Why are you placing President in its own category? Where is this singular versus parallel title concept coming from? I feel like this distinction is one you came up with, along with the rule I've never heard of that "a singular title passes to the next person exclusively".

@J.ChrisCompton Hang on. By your reasoning why would they be Senator Obama, Governor Bush, or Governor Clinton? They no longer hold those offices, either.

You're trying to avoid plagiarizing someone else's idea, which is noble. I get that. I think we all understand that you're just trying to do the right thing. What we're telling you is that site policy places more importance on having complete, self-contained answers than on ensuring everyone gets the proper amount of rep points. You can link to @Glorfindel's answer to make it clear that you're borrowing from him.

Yes, indeed, you ought to update the answer. It's best when each answer stands alone. It's not ideal to have them build upon each other. Your resistance to improving this answer is strange. In fact, Stack Exchange policy not only allows, but encourages comprehensive answers that consolidate information scattered among other incomplete ones.
