@NautArch The way it happened was not the main question though, I just wanted to know how Vampirism worked in RAW no matter how the RP went.

Just to clarify as another answer stated, a full vampire has to bite to cause this, not a vampire spawn?

oh that would be really cool Someone_Evil! That subclass gets a launcher mechanical gun or backpack attachment or something
Dec 22, 2019 15:42
but i guess that would just fall into the "hey its a game" situation
Dec 22, 2019 15:41
i like that trappings idea, my only hesitation is distance lol. Imagine throwing a bottle 120' accurately
Dec 22, 2019 15:40
i know the mechanic i want is to throw a bottle and the spell is cast from that bottle. I guess I could just do the obvious and you throw to hit as a ranged attack, if its single target it acts as normal, if you throw an AOE spell you aim at a block near someone
Dec 22, 2019 15:37
?
Dec 22, 2019 15:37
trappings
Dec 22, 2019 15:36
i have 4 subclasses for Alchemist in mind, this one was the most complicated mechanics one
Dec 22, 2019 15:36
i dont think that quite fits this, that is still a variation of the Artificer and has mostly elements around that with Alchemy flavor
Dec 22, 2019 15:34
i have not, let me pull it up real quick
Dec 22, 2019 15:34
it would depend on the spell, snollics (however you spell it) snowball is a 5' radius, so the bottle breaking would cast it in that radius
Dec 22, 2019 15:32
what is "splat" in this context?
Dec 22, 2019 15:32
5e
Dec 22, 2019 15:32
yes
Dec 22, 2019 15:32
trying to make it unique to throwing bottles with made magical spells inside (think lightning in a bottle)
Dec 22, 2019 15:31
as in if i throw the bottle to an area, would it just cast the spell at that location only and whatever is in the AOE is hit? Or if its targeted, it hits the closest creature to it? I am having trouble figuring that out
Dec 22, 2019 15:30
How would you handle the spell casting mechanic
Dec 22, 2019 15:30
So for an alchemist subclass called Mad Scientist i am thinking it, i want it to be similar to a spellcaster class, maybe Eldritch Knight, but your "prepared spells" are instead created potions/draughts. For instance there could be a potion of fireball, and you throw the bottle to cast the spell
Dec 22, 2019 15:10
having to think about if your guy moves here, they can do these several moves in response, then you think in those terms for 4 or 5 moves ahead within one turn. Its mentally exhausting sometimes lol
Dec 22, 2019 15:09
Yep, you will lose a lot before you figure that out
Dec 22, 2019 15:07
not sure why that question is in the RPG SE lol, but just keep playing against other people/computers and try different methods of attack/defense out until you understand the game. You will lose a lot at first learning new methods
Dec 20, 2019 21:04
much appreciated, have a good evening/weekend
Dec 20, 2019 21:03
gotcha
Dec 20, 2019 21:02
Having the Q&A above will help. Thank you.
Dec 20, 2019 21:01
It just seems odd that im getting comments about that, but other's aren't for the same thing. It's been a few weeks worth of it. I am doing it to begin with based on others NOT being called out for it
Dec 20, 2019 21:00
Thanks you V2Blast for that
Dec 20, 2019 20:59
this stack
Dec 20, 2019 20:59
Had a question removed that was opinion based and saw a question almost exactly the same a few days later
Dec 20, 2019 20:59
I was told to remove a partial answer in the comments, when I see those fairly commonly
Dec 20, 2019 20:49
Moderation on here seems very targeted. I feel like i get comments/flags for things other people are doing that never hear a word about it.
Dec 20, 2019 20:45
Just a question: Permissions are needed on publicly supplied images?
Dec 20, 2019 20:45
NautArch are you here
Nov 4, 2019 18:58
awesome, well i think i got what i needed. Thank you NautArch and everyone else for your input. Much appreciated, have a great rest your day and happy D&Ding!
Nov 4, 2019 18:54
might look at teh forge cleric/ battlemaster option
Nov 4, 2019 18:52
no one within 5' of you is what i plan on going on
Nov 4, 2019 18:52
i like the swashbuckler sneak attack criteria
Nov 4, 2019 18:50
swashbuckler?
Nov 4, 2019 18:49
and how much monk is needed for Kinsei to help
Nov 4, 2019 18:49
depends on how much rogue i need for sneak attacks, fighter has to be 5
Nov 4, 2019 18:48
i mean i could try 3 classes, but at lvl 12 would it be spread too thin
Nov 4, 2019 18:46
w/o magic just focus on using sharpshooter and attacking as many times as possible to use it, so ill tweak the build around that
Nov 4, 2019 18:45
actually i think that answers my question enough to tweak the build
Nov 4, 2019 18:38
dang
Nov 4, 2019 18:37
just the best base build i guess
Nov 4, 2019 18:36
we break up the main campaign with the one shots every now and then when theres a good break
Nov 4, 2019 18:35
its just a one shot, so i will not have those opportunities. However i plan to use him for more One shots in the future
Nov 4, 2019 18:30
distance wouldnt really matter, just however far i can see them id like to pop htem. In combat distance is just hte back of the room
Nov 4, 2019 18:29
no magical items

There is someone at my table that uses one of those dice rolling towers, and for probably 4 sessions straight he rolled 15 pluses for combat encounters. It felt like he never missed once, but then it started evening out. I agree to notate every roll, but it could take several sessions for a balance to be established. Don't notate one session and use that as your basis to approach him until you have more data!
