@CarlLange. My upcoming upgrade will be to 10.13.6. I see that I have managed to procrastinate long enough to skip 10.13.5. I won't change over to 10.14 until I think it has stabilized. Probably will wait until 10.16.2 at least.
Sep 7, 2018 06:41
@CarlLange. My coming upgrade will be to 10.13.6. I see that I have procra
Sep 7, 2018 01:35
@CarlLange. That is good news and thank you very much for making the effort. I'm still on OS X 10.13.4, so I am using Safari 11.1, but I expect to upgrade to 10.13.5 shortly, which I presume will install Safari 12, and I will need the new extension because I use halirutan's button quite a lot.
Sep 6, 2018 17:40
@ChrisK. That's bad news. Do you know of any way to install @halirutan 's javascript without Ninjakit in Safari 12?
Sep 5, 2018 23:10
@halirutan @CarlLange Thanks to both of you for your quick work in fixing the problem. I have installed v,1.4.2 into Ninjakit on Safari 11.1 and all functionality seems to have been restored.
Sep 4, 2018 22:51
@halirutan. Sorry to bother you, but am having problems with your editor buttons javascript. The buttons appear in the editor toolbar, the tooltips work, but clicking on any button produces no action. Any advice?
Aug 27, 2018 14:27
@halirutan. Hilarious, but not just programming books. That style is rampant in all technical writing.
May 29, 2018 16:08
@Szabolcs. If you need a weak but real reason to help you make a choice, consider that halirutan and Henrik are both more time-zone compatible with Kuba than I am. Living in the US's eastern time zone, I about six hours behind central european time.
May 29, 2018 15:58
@Szabolcs. Toss a coin. I mean a simulated three-sided coin, of course :-)
May 27, 2018 16:48
@philmcole. Didn't know about it because I have never used that chat room.
May 27, 2018 16:44
@halirutan. Thanks for posting about MathJax. I didn't know about your "easy way". I have now made such a bookmark and it seems to work. For example, $\sqrt{x^2+y^2}\,\sin(\frac{x}{y})$
May 26, 2018 15:35
@Kuba Granted. I was just remarking about how much I have slowed down over the years.
May 25, 2018 21:44
@Kuba, @Mr.Wizard. I would probably need to put in more time than you two do because at my advanced age I have slowed down quite a lot. Everything is slower: reading, typing, and most troubling, thinking. I might be down close to 50% of the speed I had in those activities 30 or 40 years ago.
May 25, 2018 13:55
@Kuba. I am thinking about becoming a candidate for moderator. However, I don't think I can put more than three hours a day into the job, and some days not even that much. Is that enough time to be a useful assistant to you?
May 25, 2018 13:46
@halirutan. I have become very much dependent on your buttons, so thanks for making the new version available so quickly.
May 25, 2018 13:34
@halirutan. I have installed version 1.4.1 into my Safari NinjaKit extension and tested it. All seems good now.
May 24, 2018 17:07
@halirutan. I downloaded version 1.3.8 of Mathematica Toolbar Buttons and installed it into NinjaKit. Everything works except the Ref button. The button appears but is inactive. (No pointing finger icon or tooltip on mouseover). I am running Safari 11.1 on macOS 10.13.4. Any advice on restoring the function of the Ref button?
May 22, 2018 13:06
OK, I see the actual election doesn't start until June 6th. I not sure what stated yesterday.
May 22, 2018 13:01
So the election started yesterday with no candidates. How does it proceed under that condition?
May 22, 2018 12:44
So we are adding a 5th moderator. @Kuba: do you feel that you need another moderator to help you?
May 22, 2018 12:31
As to the moderator election, which one of the current moderators is stepping down? Or are we adding a 5th moderator?
Apr 1, 2018 02:30
@halirutan. I'm usually up at 2:30 AM (I'm even older than you), but lately I have been having so much trouble with this site that I have not been visiting it much. What did you want to talk to me about?
Jan 5, 2018 05:51
@eyorble @JackLaVigne I have come to the conclusion that my question mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/162935/… is poorly posed. I will delete it in a day or two. I want to thank you two for the effort you put into attempting to answer it. I am very sorry that I caused you to waste valuable time on a bad question. If I can find a way to formulate it clearly, I will post a new question on this issue,

@xzczd. I really do not like that kind of debugging tool. I never liked gcb and I don't like any debugger that tries to emulate it. I find using Dynamic code allows me to build project specific debugging tools let me debug much faster than I could with a gcb-like general purpose debugger.
Jan 11, 2017 02:50
Gonna leave now. Dinner time.
Jan 11, 2017 02:48
@Nasser. Output in my style sheet looks pretty much like it does in the Default style sheet. I can't remember making any changes to the Output style.
Jan 11, 2017 02:46
@Nasser. I used to do that. Now, during development I seed my code with global variables that I can spy on with Dynamic. When thing settle done, I localize or otherwise eliminate those variables.
Jan 11, 2017 02:41
@Nasser. You can see from the screen image of one my notebooks that I also like Dynamic for debugging.
Jan 11, 2017 02:38
Jan 11, 2017 02:31
@Nasser. Well, I like it :-)
Jan 11, 2017 02:28
@Nasser. I use a private style sheet that I have developed over the years. My input style puts a frame around all input to make it stand out.
Jan 11, 2017 02:12
@Nasser. Yeah. There seems to be a lot that kind post recently. And it's a shame that so many beginners don't realize the one of major virtues of Mathematica is that the user can see results and do tests on line-by-line basis. Can you or anyone else reading this message think of any way to encourage beginners to use be more interactive in their approach to code development?

To get a question off the unanswered list, will someone please up-vote this community wiki answer: mathematica.stackexchange.com/a/131780/3066
Jul 15, 2016 04:24
@Mr.Wizard. I just wanted to be sure it got to you. Take whatever time you need to answer. I am quite happy to put off the job as long as I can :-)
Jul 14, 2016 21:26
@Mr.Wizard. I am waiting for an answer to the email I sent you before proceeding on the edit you proposed. Did you receive the email? I don't want to put pressure on you, but you should know that I will not begin the task until I get your response to the issues I raised.
May 16, 2016 13:57
I installed Version 1.3.8 (I had 1.3.6) and the buttons have returned. All is well now (I think).
May 16, 2016 00:48
harlirutan's additional editing buttons no longer appear when I try to edit posts. Is it just my system or are others having this problem as well? I am running on OS X, but have made no system changes for a long time. First noticed the problem yesterday.

@SjoerdC.deVries. It's gone. Deleted by a moderator between my post and yours.

Anybody standing watch on the moderator deck? We've spam on the site for about 8 hours now.
Oct 17, 2015 00:17
@halirutan. @xslittlegrass. I received an email saying V10.3 is available for me to download it now.
Oct 13, 2015 10:23
@halirutan. Thanks a lot.
Oct 13, 2015 10:22
People, I am looking for one last re-open vote for this question. I want to get it re-opened so I can write a community wiki answer for it. See the last few comments to the question to see why.
Sep 26, 2015 22:48
@Pickett. Thanks, I appreciate your action.
Sep 26, 2015 22:44
Can I get some help in re-opening this question. It doesn't involve epicycloids, and I have an answer I want to post that proves it.
Aug 26, 2015 23:02
@halirutan. Tried your code and some variations on it. Don't know what's going on, but it looks a bug to me. Or maybe the upper whisker is afraid of the outlier.
Aug 26, 2015 22:51
@belisarius I thought Shirley had passed away.
Aug 26, 2015 22:45
@belisarius. I thought you were in Argentina, not Nigeria
Aug 26, 2015 22:43
@belisarius. You take MasterCard?
Aug 26, 2015 22:27
@Guesswhoitis. or anyone, please help me reopen this question -- I have an answer I want to post.

Thanks to both candidates for running and congratulations to Kuba for winning.
