@Wipqozn thank you, will do.

What's the process for recommending certain questions get moved to another SE? Do I just leave a comment? Message a mod?

I've been chatting with the folks over at the Gamedev SE about Rec Room specific questions. Now that rec room has added their own Unity integration and such, i think questions pertaining to rec room development should potentially be moved there.

I'm of course not at all familiar with the process to do that, however, so some advice would be greatly appreciated. This recent question, for instance, I think should be moved to Gamedev SE https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/407692/how-do-i-get-an-output-if-two-objects-collide-in-rec-room

Maybe down the line there can be discord bots that automatically cross-post SE questions with relevant tags. This may already exist- I know there's one for github issues, for instance.

This was definitely my thinking as well. There are plenty of questions that could be brought over and crediting the discord users is a really good idea. I can also reach out to the answerer from discord to see if they'd like to post their answer on SE or just rather have me do it with credit to them.

I think cross posting is what I'm looking to advocate for; I've done this with some other projects I've been involved with as well (playing around with the Vulkan API for instance) where when I have a question, I'll write it up on an appropriate SE site then post the link to discord- people se

@DMGregory thank you for the kind words, but I'll refrain from accepting praise until I'm able to get some results ^.^;
Mar 12, 2024 19:29
I remember going through that with the Rec Room tag.
Mar 12, 2024 19:28
there is a significant number of users that constantly bemoan the "discord information silo" dilemma we're in right now, so I'll start advising them to at least cross post to the gamedev SE.
Mar 12, 2024 19:20
Alright, then, maybe the path forward to my campaign is advocating for more adoption of the GameDev SE for these UGC platform questions.
Mar 12, 2024 19:17
they all need some work to be SE worthy, just getting a bit of a survey.
Mar 12, 2024 19:11
@Zibelas However, I'd expect those would be offtopic for GameDev SE, yeah?
Mar 12, 2024 19:03
There's a lot more that are more product support (i.e. can't log in, crashing, etc) that I'd still consider off-topic, but these would be questions that I'd want to be able to be answered on a SE site.

In thinking through this, maybe it would be helpful to see the kinds of questions be asked?

I've put together a quick Notion page with some questions I ripped directly off from the discord forums only in the VRChat server.

Looking at the volume of questions and answers on the respective discords, I could expect that attracting even 5% of the answerers and questioners engaged on stack exchange would represent a large amount of volume.

man... looking through these discord forums, though... I'm also aware that campaigning for more people to use SE for their Q&As would drive a lot of low quality engagement. Not to be rude, but some of these community folks can barely type.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated ^.^

Been thinking about getting more questions from UGC platforms into some kind of stack exchange; platforms like VRChat, Rec Room, ChilloutVR, and Resonite. Currently they all extensively use discord servers as their Q&A solution.

I'm currently writing up an Area51 proposal but I'm also trying to determine if /maybe/ the Game Dev SE would be appropriate for these platforms Q&A? There could be some overlap (asset creation, unity workflows, scripting) but there's also a lot of bespoke nonsense (Physbones; Built-In Shaders; Custom Scripting Languages like Udon, CV2, etc; Platform specific compo
