only thing that bugs me is that I am connected to the office network so some things are restricted and its a pain to do some simple things sometimes (even when its for office work!)
just to give a perspective, I had a lennovo s-141 ideapad- an extremely cheap laptop (costed around 42K) it had 1TB SSD and 8GB RAM, intel i5 10th gen. I upgraded it to have additional 256GB SSD and 12 GB RAM (costed 7.5K) , and it did wonders.
I would suggest a laptop with 16 GB RAM, or 12GB (can be done in some laptops which have 4gB integrated into the motherboard and 4GB additional, that additonal 4GB can be replaced by an 8GB stick)
but for placements I had to do a bit of DSA bcs ML companies also ask some DSA qs sometimes. so I grinded leetcode for a couple months in my 7th semester
honestly its good that youre not in the CP and CS rat race. People who had their heart set on core electronics actually had a great placement season, bcs they benefitted from less competition
do projects , maintain a good CGPA, and also try for some research internships. Try and get something published, that will look good on the masters application
