You can accumulate your inserts on each client for a couple of seconds, then insert them all in bulk. However, I would also try to use one app server for all my inserts - that might be faster.

In many cases the easiest way to speed up data loads is to save data in batches, using TVPs or SqlBulkCopy, as suggested by @gbn

In general, if you want to refer to something with an FK, then you want to have an entity with a corresponding PK. If you provide more details about the business logic, we can help you design your tables. Most likely there will be more than two tables.

@cja SQL Server specializes in data storage and does it well. Other tools specialize in version control and do it well. If you want one product to solve all problems, you might get it - but the solutions will never be as good as specialized ones.

@AaronBertrand There is nothing special about database development process either - it can and should be done using modern approaches. If we still develop databases as if it were 1995, we end up with the productivity and stress level as of 1995 too ...

Getting git up and running is easy, and git is the very best VCS. There is nothing special about database code that makes it more difficult to store in VCS than any other source code or any other text files.

I am having problems with my blog post - it swallows URL links. When I add them either manually or by pressing link button, they just disappear when i switch to visual. Any suggestions?
