I think this was actually addressed on another meta post - the gist of it is, as per the ToS, SO has the right to use and commercially exploit the content, but not relicense it.

From what I see on the wayback machine, this wording in the ToS was added some time between 2016 and June 18

Let me expand, as I have done many times, on exactly what I mean: The real beef is SO pulling the carpet under our legs. The licensing issue is a specific instance of this.

@teego1967 I do not have the power or resources SO has. The most direct way for me to address the real issue, lack of respect, is to hold them to account on our agreement. Do you think if I violated the ToS I should get away with it? They did exactly the same thing, and they have no interest in fixing it after many months of the issue pointed out to them. I'm open to alternatives, if you see one.

@teego1967 Was the argument really about dirty dishes alone? You're absolutely right. Let me address something you wrote earlier: The license change is not a simple forgivable oversight. If that were the case they would've rectified it by now. Their action had legal counsel (as per the original post), the problem was pointed out to them repeatedly and their response was, in so many words, "we don't care". The real problem, as I said before, is the complete lack of respect SO has for its contributors. SO has no interest in fixing that, so neither do I.

@teego1967 I'm waiting for someone to say "you're wrong and this is where it says so". Still waiting for that mea culpa. This is the internet, right? If I'm wrong, someone will point it out eventually. But that's not what I get; I only get what are you gonna do about it? That's not a relationship between partners who respect each other. You're damn right I'm resentful. I spent a lot of time and effort on these sites, on the understanding that SO is a curator of my content, and I don't like being treated like this. Simple as that. This is the forest, the license is just a tree.

@teego1967 As you have correctly guessed, I have an issue when someone violates an agreement they have with me. The rest is detail.

@sanyash I'm not the best guy to ask for a simple explanation. Please consider going over the links I posted, or if you're just looking for the big conclusion, see the final edit.

@RichardSaysReinstateMonica I've already agreed not to join a class action as per the ToS. However, since SO violated their own ToS, I don't see why others shouldn't try this option.

Thrusters equals weight. A lot of weight. The more weight you have, the more fuel you need, The more fuel you need, the more weight you have. Reverse thrusters are something that won't fire unless you're landing, which is a tiny fraction of the time. The SpaceX tube used its main thrusters to decelerate, orienting its butt towards the sea. This is much cheaper overall.

You've come across a lot of problems that you wouldn't see if your management had a clue. Hard drive failure: Code should be in a repository for this very reason. Personal laptop: Huge no-no due to IP contamination. If you must, next time create a user account just for this purpose. Moving deadlines: This is the time to show pushback. All in all, you did wonderfully well, better than many senior devs would've done in the time given. All these are lessons learned in a bad company, which will prove invaluable in later life.

@lalala Doesn't really matter. I never heard the alarm. Both devices were away from the bed where I had left them, so I didn't turn them off in my sleep (as has happened in the past). I used 2-3 alarms per devices for 6-6:30, and I left my half-hour interval alarms alone. One of them was for 8:30, which is the one that woke me up.

@JoeStrazzere Good question. I got disheartened, to be honest, I thought my contributions were not valued. That was entirely in my head as I came to realize later.

@AaronF I gave the wrong impression. I only stayed for a pint, was in bed by 23:30. Then I couldn't sleep, as I kept thinking how important it is to wake up on time. Next thing I know, I finally hear the alarm and I'm 2 hours late.
