@ChristineCooper, if you talk about embeding videos is something totally different than oembed implementation in wordpress. If I got the code right (and I looked very breifly) oembed_cache posts should not have meta associated with them
May 13 11:00
it is from 4.9 btw
May 13 10:55
hmmmmmmmmm oembed_cache is a post type.... who had this stupid idea, and how did I fail to notie it ;)
Apr 24 18:50
was a little sarcastic, don't realy see the point in commenting there any longer
Apr 24 12:18
oh, will I be able to comment on make posts? I assumed gary blocked me after I said that his idea of emoji comments like in github was super stupid. Actually now I don't think it is that stupid, but for sure not a core feature.
Apr 24 07:54
it reads like only for people that know the secret handshake :)
Apr 24 07:50
@TomJNowell the wordpress jubillee post by matt
Apr 24 06:04
is there a translation to english of the previous one?
Jan 24 04:48
one of the things they have done right in classic which I havn't looked at yet is to install plugins directly from git
Jan 24 03:40
No idea if classic backported xml sitemaps from 5.2
Jan 24 03:40
@Howdy_McGee, at least at the start classic wanted to be 4.9 forever. I don't follow their internal code too much but they do backport some changes from wordpress but don't know how much. Calm was about running "side by side" with wordpress while removing gutenberg and fixing many security problems and remove unused features
Jan 20 08:01
@Howdy_McGee unlike classic, I am going with a "live" fork with calmpress. not being a good marketing person I don't have people that can help, but you can look at the github issues to have an idea of what is going on, and if you interested I will build current version github.com/calmPress/calmpress/issues

matt need to promote himself to CDO, Cheif Drama Officer
Dec 21, 2024 02:33
so yes, he does start to shut down wp.org. There is always a holiday somewhere in the world.
Dec 15, 2024 15:05
the blurred border between automattic, wp.org and matt are real fun for every lawyer, can argue for anything
Dec 15, 2024 15:04
not a lawyer, but don't think court can tell matt what to do with his property as long as he do not discremenate. an extream edge case he buys bitcoins with all his money and loses the harddrive in a landfill ;) in such a case court can't force him to pay money he do not have to maintain the service
Dec 12, 2024 03:00
that was an obvious easy win, matt never had any merit in his actions.
automattic pulling resources? the main danger is matt shutting wordpress.org which I guess he legally can, but so much of money coming from WC depends on keeping the plugin distribution via wp.org alive so it will be not rational to do that.
OTOH.... matt has his money and fame, and seems like no one tells him that his behaviour indicates a need for therapy, so sadly the option of shutting down wp.org is not that far fetched.
Nov 17, 2024 18:34
interesting question, but IMO just another take on the old "every form has to have nonce" myth
Nov 13, 2024 03:27
lol, now matt went all bat shit publishing private information about sites which were hosted at WPE. guess he can claim that it is not 100% private, but this is getting so so close to someone calling EU regulators to get involved.
Nov 1, 2024 16:12
some times there just no good answer, some of them should have just been offtopic in the first place
Oct 29, 2024 17:18
:)
Oct 29, 2024 17:18
and how much content on the web and especially wordpress look like that? did I ever want cols for my blog posts? never
Oct 29, 2024 17:16
and in any case it is an edge usage, served by page builders
Oct 29, 2024 17:15
could not maybe, but more likely core didn't want to invest in it
Oct 29, 2024 17:14
and tiny now is ofc a way better editor than you get in core because there is no incentive to upgrade it
Oct 29, 2024 17:13
what does gutenberg offers that wasn't possible to do in tiny, and how often people use it in that way
Oct 29, 2024 17:12
same same for this discussion
Oct 29, 2024 17:12
elementor is the toll for page building
Oct 29, 2024 17:11
oh, why would anyone want to use gutenberg?
Oct 29, 2024 17:11
whether you want you don't want to SEO that post
Oct 29, 2024 17:10
look at what yoast do to your post editing UX
Oct 29, 2024 17:10
the question was raised back then, maybe it is still, but probably people just install yoast and don't think anything is missing
Oct 29, 2024 17:09
matt decided years ago that SEO is not part of wordpress
Oct 29, 2024 17:08
*force
Oct 29, 2024 17:08
if you "fore" people to install plugins you have no control on how the UI actually looks
Oct 29, 2024 17:07
yeh
Oct 29, 2024 17:04
(bonus for removing the content title from post editing, maybe for some posts I wanr a preface after which the title is displayed, why do I need to code where the H1 is)
Oct 29, 2024 17:02
there are basic things related to SEO, title is just the most important one
Oct 29, 2024 17:02
how many plugins do those sites use?
Oct 29, 2024 17:01
don't use SEO? don't disable xmlrps?
Oct 29, 2024 17:00
you can still enumerate user names for god sake
Oct 29, 2024 17:00
not realy, out of the box it is just an incomplete toy
Oct 29, 2024 16:59
user oriented OS
Oct 29, 2024 16:59
so the OS will be usable
Oct 29, 2024 16:58
can you imagine using an OS, that tells you, ok now first thing go search and install some app
Oct 29, 2024 16:58
microdata? most likely should not be in core
Oct 29, 2024 16:57
SEO title, not the content title
Oct 29, 2024 16:56
inserting microdata could have also been done in core, that standard is old now
Oct 29, 2024 16:55
setting a title per post is not broad. "There are many options" can not be an excuse to doing nothing
Oct 29, 2024 16:53
a product should serve 80% of the users. How can you pretend wordpress serving anyone without support of SEO
