@sphennings i do try to answer most of the questions i come up with myself, but sometimes there's something where i just can't figure out a why
Aug 9, 2024 00:45
@JBH the nature of a best answer in this case is something that would allow the world to remain similar to our own in most other respects. The base civilization is close enough to earth that it can be mostly treated like earth.
Aug 9, 2024 00:45
@GaultDrakkor they should be realistically economically feasible
Aug 9, 2024 00:45
@SurpriseDog "Large jet airliners cannot just be made to simply not exist. Ocean liners should coexist with them. Both should be accessible options for those with the money for international travel."
Aug 9, 2024 00:45
@Antares they can be downgraded but they can't be gotten rid of

Aug 2, 2024 19:32
@RonJohn I more meant anglo-german naval arms race military spending not soviet leve spending
Aug 2, 2024 19:32
@Xavon_Wrentaileit's i meant population, people
Aug 2, 2024 19:32
The problem is that i really can't tell. They're fighting eachother. As countries like what i'm talking about didn't really exist in this period irl i don't really know what they've got or what they're fighting against because it's entirely hypothetical.
Aug 2, 2024 19:31
@user111403 I guess that makes sense, although i was thinking that they would import things like guns and armour plate and build what they can in their own primarily civilian shipyards.
Aug 2, 2024 19:31
@user111403 unlike most smaller nations around this period these island nations are actually about as industrialized as a country could be in this era. They're still limited by their size but the ones on the higher end 500-600k to one million mark do have moderately sized shipyards. Also most of those countries kind of just, don't have navies around this time because they don't expect to be fighting wars or expect to fight wars where they'd have no hope of mustering a navy comparable to their opponent.
Aug 2, 2024 19:31
@KerrAvon2055 The primary concern of these navies is a varies between full scale conquest and taking over portions of each other. Although only smaller scale skirmishes actually happen they are still worried about the potential of full scale war. I'll ad it to the body of the question.

coal was essential to the industrial revolution happening in the first place. The reason early steam engines were developed to the point they were efficient enough it was cost effective to haul fuel overland for them before railways was due to their development for coal mines. Because coal mines were directly on top of the fuel they didn't have to worry about the absolutely extreme cost of overland transportation pre-railway. Without coal mines they wouldn't have bothered making them more effecient.

There wouldn't be much in the way of casualties. There are only 31 or so semi conductor manufacturers, 12 of those largely insignificant, only 3 of those are leading edge, & only 1 company makes EUV lithography equipment.

The universe will be torn apart the moment someone applies it to something not already true

May 20, 2023 03:41
how would you even make sure they were in a school though

Jan 20, 2023 15:21
@AlexP true but it's 99% supposed to be a point of national pride, the idea of having a dinosaur park when no one else does being a big thing for that, although i might change it to being a government backed project funded mostly by private investors thinking about it
Jan 20, 2023 15:21
@AlexP i said 1910s tho, i meant early 1900s as in the early part of the 20th century not the decade 1900

Aug 17, 2021 14:26
@john then then break all the ̷m̷c̷ ̷w̷i̷n̷d̷o̷w̷s̷ sensors, they're only protected by some glass at best
Aug 17, 2021 14:26
@John if you can get on top then break all the ̷m̷c̷ ̷w̷i̷n̷d̷o̷w̷s̷ sensors or break open a hatch & get in that tank is going to be dealt with.
Aug 17, 2021 14:26
@ARogueAnt. if you can get on top then break all the ̷m̷c̷ ̷w̷i̷n̷d̷o̷w̷s̷ sensors or break open a hatch & get in that tank is going to be dealt with.
Aug 17, 2021 14:26
@ARogueAnt. >It can be multiple different species working together, it doesn't have to just be one creature.
Aug 17, 2021 14:26
@JoinJBHonCodidact i just want something to live in caves & is able to cause serious pain in the assery to developed nations. It doesn't need to be able to cause collapse, just be a threat
Aug 17, 2021 14:26
@AlexP >:(⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Aug 9, 2021 15:11
@Alexander Do those 45000 paratroopers have all their units able to move themselves by planes the unit has that aren't attached from a different place?
Aug 9, 2021 15:11
@AlexP The ability to get EVERYTHING moved by helicopter makes it so that you can do maneuver at helicopter speeds the whole time rather than just the assault part
Aug 9, 2021 15:11
The ability to get EVERYTHING moved by helicopter makes it so that you can do maneuver at helicopter speeds the whole time rather than just the assault part
Aug 9, 2021 15:11
@AlexP neither of them have several divisions of units that can move themselves entirely by helicopter with only the helicopters the unit has
Aug 9, 2021 15:11
@Burki i don't know why you'd think that. None of have my questions have been about one specific thing replacing everything else. They have been about doing something new & weird that isn't done now alongside normal things.
Aug 9, 2021 15:11
@Alexander the wiesel like tracked weapons carriers & light trucks are to move around the heavier weapons. If they need more they can rely on other units to provide it
Aug 9, 2021 15:11
@Alexander They have a few things like ATVs, Motorcycles & light trucks. As well as some Wiesel like tracked weapons carriers. But they are mostly just there for recon & carrying things.

Aug 1, 2021 19:01
It doesn't have to replace armoured cavalry, it just has to exist as a thing.

Jun 5, 2021 03:04
@trioxidane Yes but there expensive & rare, with most of the production going to micrometeorite protection for small spacecraft but they are small enough to be carried by a person.
