Q: South African born travelling to SA on NZ passport

RedJandalI am travelling to South Africa for the first time since we emigrated to New Zealand in 1999. My understanding has always been that my SA citizenship was revoked when I became a NZ citizen. A new SA court ruling in 2023 has changed that and all people in this situation have regained their citizen...

businesses are down, people are losing their jobs, how is that worse than the virus? yes, we should take measures and be prepared, just not extreme ones, not now, its been two years already. at the beginning when we should have taken the measures, we didnt, but now we take them.. nonesense

@JonathanReez a few months ago I would have disagreed with you, but now i agree with you. I took the vaccine, as most of my society did, I do not see why the hell do we have to follow extreme measures and wear masks all the time. It just does not make sense to me anymore. They said once the vaccine is out we are done, vaccine is out and we got it, first second and booster shots.. what more do you want from us? let us live normally and travel normally.

it seems that people are really sensitive when it comes to wearing masks or vaccinations. they can go out of line just to prove a point.

I come from a country where most people are vaccinated, and then I had to quarantine in indonesia for 5 days, and my wife wasnt allowed to send me food to the hotel. while indonesia at the time is messed up with covid cases and almost no one was vaccinated.

I was deeply screwed by covid by all possible means. I got covid, and it was hard, i wasn't able to meet my kids for more than a year because of the restrictions. I work for an airline and you know what that means, and then when i started to be able to travel i am wasting money on hotel quarantines which are expensive and the food is bad and it is included in the package by force.

@JonathanReez you said what i exactly wanted to say, but i was too tired to explain. the virus is out. when two countries are fu$$ed up deeply by covid, then when you travel from one to the other and you have to quarantine,, it is a JOKE and a waste of money, especially if you are vaccinated and have a negative PCR test.

@Hilmar I have a master card that i rarely use, but when I face the same problems as you do, I find that card to be working right away. However, even my visa cards do not mess up with me as much as yours. Mine only pick a few countries (China, Malaysia, etc.) and act weirdly.

Customs/immigration officials usually select those who do not fit the general known profile for a selected country. That is the easiest way for flagging people for further investigation.
