@DMGregory BALATRO

Like you could ask someone what's their pain point they could say "I'm having trouble with network code". And you find out it's for a 2d networked fighting game with full rollback. The problem isn't network code... it's making too big a game as your first time out.
Mar 11 03:25
I don't know if beginners really know their pain points.
Mar 10 15:45
@3pic1namie6 I'm not sure aspiring developers are the ones who know what kind of help they need.
Feb 24 04:16
@DMGregory yeah, totally
Feb 24 04:16

Personally I'd skip totk, but I'm not a Nintendo fan.
Feb 6 15:28
don't let the guitar hero type layout fool you; it's still got that tactical flavor to it.
Feb 6 15:28
Rift of the Necrodancer is out, and it's good.
Jan 28 20:46
@Zibelas though google is becoming more and more unreliable.
Jan 28 20:46
@DMGregory true
Jan 24 03:01
@DMGregory hahah yeah great point.
Jan 23 19:05
Do you guys think SE is doomed? SO's traffic is dropping precipitously with the advent of LLMs.
Nov 22, 2024 02:21
haha yeah
Nov 18, 2024 04:18
Is it engine-specific?
Nov 18, 2024 04:18
hmm
Nov 17, 2024 16:40
or maybe in the snippet box or something
Nov 17, 2024 16:40
No clue. Wouldn't surprise me if it would be like mathjax; someone at SE could add it to the gamedev.se headers.
Oct 31, 2024 15:03
will definitely keep you guys posted as soon as I can
Oct 31, 2024 15:03
thanks :)
Oct 31, 2024 14:58
@Pikalek I can't talk about it. :D I'll be doing Senior Game Designer work. Will tell you guys more once the project is announced, and I've been there long enough to have some idea what's ok to talk about. :D
Oct 30, 2024 02:27

Oct 24, 2024 20:25
I mean who uses Haskell.
Oct 24, 2024 20:24
that's really weird.
Oct 23, 2024 17:53
It's unlikely there's a "best" one. There are many, and some will work for you and your learning style.
Oct 17, 2024 14:11
Coroutines are so strange. They don't do what you expect, until you understand them, then they are terribly useful.
Oct 16, 2024 23:41
at least make them passive since you still need the materials
Oct 16, 2024 23:40
turns out you can turn off the monsters
Oct 16, 2024 19:09
And I'm not joking. I don't think anything else this year even comes close.

There are plenty of games that cost way more to make, and these both look and sound great. But for just being a great game, this can't be beat.

The way I describe it to people who are intimidated: "Well, it starts out really easy. Just bash this and get some iron, make some ingots, make some plates, etc. Oh you need 100 plates, but you can make this constructor. Now you ferry iron ore into and pick up the ingots by hand. Then you get conveyor belts. Next thing you know, you look behind you and there's this massive

Satisfactory for GOTY

Sep 21, 2024 03:59
They're not all necessarily like this, but a lot are.
Sep 21, 2024 03:58
I need 100, that's annoying. So I buy 100. Now I need 1000, and it's 1000 minutes.
Sep 21, 2024 03:58
ok
Sep 21, 2024 03:58
I need 10 that's 10 minutes.
Sep 21, 2024 03:58
so you need 1, ok that's 1 minute
