Right, so you know the file extension and get a multiple choice on operating system, which could run on a pretty wide variety of x86 compatible processors (OS/2 was released for 80286, 80386, and 80486, Windows is 80286+, and DOS is 8086+)

My point with 1 - Identifying the files would instantly tell you the other things you want to know. 2 - So, you don't know what operating system they run on. 3 - "no, thank god." - isn't this exactly the information you're asking for?

@TomasBy - I think your question probably needs to be more specific. To me, the question reads like this - "I have random executable files that I don't know what are that I want to know how to run." The problems I see are: 1. You don't know what the files are. 2. You don't know what operating system they run on. 3. You don't know what architecture their respective operating system requires. The question is akin to asking how to perform a complex surgery without knowing the species or any details about the operation required (surgery on a squirrel is very different than an on a giraffe).

yeah, it's a little generic, but that's just what people generally accept as a hot plate. We are really bad at abusing our own language (then complaining when foreigners don't know the words)
Feb 11, 2014 20:23
"hot plate"
Feb 11, 2014 20:22
ok, anyway... so I am working essentially on the same product, still programming, but I'm working on the billing part of the suite instead of the rating piece
Feb 11, 2014 20:21
that is so not a word that ANYONE uses in modern English...
Feb 11, 2014 20:21
ok... I did a "define:hob" search... "a flat metal shelf at the side or back of a fireplace, having its surface level with the top of the grate and used esp. for heating pans."
Feb 11, 2014 20:19
I caught that, but like... what is it?
Feb 11, 2014 20:18
so much is lost in translation... what exactly is a "kookplaat" seems like maybe a microwave or something, but Google translates it to "hob"
