What happens when the water freezes?

Having trouble answering this. You asked to replace the steel, but the steel is the only long lasting part in a train track. We are still limited by the wood no matter what you use.

Sounds like you want everlasting torture. Which makes me think of any demon that feeds on human suffering and even assists other humans in inflicting that suffering in it's name. But your question strikes me as vague. Any ritual can be disturbing. You can even make something disturbing that isn't in our real world. "A person is forced to wear a red hat, the most horrifying punishment ever"

I feel like star trek already answered this, a bunch of times. And it isn't always the smartest person that wins, it's the one that brought the pointy stick. Several civilizations have fallen because of this.

I feel like water boiling temperature should answer this. But I am not 100% certain how. Maybe I'll give a smarter person an idea.

Technique has more to do with it then strength. I'll always remember the old man that could barely walk, shuffle up to me and show me how to pull back a bow that was 100 pounds of weight on it. He did it effortlessly, I struggled at 70.

Question looks good to me now
Nov 28, 2019 12:42
What chemicals dissolve bone? Pick one of them I guess?

Nov 15, 2019 03:18
Your edits fix your question. But now I have no answer for it :(
Nov 15, 2019 03:18
@VogonPoet But how do they stop? Do they tilt like a helicopter and spin up their motors to counter the forward momentum? What is there stopping distance? And how fast can they turn? Do they again tilt like a helicopter, spin up the motors and turn? The ability to stop quickly and turn sharply will help decide how closely they can travel together.
Nov 15, 2019 03:18
How much correction does the car need for wind? Can it go completely sideways from the wind? Also, how does the car stop? And turn? What controls the altitude? If a semi drives (flies?) by, does the car lift off higher by accident because of the additional air?

So basically this concept is overused by this point
Oct 30, 2019 00:28
Martin is that you? Are you still trying to pitch Wormhole X-Treme?

Oct 18, 2019 10:02
@Rekesoft your comments are good, you should post them as an answer. I like your solution better than mine.
Oct 18, 2019 10:02
SE needs an notify thread option, but anyways, I like all your ideas. Unsure if I can edit them into an accepted answer. If anyone wants to suggest an edit, that would be great. @Nahshonpaz I added that
Oct 18, 2019 10:02
@Yakk thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/marquis-wheat Should help. Otherwise your wrong, farming was wild plants, and evolved into what it is now. I never stated you could reach modern farming, I am saying you need to teach the concept of farming to a bunch of hunter gatherers.
Oct 18, 2019 10:02
@notovny And you feel grade 12 couldn't handle that? What do you suggest I change it to?
Oct 18, 2019 10:02
@cegfault I think you knew that farming existed, and fields need water, and how to dig a ditch. That's honestly all that's needed. The other trick is saying "hey you 500 people, dig a ditch from here to that river" and actually get them to do it.

Oct 16, 2019 08:54
@user2741831 well the first trick is to invent a metal that can be used. Second trick is to figure out how to make people live past the age of 20. Your 100 years would be spent trying to get agriculture up and running. Building waterways to deliver fresh water, and teaching them not to defecate in their own drinking water.
Oct 16, 2019 08:54
What keeps these future people alive in the past? They can't hunt or gather, and that's the only 2 things people did 10,000 years ago. They could probably teach basic farming and basic metal work. But I can't see them teaching much more than that.

I feel like you should be able to warn yourself by leaving a message in the wreckage, then Doctor Who style saving yourself.

Sep 25, 2019 14:05
This reminds me of science trick. If you glue one egg to the top of another and drop them, will the top egg survive?

"That is to say, a large reason why humans use a base 10 numbering system is because we have 10 fingers" Citation needed. Sumerians used base 60 and had very advanced mathematics.

@DanM. That's the water dragon, that happens next

Jul 17, 2019 00:39
I wonder how much the Earths gravity would change with such a loss of mass?

Jul 16, 2019 19:11
I hope this answer ends up with more up votes than mine. It's better than mine.
Jul 16, 2019 19:11
Great explanation. But if there is no air for most of her wings, what is she using to generate lift? And is there even enough air on Earth to generate enough lift?

Jul 15, 2019 19:03
@AlmaDo But visually doesn't make much sense. Looking old and being old don't have the connection people assume they have. I had a 25 year old friend that was literally the size of a baby because his bones were too brittle, so would he not be allowed in? I have another friend that turned grey when he was 18. My own father lost most of his hair by the time he was 20. Without knowing the visual traits this group requires to be considered the right age, I am not sure how we can answer this.
Jul 15, 2019 19:03
Since the answer is, as long as he wants to. I feel this question is too opinion based.

Jul 13, 2019 08:44
I feel like a morning star would be terrifying.

Jul 9, 2019 17:52
It's also worth noting that this secret body guard only works if the assassins are really stupid. If I was the assassin, I would kill everyone around my target first so there are no witnesses or interference. I'd also have a cross bow.
Jul 9, 2019 17:52
Armored suggests a serious problem. Your body guard has nothing then. Unless your body guard is Brienne of Tarth, the assassin will just smash down this hidden body guard. One hit with an armored gauntlet is all it would take. Have you seen what brass knuckles do to someone? Quadruple it for a heavy gauntlet.
Jul 9, 2019 17:52
Yeah honestly male guards would have been in the room, and sworn to never speak or reveal what they see.
Jul 9, 2019 17:52
@Ash Sure anything really heavy would be effective
Jul 9, 2019 17:52
What would a typical assassin be using? Someone in full plate will laugh at anything less than a gun or heavy flail. An unarmored person should be scared of a pointy stick.

Jul 9, 2019 11:14
@Ash Close? How close are you planning to have these fights? In a real world with faster than light weapons, your probably 20 light minutes from your target. When your first shot hits it's target, your target knows your there because they got hit, and because they can now see you since light has traveled to them. So the number of successful shots on an unsuspecting victim will be based on how fast you can shoot. Fire 20 shots a minute, you will probably hit them a few times before the ship responds and moves out of the way.
Jul 9, 2019 11:14
@Ash that would get you a single shot before the fleet knows whats going on, and does a scan near Pluto and sees a bunch of giant ships. Then everyone drifts slightly to the left and dodges them. The speed of light is still really slow.
Jul 9, 2019 11:14
@Ash My point is that Ultima Thule is really far away, and we shot it perfectly while flying through space at 67,000 miles per hour using today's technology. The range of our weapons is so extreme that there is no reason to fight up close. Why would ships of the future need to fight at a range so close that weapons become undodgable?
Jul 9, 2019 11:14
I feel it unlikely any space combat would happen at knife fight range.

Jun 21, 2019 12:39
@Benjamin What about 99 or 100% speed of light?
Jun 21, 2019 12:39
FTL travel maybe?

Jun 20, 2019 03:03
Do you even need limbs at all then? There is no concept of falling or gravity, so what are you keeping stable from? You could be falling, but constantly moving back through time to before you fell, thus being stationary
Jun 20, 2019 03:03
I am confused what 4D space is in this context. I always saw the 4th dimension as time, and you can't stand on time.

Mar 19, 2019 13:51
@MisterPositive It is an interesting read though. One for the bad company list.

Star trek comes from a time where they didn't pay much attention between episodes and the cause and effect between them. So we end up with characters running around with idiot balls until someone tech talks a new solution with the deflector.
Stargate mostly tried to avoid it, or shove it under the rug in the case of 3 shots disintegrates
Feb 18, 2019 17:54
Stargate more realistic? Probably not, but I liked how self aware they were, and, aside from the first half of the first season, they kept their in universe rules fairly consistent
Feb 18, 2019 17:53
Oh and really happy the vampire craze is finally dead... that was so horrible
Feb 18, 2019 17:52
@RichardU At least we have The Orville. What a great time for Sci-fi fans. We finally have shows. I was getting really sick of re-runs of star trek and non Sci-fi shows like cop dramas on the Space channel because there simply was no sci fi shows being made anymore. I am hoping for someone to resume Stargate next. That's only Scifi series I rate even higher than star trek
Feb 18, 2019 13:55
nope never heard of it
