@M-- If you have concerns about a specific user, you can always send in a ticket to community support. Just detail out your specific concerns, especially about why the user's PII access is a concern. Input about mods, mod permissions, and elections is always welcome and my team does discuss concerns that are raised.

For the moment... let's remember that the election dates and timing are all things that have come into place in the last month, people have vacations planned much longer in advance, and real life stuff happens too. It's only been 4 days since "last seen" and 2 days since the election ended. I def understand the concern (especially around lack of any communication).
Jun 20 16:04
@MurtuzaZabuawala Noted, and I am checking with my colleagues to see if we have any precedent to refer to (e.g. "if the election winner has not replied in X days..."). I will update you here today if I have an update. I am out of the office next week so one of my colleagues will step in next week if needed.

For these reasons, we'd usually look site mods -- familiar with the topic, norms of the community, and the members of the community -- to determine whether something might rise to the level of a CoC violation. To be clear, I am not looking to evaluate that specific instance, so please don't provide more details :) And I recognize that there's the x-factor of this being about a nominee in a mod election. It's a tough situation.

@cocomac My thoughts are that there's some subjective logic there to equate "validating a bad answer during review" with a CoC violation. Which doesn't mean it's incorrect, but (like most things) it really depends on the situation, and the details. How bad was the answer, or how likely was it that it was spam? What was the perceived (and actual) intent of the reviewer? Is it a pattern or was it a one-off thing?

@FranckDernoncourt Yes, it was from Dec 17.

@FranckDernoncourt I can confirm that there is an Answer Bot answer on that question, visible only to the site's mods. I see on your question that Jeremy did some digging and more or less confirmed that as well, but wanted to follow up here.

Well said!
May 28, 2024 19:23
@Willeke We require that elections be competitive, so technically the election is "canceled" if there is no other nominee at the end of the extension week
May 28, 2024 17:29
@Willeke Yes, the current nomination phase will be extended
May 28, 2024 17:19
Hello! With only one candidate, the election will be automatically extended for another week (unless someone happens to declare themselves in the next few hours).

This general discussion chat room gets frozen for inactivity pretty frequently, and has the feed when it's not frozen. Now is a great time to start a convo about how the community might better leverage this chat room.

@Laurel I do wish I had better news for you about this. Or alternatives to suggest. Will any other browsers work? SeaMonkey maybe?
Mar 1, 2024 21:39
How have things been for you these past few weeks? I know you were coming up against this on both mobile and desktop/laptop.
Mar 1, 2024 21:38
Hi @Laurel. I am sorry to let you know that we will be status-declining the Safari 16 bug report, since 16 is no longer supported. I just heard back about that today. The team did assess usage numbers. But they ultimately determined that we are not able to extend support to 16.
Feb 16, 2024 23:46
The detailed investigation you did is really appreciated, and will hopefully be to your ultimate benefit. Have a good weekend!
Feb 16, 2024 23:22
I've noted that in my bug report, and the dev also commented that we do declare support for the last two stable versions of browsers. So this may be something that gets addressed, especially given the recency of the change that is the apparent cause. But I can't promise anything, not today at least
Feb 16, 2024 22:01
Ah, I see you updated the post and noted the specific change
Feb 16, 2024 21:59
I'll let you know how things go about this, and I won't update the Meta post status until I get a clear answer. But I suspect this may be a version support thing and so won't get a fix. But this is pretty severe, and seems like it was a very recent update that did this, so perhaps there is something to be done.
Feb 16, 2024 21:54
I held on to my original iPhone SE for a long time as well. And then got the newer SE. I do like the small size.
Feb 16, 2024 21:42
Ah, so it looks like we do not support 16 any longer.
Feb 16, 2024 21:41
I think sometimes you can get the newer version of Safari in the app store even if the OS update isn't possible on the machine. That might be one option for the Mac anyway.
Feb 16, 2024 21:39
It's 10pm his time so I don't think I will hear back today
Feb 16, 2024 21:38
Everything I have is using Safari 17 so that would explain my inability to reproduce. I asked the dev to take another look at your post, and asked if we dropped support for Safari 16 or something along those lines that would explain this.
Feb 16, 2024 21:29
I assume you've cleared cache and all that? When was the last time things on Mac Safari worked fine?
Feb 16, 2024 21:28
I do appreciate that you see it on two iPhones, and now your Mac. And on different networks.
Feb 16, 2024 21:27
I'm still not seeing it myself though, on iPhone or Mac.
Feb 16, 2024 21:26
That's what I imagined from your description. And the error codes are helpful to note.
Feb 16, 2024 21:05
Can you get one on the iPhone and email it?
Feb 16, 2024 21:05
A screen shot would be good, if you can get one to me one way or another
Feb 16, 2024 21:00
I just tested on Mac Safari and I don't see any issues there either. I was able to review the question and it's ready to post. No weirdness on the editor toolbar or text display
Feb 16, 2024 20:57
Oh you see it on Mac Safari too?
Feb 16, 2024 20:57
Do you have any Safari extensions running on both devices?
Feb 16, 2024 20:51
Do you see it when not in incognito?
Feb 16, 2024 20:51
Even in incognito and logged out, I'm not seeing any issues. I could have posted the question on English SE
Feb 16, 2024 20:43
It didn't seem like anyone else in the chats yesterday was seeing it, so I wonder if the issue is specific to you?
Feb 16, 2024 20:40
This is with a non-staff account
Feb 16, 2024 20:39
I'm trying to reproduce the issue on iOS Safari and so far I am not able to
