A place to talk with friends from the EE community about vacuu...

pretty soon the screen doesn't hol it all
Apr 12, 2014 06:44
it's ugly when you big functions doing math with names like min_temperature, max_temperature, ambient_temperature
Apr 12, 2014 06:41
but "temperature" is too long to type all over this function
Apr 12, 2014 06:41
ltemperature = read_sensor()
Apr 12, 2014 06:41
heh, that's the confusion I want to avoid
Apr 12, 2014 06:35
"temp" is no good, nor "tmp"
Apr 12, 2014 06:35
what is a short name for a variable holding temperature?
Apr 12, 2014 06:35
programming.

yo
Nov 21, 2013 21:22
yup.

LRU means least-recently-used. You could use it for maintaining a cache, for example.

Q: In LRU square algorithm, is the least-recently-used row always zero?

markragesMy copy of Hacker's Delight is at home, and the web resources I've found aren't clear on this detail. I have written the following 8-level LRU, using the well-known "row-column square" algorithm. (Is there a better name?). #include <stdint.h> typedef union { uint8_t rows[8]; uint64_t c...

I asked this in mothership stackexchange, any one here have an idea?
Oct 8, 2013 17:39
there's a company that makes a heart rate strap that guesses your power output based on heart rate... so you could use that all day.
Oct 8, 2013 17:34
a little of that, but mostly sensor design.
Oct 8, 2013 17:33
power meters.
Oct 8, 2013 17:33
what's that?
Oct 8, 2013 17:32
at least my test equipment didn't get wet
Oct 8, 2013 17:32
yup. I'm in a boring grey cubicle now
Oct 8, 2013 17:31
@EwokNightmares both are true

Hi
Apr 27, 2013 04:42
gnite
Apr 27, 2013 04:37
I think it was different folks writing the SDK.
Apr 27, 2013 04:37
the hardware design in this chip is excellent and a pleasure to work with
Apr 27, 2013 04:37
Maybe this is an example of why mandatory comments are a bad idea
Apr 27, 2013 04:36
but if you are just rephrasing the variable names, you aren't adding value
Apr 27, 2013 04:35
I actually like that style of commenting
Apr 27, 2013 04:34
because they just restate what the code says, without any "why"
Apr 27, 2013 04:34
yes, well that would explain why the doxygen docs are worthless in this case
Apr 27, 2013 04:32
which would support that theory
Apr 27, 2013 04:32
the whole SDK is full of that kind of comments
Apr 27, 2013 04:31
redundant comments, why?
Apr 27, 2013 04:25
can anyone explain the code that mystified me?
Apr 27, 2013 04:25
my latest blog post
Mar 9, 2013 03:52
gnite, thanks

I analogize other things to circuits, to help me understand.
Mar 9, 2013 03:45
yep, it's been a long time.
Mar 9, 2013 03:25
to find the current is a couple resistors
Mar 9, 2013 03:25
you don't need to be thinking about energy of a positive test charge
Mar 9, 2013 03:24
I think physics makes it harder to understand, since it derives things from first principles
Mar 9, 2013 03:24
well, potential energy is potential energy
Mar 9, 2013 03:23
right
Mar 9, 2013 03:23
circuit theory can be used to explain the behavior of any linear system. but I can't think of one my wife would be familiar with.
Mar 9, 2013 03:22
I'll think about it
Mar 9, 2013 03:22
ping pong balls are a good idea
Mar 9, 2013 03:21
yes
