You say that there wasn't "a modal need" in my question. Fine. But there wasn't "a lexical need" there as well. If you spot a mistake you don't twist the question because of that. You CLEARLY realized that the question was about the modal need. And even that mistake can't and couldn't change the nature of the question. But you deliberately initiated the fuss and your personal campaign to harp on "Anyway, the verb "need" is not a modal."
Mar 26, 2021 16:56
I am sorry but it's not only about what I gave you but what you wanted it to be or how you wanted to see it. Why? Because this is how you corrected it "[correction: Nobody needs to hurry]. – Lambie" Don't you recognize your correction? Why didn't you correct it as this "[correction: Nobody need hurry]? Because you didn't know at the time that NNED can be modal.
Mar 25, 2021 18:02
Of course, I made an obvious mistake as everybody can and makes mistakes. But to use my mistake in order to discredit me and my question is low on your end.
Mar 25, 2021 18:00
I beg your pardon. What was the title of my question?
Mar 25, 2021 17:55
I know what your first claim was. Here it is "Anyway, the verb "need" is not a modal." Now you are trying to convince me that you mean the need in my sentence. But it's not the case. You didn't know that need can be modal. Shame!
Mar 25, 2021 17:53
@ Lambie the matter is that at first you said "Anyway, the verb "need" is not a modal." which means you didn't mean the need in my sentence but any need.
Mar 25, 2021 17:53
@ Lambie seems like all you want to accomplish is show that someone doesn't know something while you know it. If I didn't know the difference I wouldn't have asked the question and corrected it. This is my right to correct. You want to look smart at the expense of a typo? If you knew that NEED can be modal you would have never said "Anyway, the verb "need" is not a modal."
Mar 25, 2021 17:53
@Lambie this is what you said "Anyway, the verb "need" is not a modal"
Mar 25, 2021 17:53
I am asking about the modal need.
Mar 25, 2021 17:53
I don't need to correct my grammar first. If I do it, I won't be asking questions here. If you think need is not a modal then you are welcome to read this collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/need

See you around.
Feb 16, 2019 06:33
Thank you for lovely chatting.
Feb 16, 2019 06:33
I gave you really good advice, I am sure you appreciate it.
Feb 16, 2019 06:32
So am I)))
Feb 16, 2019 06:32
Still a long way to go and learn how to respect others who don't fall into your "correct" view of life.
Feb 16, 2019 06:31
I think you are under 40.
Feb 16, 2019 06:31
If you were learning a foreign language you would be more humble in your judgments of questions of others'.
Feb 16, 2019 06:30
To speak and to explain are not the same.
Feb 16, 2019 06:29
I know such teachers, who can't explain anything properly.
Feb 16, 2019 06:29
So, you know only English.
Feb 16, 2019 06:29
Try to respect others, my remote friend.
Feb 16, 2019 06:28
Of course, because it shows that you are incompetent.
Feb 16, 2019 06:28
How many languages do you know except English?
Feb 16, 2019 06:27
You didn't answer my original question.
Feb 16, 2019 06:27
I got the answer form another man.
Feb 16, 2019 06:26
It's a self-inflicted concern. How many languages do you know?
Feb 16, 2019 06:24
I got an excellent answer thanks to the man who answered and to the website. It shouldn't be your concern what this site can or can't do unless you pay for its maintenance.
Feb 16, 2019 06:21
I got help by the way on the site.
Feb 16, 2019 06:20
Are you the owner of the website?
Feb 16, 2019 06:20
Really? How do you know that?
Feb 16, 2019 06:20
Are you the owner of the website?
Feb 16, 2019 06:19
You are being snooty.
Feb 16, 2019 06:19
After reading the explanation I got I understood the difference.
Feb 16, 2019 06:18
You can see it only if you already know it. It's not that easy.
Feb 16, 2019 06:17
You are unfair.
Feb 16, 2019 06:17
You seem to see the world only through yourself without thinking that others may see it differently. And ESL students may have difficulty understanding simple things.
Feb 16, 2019 06:15
This article is only clear if you already know the difference.
Feb 16, 2019 06:14
Show me the answer in a dictionary. It's so easy to find as you say.
Feb 16, 2019 06:13
Show me that article in the dictionary.
Feb 16, 2019 06:13
Why do we have forums then if we have dictionaries? Let's resort to them.
Feb 16, 2019 06:12
I never asked you to close the question.
Feb 16, 2019 06:11
Are you equivocating?
Feb 16, 2019 06:09
Fine. Show me why my question should have been closed.
Feb 16, 2019 06:08
I disagree with those who decided to close it.
Feb 16, 2019 06:08
The same is here.
Feb 16, 2019 06:07
I mean you have to do yourself what you tell others to do.
Feb 16, 2019 06:07
OK. Give me the real reason why they decided to close it.
Feb 16, 2019 06:06
When you say "you must agree with someone's conclusions to respect their expertise" you aim it at yourself as well.
Feb 16, 2019 06:06
If you can prove that my question is OFF TOPIC then you will prove that your position deserves good faith until then I don't see your comments to be fair.
Feb 16, 2019 06:06
I see it much simpler than you do. I am a learner of English. This website is for simple issues related to English. My question is valid. I see no reason to close it. My assuming good faith of someone depends on that particular someone. Those people who didn't even try to answer but decided to close assumed good faith of me? I beg your pardon, but my question is not OFF TOPIC as they state it.
