@JonathanReez That's a great idea! I'll create a script myself, but thanks for the offer! Most of my projects are in fact private so its probably better that way, but thanks
Feb 22 15:51
@Graham I did infact run a project infected by lazarus malware. They are scary so I'm going to be careful
Feb 22 15:51
@Graham genuinly didn't think it was that bad, but you are probably right. Someone writing a little script or AI that seeks out git projects on a dev machine and automatically adds a little script at an unobtrusive spot felt just on the edge of plausible to me.
Feb 22 15:51
Nope, you can simply change the git history. completely remake it from scratch if you wish
Feb 22 15:51
@JosephSible-ReinstateMonica basically if I send a commit to github on february, I can make it look like its from february
Feb 22 15:51
I have to expect all copies of the repo have been tampered with. I don't have aclean rrpo

May 11, 2021 13:49
thanks
May 11, 2021 13:45
since i've done it already
May 11, 2021 13:45
Its probably not even that big of deal
May 11, 2021 13:44
thanks for your help
May 11, 2021 13:44
oh ok
May 11, 2021 13:44
transactions can still be used either way
May 11, 2021 13:44
why would closing out an accounting period need a stored procedure?
May 11, 2021 13:44
I'll probably start rewriting everything tomorrow
May 11, 2021 13:43
not to mention buggy as hell
May 11, 2021 13:43
but that was probably overkill
May 11, 2021 13:43
yeah, so far I was trying to reduce each api call to a single round trip to the database
May 11, 2021 13:39
because doing everything in stored procedure was pain
May 11, 2021 13:38
sort of a hybrid solution between sql and node that still involves a handfull of roundtrips
May 11, 2021 13:38
yeah thats probably how this will go
May 11, 2021 13:37
but thats already almost a stored procedure again
May 11, 2021 13:37
maybe I can try to create a really complex query
May 11, 2021 13:37
since each request is completely independant, I don't think so
May 11, 2021 13:37
serverless just creates and destrys containers as traffic comes in
May 11, 2021 13:36
yeah
May 11, 2021 13:36
since items are handled sequentually
May 11, 2021 13:36
its the distance between the two thats the problem
May 11, 2021 13:36
well I'm not worried about the server or the code being fast enough
May 11, 2021 13:35
each involving 24 items
May 11, 2021 13:35
if things go bad
May 11, 2021 13:35
hard to say since I haven't even made the thing yet, but lets say peak may be 10 a second
May 11, 2021 13:34
just much simpler
May 11, 2021 13:34
like an mmorpg
May 11, 2021 13:34
sort of
May 11, 2021 13:34
trading is very integral to the game
May 11, 2021 13:34
but there may be many transactions a minute, so it may still add up
May 11, 2021 13:33
no just a game
May 11, 2021 13:32
tthats where the problem is. A trade may contain dozens of items on both sides, so for each of those, an owner foreign key may be updated. I could also split the code somewhat, but I think that would make maintainability even worse
May 11, 2021 13:31
@RobertHarvey since the business logic involves loops, it would need a roundtrip on each iteration. So I expect it must impact performance in some way
May 11, 2021 13:31
That may not reflective of actual field performance because of things like autoscaling and the fact that the docker container may be spun up on any machine
May 11, 2021 13:31
This is specific to serverless, where containers may be far apart, so no

Dec 31, 2020 06:28
@Johanna when they work a job they would have gotten without the education and all the acquired knowledge remains unused
Dec 31, 2020 06:28
that is a very good argument for fields that are important but not very well paid that I hadn't considered. But what about majors where a large majority of students don't find a position in the same field, ie are unable to make a career out of?

Oct 16, 2019 21:48
Yeah 100 was too tight. But very nice read

Oct 16, 2019 08:54
It would't matter since task is limited to 100 years. But yes I guess they would. And they just cant bring anything electronical, so up to lightbulbs is fine
Oct 16, 2019 08:54
@user535733 Whats the point in even adding exceptions if nobody ever reads them?
Oct 16, 2019 08:54
Do 10'000 years really make a genetic difference? I thought it was the lack of farming that keep us back
Oct 16, 2019 08:54
Not sure what you mean by socially. Democracy? Capitalism? Because I'm pretty sure these are consequences of technology and education.
Oct 16, 2019 08:54
@AlexP I'm pretty sure there were tribes in germany 10'000 years ago
Oct 16, 2019 08:54
@Treva or is it really that difficult to create a basic battery or flintlock pistol? Because I can see that being dooable in a country full of natural resources like germany
