I have put in a suggested edit to restore the original intention of the question. EmilioPisanty's edit destroys the original intent of the question, and makes it harder to search for. The question was intended to vet the physics in a fictional scenario, and as such the title should reflect that.

@KyleKanos That is not what was being asked. The question clearly wanted to discount the magical aspects entirely and focus on the idea of whether a person who didn't have the strength himself to do an act could use the strength of an opponent to assist with it without violating classical physics. The question was, wouldn't Sam have had to have the strength anyway, regardless of Shelob's actions.

What was done to the title of this question was a travesty.

The fact that the question uses two proper names and a scenario from a fictional universe does nothing to detract from it being, in its entirety, a question about physics. Using the fictional elements to better describe the situation is, indeed, a benefit as it more clearly paints the scenario than, say "man in plate armor", etc, as KutuluMike suggests. The question does not need rewriting. Merely mentioning a fictional work does not make the question out of scope. If I asked if a person could survive Verne's moon canon, would I have to pose it without mentioning the clarifying story?
