I've tried some things but that creates an unnatural dark background to a bright subject

I'd like to get some tips to knw how to post process a portrait image and make the backgrounds darker. so that the subject is the first thing a person sees

It's been a crappy week here, raining since sunday
Sep 5, 2018 21:51

Sep 5, 2018 21:50

Sep 5, 2018 21:50
haha
Sep 5, 2018 21:49
I'm in new zealand, much less second hand options here :/
Sep 5, 2018 21:47
I totally forgot about the 85 f1.8
Sep 5, 2018 21:44
i know there's no such thing hence the brackets
Sep 5, 2018 21:43
haha i knew it would come from someone
Sep 5, 2018 21:41
so was looking for a perfect(for my conditions) lens
Sep 5, 2018 21:41
think will not serve me throughout the event
Sep 5, 2018 21:41
but 50mm (the best I have at the moment)
Sep 5, 2018 21:41
my prime motive now
Sep 5, 2018 21:41
I really want something that could serve me until I get some contracts and I start earning from this
Sep 5, 2018 21:40
and if you get a bad item in between
Sep 5, 2018 21:40
not that keen on selling and purchasing stuff, eventually results in losses
Sep 5, 2018 21:36
anybody used it!
Sep 5, 2018 21:36
I'm gonna jump from the 70-200 to the 18-135
Sep 5, 2018 21:35
@AJHenderson agreed
Sep 5, 2018 21:34
by a naked eye, the users wont even feel that difference looking at bot the pictures
Sep 5, 2018 21:33
true
Sep 5, 2018 21:27
the cost difference of the sigma's and the canon's are way more that the image quality I believe after watching a decent number of comparison videos on youtube
Sep 5, 2018 21:25
glass wise, i am thinking about the 70-200, i know it wont cover my indoor shots but could always use my nifty fifty there
Sep 5, 2018 21:22
sounds like a good way to make some contacts
Sep 5, 2018 21:22
makes sense, i will look something around me and would try to approach them
Sep 5, 2018 21:20
@AJHenderson yea, this can be good, i kind of thought about this for a while then read somewhere that never offer your services for free, was kinda confused after that
Sep 5, 2018 21:19
24-70 f2.8 is damn costly. well over my budget
Sep 5, 2018 21:19
:D
Sep 5, 2018 21:19
"click"
Sep 5, 2018 21:19
until then I just have my partner to shoot
Sep 5, 2018 21:18
nice!
Sep 5, 2018 21:18
cool. Work's good. as I said, I am just waiting for some contract
Sep 5, 2018 21:17
haha no worries
Sep 5, 2018 21:15
okay. got it
Sep 5, 2018 21:14
:D
Sep 5, 2018 21:14
what are first and third parties? kinda bounced over my head
Sep 5, 2018 21:12
what about the 24-105 f2.8 to 4 any good? price?
Sep 5, 2018 21:12
I have a 50 1.8 with me, but I wanted a lens which would serve me throughout the event without changing it
Sep 5, 2018 21:11
Website will be easy for me :) I'm a website developer ;)
Sep 5, 2018 21:10
The event that I could potentially may be an indoor birthday party of kids. Confined space for like 50 people.
Sep 5, 2018 20:58
@Hueco True, as you and all others are saying, should get a glass first and then think about a body.
70-200? Good for portraits + events?
or you think something like a sigma 17-50 2.8?
or anything which doesn't cost me a fortune.
