to a farm, and there's forest nearby, so we can ride on the small gravel roads, or along the fields (there are paths where we are allowed to ride that won't harm the crops), or in the forest, or a mix. Today I went out with two friends. We started out on the road, then turned into the woods, then climbed a hill that's maybe 20m high and with a lot of undergrowth so the footing is a bit tricky.
I'm going to spend tonight sleeping - too old for Friday night partying... tomorrow mostly at home, and Sunday going horse riding. I'm planning on hacking (=riding out in nature instead of in a paddock) for at least an hour.
I've had 5 weeks so I shouldn't complain. Though I did work a bit, but I could set my own pace and do most of it sitting in a chair on my porch so it wasn't exactly painful.
Usually me and my husband travel somewhere for a couple of weeks during the summer - last year we drove from Sweden to Scotland, the year before that we flew to Italy.
This year it's just relax, get some things fixed around the house. I've been having some health issues during the spring, and will have surgery to hopefully fix them for good sometime in late September/early October, so I want to just enjoy the peace and quiet at home now, take the time to go riding my horse a lot, to charge my batteries before the surgery.
Also, the Migration thing is great - I just told the new computer to copy everything from the old one. It took a couple of hours due to using wifi instead of cable, but once it was done, everything just works
Todcay I finally got my new laptop! I em very much enjoying having several VMs chugging away in the background while working in several browser windows, and it does not keep freezing!
@JourneymanGeek yeah, but if you then get asked "so you have no work experience" and you say "that's right, I've never worked", and they later find out that you did work for a couple of months, they're going to start wondering why you lied. Lying about stuff is a good way to get fired.
I just got told that my computer won't be ready until mid next week. I might be able to get a rebate though as they just released new models after I'd ordered but before it got delivered
@yagmoth555 in Sweden we do those kinds of fires on April 30th. On midsummer we raise phallic symbols and dance around them, a bit like that scene in the original Wickerman.
A gentleman's agreement only works if both parties behave like "gentlemen". Which your partner doesn't. This means it's time for the two of you to get down to brass tacks and put things into writing, before you stop being friendly.
