@Theraot thanks for the comments on the pitch!
Jun 20, 2017 06:44
I'm going to sleep now. Thank you once again!
Jun 20, 2017 06:44
@Theraot sent.
Jun 20, 2017 06:42
@Theraot just let me know your thoughts on it :D
Jun 20, 2017 06:41
@Theraot got it. Thanks. Sending it now
Jun 20, 2017 06:37
I'd rather the pitch not be public
Jun 20, 2017 06:37
@Theraot do you have an e-mail I can send it to?
Jun 20, 2017 06:35
@Theraot I have a pitch for teachers if you'd like to see it
Jun 20, 2017 06:32
I believe this method will improve the way people learn as much as one can believe in something. As you are a learner of multiple languages, I thought you may like to work on something that can really change the way people learn.
Jun 20, 2017 06:31
@Theraot I appreciate your honesty.
Jun 20, 2017 06:26
But, starting with this question (if all those other questions are answered): is this something you'd be interested in?
Jun 20, 2017 06:25
Of course.
Jun 20, 2017 06:18
I wish we could work on this together
Jun 20, 2017 06:18
@Theraot Oh man, you're really helpful with your organization
Jun 20, 2017 06:08
First is get a clear goal of what teachers will need. What I'm getting stuck on is: I'm afraid students will just play through the game (as one should) and skip ahead and the game won't be in line with the teacher's curriculum
Jun 20, 2017 06:07
@Theraot so I'm confused on priority of events.
Jun 20, 2017 06:04
@Theraot so the next step is to get a full picture of what exactly a teacher would need
Jun 20, 2017 06:02
but do not have the full picture
Jun 20, 2017 06:02
@Theraot I talked with them roughly
Jun 20, 2017 06:01
rough estimate
Jun 20, 2017 06:01
    - Game designer: $70k / yr
    - Game developer: $80k / yr
    - Language teacher: $50k / yr
    - Me: $80k / yr
    - Total: $280k
    - Monthly: $23k monthly burn
Jun 20, 2017 06:01
Both fully work on this and hire
Jun 20, 2017 05:36
@Theraot So, after some more consideration of what I need to accomplish... I think I really need funding now
Jun 18, 2017 07:31
@Theraot 1:30AM here. Going to sleep. Would love to keep discussing this with you. I work on this game every day
Jun 18, 2017 07:27
@Theraot I'm playing Ocarina of Time now and Chrono Trigger for some more ideas
Jun 18, 2017 07:22
I think reversing modules that already exist is a great way to double the amount of content
Jun 18, 2017 07:13
that could be great
Jun 18, 2017 07:13
the rewards could be in game, which could be somehow connected to a teacher's actual physical reward
Jun 18, 2017 07:07
@Theraot I can totally see having a Mario World-esque screen where they can go back and play certain quests/levels again
Jun 18, 2017 07:07
this is really great!
Jun 18, 2017 07:04
wow this is great
Jun 18, 2017 07:00
@Theraot these quest design videos from EC are great!
Jun 18, 2017 06:58
okay
Jun 18, 2017 06:56
The idea is to more or less have a RPG with language seamlessly tied in as simply a tool to complete normal/everyday RPG quests
Jun 18, 2017 06:56
do you know what I mean?
Jun 18, 2017 06:56
@Theraot the issue with rap battles and tasks/activities that use the language overtly in the activity is that it makes the fact that it's a learning game too overt
Jun 18, 2017 06:55
that looks neat
Jun 18, 2017 06:51
or to defeat a minion requires the right combination of attacks
Jun 18, 2017 06:51
where a minion will have weakness of "fire" (fuego), so you need to equip fuego to defeat it
Jun 18, 2017 06:50
enemy battling will be Rock Paper Scissors
Jun 18, 2017 06:50
and battle enemies
Jun 18, 2017 06:50
stuff like that will be common modules
Jun 18, 2017 06:50
And to build the game quickly, I'll basically be reusing common modules to teach: puzzles, search and rescue, build this thing, navigate to x, order food from y, and converse with NPC
Jun 18, 2017 06:48
yes, Myst does this quite well
Jun 18, 2017 06:46
Playtesting i guess will tell
Jun 18, 2017 06:46
But are these things "fun"? Who knows
Jun 18, 2017 06:46
then putting the objects together to build a thing requires construction of meaningful phrases, such as "put x on y to make z work" (obviously, this would be in the target language)
Jun 18, 2017 06:45
Because building things forces you to know object vocab
Jun 18, 2017 06:45
A cross between Minecraft and Scribblenauts
Jun 18, 2017 06:44
Another thought I had was Building Items
