I'm a total newb when it comes to Linux, what unnecessary kernel packages are you talking about, I'm not sure what you mean here, I know I added extra programs like Dolphin file manager, TOR, Brave browser, VLC, PeaZip, and some others, is this what you mean by unnecessary kernel packages? Can you please explain to me exactly what you mean?

@user535733 Hey come back here and read the post again as I made another edit, I included more information. This update broke my computer, I wasn't experimenting with anything, I'm a total novice when it comes to Linux. I'm telling you this weird 1GB update that I just got out of the blue broke my computer.

@guiverc "but you've opted to not use a supported kernel" I promise you I haven't opted to do anything, the computer prompted me and told me that an update was available, and it was just under a gigabyte as I remember, so I said sure go ahead and update. I didn't change anything or opt for anything, I just simply said sure go ahead and update. This thing is bugged.

I really want the Ubuntu experts to see this post, I want to hear what the experts have to say about what happened to me. Yes I had a 1GB update and it broke my computer. I'm not a computer expert at all and I just want some feedback. Honestly I can't believe this even happened to me, it's very frustrating. I never would have thought that a simple update would break my machine, something like this never happened to me on Windows.

@mook765 This literally happened to me. They were saying "It's impossible to have a 1GB update" but that's what happened to me, and I want to get feedback about this from the experts here. Please don't close this!!!! My computer is literally broken now from a 1GB update. I'd like some feedback from the community is all. And yes this really happened.

@waltinator I appreciate the help but I've had enough for today so I'm going to continue with this tomorrow. I'll let you know if it works though.

@Nmath Hey disregard that new question I had for you because it seems a mod must have already fixed it for me, I'm assuming a mod saw it and then went and fixed it, it was a little bug with the syntax <pre><code></code></pre> that's the syntax I use for displaying the output of the terminal commands, there was a bug with it but it appears the mods saw it and fixed it already. So disregard that.

@waltinator hey disregard the whole "picture of text" thing it seems one of the mods here saw it and already fixed it because it appears to be working, I deleted the picture of the text. It's hard to explain but it seems a mod must have seen it and fixed the problem and then even deleted my text of my asking the question. No joke it seems a mod fixed it and then deleted the part where I was describing the problem lol, I'm being totally serious too. So all you saw was the picture without the paragraph where I described the problem and asked for a solution which confused you.

@Nmath that new question I want you to look at does pertain to this directly so please read it carefully and answer me, you'll see that it does indeed have relevance to what we're talking about. So yes my computer is in a different room but I have an app on my smartphone that can check the wifi strength and the wifi strength is good where my PC is located I checked. I will check the ethernet connection speed tomorrow and get back to you.

@chili555 take a look at the bottom of my post I added another question, I'm really confused on that one you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm using askubuntu.com on firefox on ubuntu 20.04 and I swear that is the one part I could not figure out how to do properly, I feel like askubuntu needs to explain things better.
