Leaflet for animal counts

Using leaflet for the counting of anything in images

Thanks both for updates and comments to the document. It's getting there. Will contact my colleagues and distribute a copy of the doc for possibly further processing. @til_b - how many hours would you think producing a system like this would take? I know the specifications are not quite perfect yet, so this is more like a ballpark figure thing.

Example looks like something which could work - with some polishing on the user interface. Automation of image sources as well as option to send/store data.

Can you establish a shared doc for us to work on? We might also invite @til_b to add comments if he finds he is able to do this?

Good if you can check this out. Perhaps I and Simbamangu in any case should start writing a requirement/specifications document. How would that sound @Simbamangu ?
Oct 14, 2020 11:58
@til_b Not much to do about that. Do you know someone which can do similar work given a clear requirement?

(we = Norwegian Environment Agency")

We might even have some funding to do work on this from our side. As long as it is not a big venture.

We could later be able to calculate the covered area or similar from the image metadata.
Oct 14, 2020 11:42
A simplified version could be to do one picture at a time using the exif gps position as the geographic reference. Keeping it simple.

Laptop would work fine. Field operators have a lot of spare time in the evenings, so it would be great if they could do this after a day in the field.
Oct 14, 2020 11:39
The operators might not be aware of the further processing of the recorded data (# of species and position)
Oct 14, 2020 11:39
Although some people will have overview of such a process the workflow might be left to operators which only has acccess to smartphones.

I have aerial imagery produced using a drone. In my case the images have been processed and are presented as decently georeferenced to geotiffs. I would like to make the products freely available. Are there any services online which could be used?

My question was admittedly broad. But my quest remains - I want to know if someone knows about standards or systems which can do this. I should probably point this out more specifically. Any ideas of how to tune this question towards this end are most welcome.

The question started with the head of recreational management at the Norwegian Environment Agency came to my office suggesting we store hiking activities in OpenStreetMap. It did not immediately, after a while or even now strike me as a superb idea. But his intentions are good. He wants to establish a data flow for information about pedestrian use of trails. He also knows that establishing a fully fledged data management system is abig and expensive thing.
