@Mitra The term "item" was initially used to objectify woman who dances.But male can also become a part as a item -boy .Well, keeping aside that subject, I can say the film industry has produced handful of decent dance numbers, like if I am taking , the song Dola re dola , bumro bumro , bole chudiyan , etc can categorize as modified cultural songs.

@Bhavay I was sure that you do a wikipedia search and copy paste lines like such those mentioned in it.But my studies revealed that all those mentioned things are not true in all cases nor the any of the songs posted which I can categorize as item numbers were not disturbing or either singer/dancers are professionally good at their own.

Well, I uses to listen a vast variety of songs,let's say before this chatroom was created, I was much into fusion and western genres.So for me everything go in hand regardless of various genres, because I see the art behind it.As far as my interactions over here, @Rakeshjoshi introduced a lot of various genres of music here.So I could learn a lot about Indian film genres.Though from cultural, something which can match upto this item number concept , I can say is Lavani :
