Anyone can copy code from this link? https://reference.wolfram.com/language/example/UseGeometricTransformationsToCreateAKaleidoscope.html

Iam getting some text instead of code in clipboard when clicking code.
Sep 23, 2018 21:20
@halirutan I understand thank you.
Sep 23, 2018 21:18
@halirutan How to make NestWhile so that it stops when g[] returns 10?
Sep 23, 2018 21:16
@halirutan sorry this:
In[39]:= g[x_] := y = x + 1

In[40]:= NestWhile[g, 1, y == 10]

Out[40]= 1
Sep 23, 2018 21:16
@halirutan
Sep 23, 2018 21:15
@halirutan What about :
In[37]:= g[x_]:= y==x+1
In[38]:= NestWhile[g, 1, y==10]
Why it returns:
Out[38]= 1
Sep 23, 2018 21:06
Why this does not returns 11?
In[35]:= g[x_]:=x+1
In[36]:= NestWhile[g, 1, 10]

@Kuba Nice link. Thank you :)
Sep 23, 2018 17:51
@HenrikSchumacher thanks.
Sep 23, 2018 15:57
If Mathematica does not know of any symbol it colors it blue.
If Mathematica sees any syntactic error it colors it red.
1. Is the all above true?
2. Any other coloring that is useful to know?
Sep 21, 2018 17:31
@Szabolcs no problem. Thanks again for help :)
Sep 21, 2018 17:26
@Szabolcs Nice link with definitely read it.
Also is there any good tutorial about On/Off beside ref/On[] ref/Off ?
Sep 21, 2018 17:20
@Szabolcs
Thank you :) Also that On[]/Off[] thing is great! I tryed it in notebook and it freazes for some time but that is not proble. Output of it is really helpful :)
Sep 21, 2018 17:09
@Szabolcs
So, as I understand:
with ->
1. evaluate rhs.
2. use rule as many time as needed with already evaluated rhs.

with:>
1. use rule as many time as needed.
2. evaluate result of the rule.

Is it correct?
Sep 21, 2018 17:00
@Szabolcs What about:
In[14]:= {x, x, x, x} /. x :> RandomInteger[{0, 100}]
Out[14]= {9, 39, 63, 26}

Here RandomInteger is evaluated each time for each replacement.
Sep 21, 2018 16:46
also in both examples, rhs is evaluated before the rule is used?
Sep 21, 2018 16:45
I am trying to understand rules. Here is text from official docs that is modified by me for clarity. Is it right?
lhs->rhs immediate rule or Rule[]: rhs is evaluated only once when the rule is first given.
lhs:>rhs delayed rule or RuleDelayed[]: rhs is evaluated each time when the rule is used
Sep 21, 2018 12:43
@Kuba Very good explanation. I understand it now. Thank you :)
Sep 21, 2018 12:40
@Kuba Replace all elements with w that are less than 0?
Maybe patt/;test means IF the patt is true THEN also test same patt with test AND if is true too that patter is matchecd?
Sep 21, 2018 12:36
@Kuba Yes, I read that. But have not understood it well. I cannot understand well and truing to understand it now what exactly /; means and how to use it.
Sep 21, 2018 12:33
@Kuba Why x = True - 1 ? Does {x_} /; x + 1 means that IF there is an element in list THEN reffer to it as x and THEN make x+1 ?
Sep 21, 2018 12:25
@Kuba also can we write {x_} /; x + 1 ?
Sep 21, 2018 12:24
@Kuba So that means IF pattern {x_} matches THEN do x<0 ?
Sep 21, 2018 12:16
Here patt/;test what is done first? patt is matched and if it is matched test is evaluated OR test is evaluated and if it is true patt will be matched?
Sep 19, 2018 15:33
@halirutan It works. Thank you :)
Sep 19, 2018 15:21
But is there a way to point for notebook directory In the import command without use of SetDirectory["c:\\a\\"] ?
Sep 19, 2018 15:20
Also I found that sig = Import["signal.dat", "List"] works if used with SetDirectory["c:\\a\\"]
Sep 19, 2018 15:17
But this works: sig = Import["c:\\a\\signal.dat", "List"] . How not give full path and point to the same folder as nonebook?
Sep 19, 2018 15:08
I am trying to import from file with sig = Import["signal.dat", "List"] but getting "Import::nffil: File not found during Import.". The notebook is in the same folder as signal.dat. What can be reason for error?
Sep 14, 2018 10:25
@Kuba found a good list of links to undocumented features. mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/805/… It seems many things are undocumented.
Sep 14, 2018 10:13
@Kuba Nice list. It seams that tutorial and book is outdated on that subject.
Sep 14, 2018 10:06
@halirutan Also was not aware that Steven Wolfram was streaming on twitch :) I will watch his videos :)
Sep 14, 2018 10:06
@halirutan yes it shows true on AtomQ :)
Sep 14, 2018 10:04
@halirutan Anything other that was not before also become atomic?
Sep 14, 2018 10:02
@halirutan Are you sure that graphs are atomic? In book and tutorial I read that only numbers, symbols and strings are atomic.
Sep 14, 2018 09:59
@halirutan thank you :)
Sep 14, 2018 09:58
@b3m2a1 here: reference.wolfram.com/language/tutorial/BasicObjects.html is used term "Atomic object". In book "Essentials of Programming in Mathematica" I also found term "Atomic expression".
Sep 14, 2018 09:55
@halirutan Yes, I know that. I am asking about terms. Is the term "atomic expression" same as term "atomic object"?
Sep 14, 2018 09:53
Are the atomic expressions the same as atomic objects?
Sep 9, 2018 17:49
@halirutan Good explanation. Thank you :)
Sep 9, 2018 17:09
@halirutan If List can be represented in full or non full form like: List[1,2,3,4] or {1,2,3,4} then why atomic expressions cannot be represented that way?

@S.Kolassa-ReinstateMonica Today statistics are very strongly tied to statistical software. Finding the appropriate methods/software is part of statistical data analysis. Searching methods/software for particular type of analysis is different than just searching/discussing software. While I understand that it is not place for software discussion in general, I think that discussing and comparing software for solving particular statistical task should be allowed at CV.

Too much strict moderation. I understand that moderators are caring about website and want to keep it as clean as possible but sometimes it is too strics. This is pretty good thread that gave me lots of information: stats.stackexchange.com/questions/24540/… Why it is locked and even without possibility to post comments? At SO there is possible to coment on locked questions.
Oct 14, 2019 21:21
If not, then what is the relationship between Mixture models and Latent variable models?
Oct 14, 2019 20:03
Is the Mixture model just one type of Latent variable model?
Sep 20, 2019 16:36
@whuber I added added second question at the bottom. There are two questions that are very clearly stated. For first question there is clear clearly explained step but step what I am doing. I really do not know how else it can be improved. Maybe lack of extensive statistical knowledge is the reason that I can not understand what exactly you want me to change. But the reason of my question is to get knowledge of statistics.
Sep 20, 2019 15:16
@whuber Some people are not professionals in statistics and need explanation from another perspective in order to understand. I think answering question from different perspectives helps to understand the topic.
Sep 20, 2019 15:14
@gung Can you please give answer in comments? stats.stackexchange.com/questions/427905/…

If I am using Gaussian family with log link after exponentiation of coefficients of regression I am getting Risk Ratios?

What is your opinion about nQuery and PASS 16 for sample size and power calculations? How do you compare them? How is their customer support? Which advantages they have over each other?
