@NikeDattani Thank you for stepping up and nominating yourself in the first place to make sure we can have an election.

@MarkL.Stone I think if it's edited fast enough (let's say in 1 or max 2 days after the original post), it's fine. But I also dont like it when I see "thanks" being removed from a post from 2020! I've seen posts on other SE sites with them as well. So, not a big deal IMO.

@NikeDattani We have three pro-tem moderators right now and the election seemingly is for three moderators (although I think two is enough too).

Happy anniversary y'all!

@Rob I think at this point, we can wait and see what the community thinks with their votes or even flags!
Apr 23, 2020 13:44
I also add one more piece: use a "disclaimer/N.B" on your post if you like to talk about LocalSolver. I know your name should reveal it but I had seen some flags in the past and this is just a harmless good-to-have IMO.

@LarrySnyder610 @LocalSolver As it stands, I agree with Larry but I think some of the suggestions he made, including this one (that I'm replying to), or this one (chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/54165820#54165820) can make your post better with potentials to revive it.

Congrats Paul, congrats Rob :)

I found this an effective approach as new people join our site. Thanks for doing that TheSimpliFire!

@Rob thanks Rob :) oh, and happy new year to you too!

@Rob facepalm hard! When TheSimpliFire created it, it was surprising for me that as a mod he couldn't approve it so I didn't even check that tab. Thanks for pointing it out. I realized (or at least it seemed) that a different mod could approve. It's done!
Nov 29, 2019 16:01
@Rob I already did and I assume you did too. So, we can encourage a couple of people (like SecretAgentMan and Larry) to vote and we'll be good!
Nov 18, 2019 01:27
@Rob I echo what Larry said and at least I can assure you your response to me was not taken the wrong way at all. Thank you for the answer too!

Hey @Rob, There has been a flag on your answer about the potential issue of copyright under CC-BY-SA 4.0. Although TheSimpliFire noted that the paper quoted is freely available and does not require special access, to avoid any such issues in the future (since it's still copyrighted material anyway) we thought to ask you if you could pare down the quote. Thank you

@TheSimpliFire I have mixed feelings, TBH. On the one hand, asking good questions is not easy! So, if someone does ask good questions, I think they should be rewarded. OTOH, I see your and @Rob point. Especially in our community (that has been very generous in the votes so far, maybe because we are still in infancy), I hope that doesn't stop people from providing well-thought-out answers, rather than just asking super-simple questions!

"We’re changing the reputation earned from getting a question upvote to ten points, making it equal to the reputation earned from an upvote to an answer." ... "We’re recalculating reputation for every Stack Overflow and Stack Exchange individual based on this change. Every question upvote earned in the past will earn a value of ten reputation points retroactively."

@Rob :) to you too

@TheSimpliFire Good luck with the thesis :)

@LarrySnyder610 Since it's a FAQ, I think the former is better since it clearly separates the Q & A. I checked quickly and saw the same practice on SO meta faq tag

@Discretelizard thanks for the heads up. I read the mod-tl help page and started looking around on TL.
