@dhein I must admit I haven't checked the IPS page since around May. Kinda lost interest in the site. I'll still check up on some of the cool people there tho... like you! :) yea, I wish I could take my time but I wanna hurry up and get a decent job. Dropping outta uni kinda makes the whole life experience a bit scary hehe xD
@dhein Sorry for the late reply! I'm trying to come up with a little application that is using micro-services. It seems like monolithic schemas are becoming a thing of the past so I thought I'd learn how they work first hand :) The idea is to create the project and push it to github as well as publishing it somewhere as my first portfolio entry.
I have actually not stepped into the software industry yet. It's still the personal project I've been working on. It's just a big step and I need to learn a lot of new things I haven't covered yet. Like modularization is the biggest thing so I can write more efficient unit tests and prepare for future changes. The actual job I have now isn't related to SW at all. And I actually hate it, and don't wanna spend anymore time doing it.
@dhein Maybe I'm coming back from the dead... who knows? ;) Haha but in all seriousness I'm happy to see you're saving your money and your career is progressing well. Super great you've found a place you're happy at! :D I'm trying that still. Sigh, It hasn't been going the best lately. I hope I make progress soon, 'cause I'm not particularly fond of the job I have currently. Biggest thing holding me back right now is not being able to properly plan out different SW projects I have.
@dhein Haha, no not yet. I'm saving my money still. Saving can be quite addicting sometimes. A good habit! :D I'm still alive, I haven't been in a good place emotionally lately so I've been on here less frequently. I hope you're doing well and enjoying life :) toss me an update and I'll read it haha
@TheTinyMan noooo I'm sorry. Sometimes days are like that. I keep coming home exhausted from work and it's so difficult to spend another 5-6 hours researching. Self study is nooooo joke
@TheTinyMan Ahh no worries :P I'll figure it out :) make sure you tag me so I see your message too haha. I hope work and everything has been going well for you!
Wow so this is actually really really cool XD The motivation for docker and kubernetes is for a growing architecture known as "Microservices". It helps you split different logistical bits of your application into sub-applications. Modularizing everything further and making it way more dynamic. I guess Kubernetes is sort of a manager for docker containers. It helps instruct and configure multiple containers I think
yeah, it's fancy stuff! really cool (I don't even know it well enough to explain, so I'll get back to you on that xD). I'm trying to piece together various technologies I wanna learn so I can land a decent job in software.
so I kinda got a grasp on docker now. I'm looking at Kubernetes to see how I can deploy my containers on a more broad scale (hopefully so I can prepare for load balancing)
ahhh oof. scheduling becomes rather difficult sometimes. That reminded me of my new love interest. They're joining the military soon and Idk if I'll be able to stay committed to the idea of rarely seeing them and them possibly getting hurt.
ive been saving up a lot of money, it's not that im in like a monetarily bad place right now. the struggle is the future and how I want to do something a bit more involved and specialized. something that requires education (not necessarily through uni)
I can't plan out these SW projects if my life depended on it. There's just so many considerations and options it's hard to lay out everything so I can follow it easily.
wow. most people in my generation have played it except for a few strange people xD I knew someone who sold all his electronics and started creating symphonies in his basement all day long o_o never even had an opportunity to try it out
@TheTinyMan argh. I'm still here. Feeling better? EhhHH kinda? xD when I'm on more than once a week you'll know I'm in a brighter mood hehe. I hope you're doing well with your new job and everything. Don't be shy to leave me an update here and there so I know how you're doing! :D
did I ever talk to you about that girl and what happened recently? I don't remember if I did. I'm broken rn :P I'ma let you go now, I need to sleep. G'night! :)
Rest does sound nice :p. Hey, I'm sorry I didn't talk to you when I said I would. I didn't expect to get so sick. That day at work snot was falling out of my nose and I was really embarrassed. Then. Well. You know what happened after that xD
I suppose I could research some docker videos when I'm out sick and figure out how to incorporate that into my "studying" projects. Ugh. Those projects are rough. I keep getting overwhelmed and getting distracted with something else
Mhm. I still have several symptoms and am debating whether or not to forfeit a bunch of moneys and not go to work tomorrow. I really don't feel it. But I also hate being useless
